Updated experience: I usually don't go back and do updates but I feel its important to let customers know what they can or cannot expect when visiting an establishment. We went back a few days ago, the quality of the food had not changed. We saw our waitress 4 times: when we sat, when she got me another spoon because mine had food stuck on it, gave us a box, and gave us the check. I sat with an empty glass for about 15 minutes before she decided to check on us. When she got there to ask about a box my food was already gone so there was no need at that point even though she still didn't ask if I wanted another drink. When we informed the lady in charge, her response was it was because they were short staff. That reason would have been fine if all the other tables our waitress had was receiving the same lack of attention. 1st experience here was okay. Our waitress was very friendly. Overall the service was pleasant. There were a couple of things that could have been cleaned better but it wasn't a dealbreaker for me. The food was decent and the prices were as well. It's the perfect spot to stop for a quick bite.

Easily the best fried chicken in North Carolina and hands down the best chicken and waffles I've had. The sweet and spicy sauce makes it. The San Francisco Benedict is also a crowd favorite. This small local diner is definitely a big charm with good old fashioned hospitality. The lower wait times also make it worth the drive out of the city.

I am glad I took a chance on this place. The food is wonderfully great!!! I wanted to challenge them with Chicken and Waffles. They tipped it was strawberry whip cream with pieces of real strawberries. The chicken was crispy and juicy!! The coffee was good as well. Although my waitress was slow with my second cup of coffee and other staff members kinda of ignore me plea for a refill. 😪 ( Refills are important) I will definitely make the track over to this restaurant I will make updates for a little but again, I was pleasantly surprised. 🥰💖

Loved metro diner in matthews area. Little bit of rush and wait time on weekends but totally worth it Quick service and delicious food. Had: southwest bowl, it was filling , healthy and tasty. On the side got their special cinnamon pancackes, it was too good. Sugary but good And special metion for their crispy hashbrowns.

Absolutely delicious!. Great service. Christmas music is playing in the background. Who could ask for more. Lots of parking. Spacious facility. Booths, as well as table and chairs. Will definitely be returning.

Ordered Fish Fry Friday! Batter was so crispy and fish was flaky and cooked perfectly. I planned on taking a picture BEFORE I started to eat. Better late than never!

Excellent service and delicious food! Jasmine B was extremely friendly and courteous! She recommended the iron city meatloaf and fried chicken. We really enjoyed the apple mimosas for only $3.39 too! I always have the best experience at this location. The portions are huge too, I had enough fried chicken to bring some home for later. :) I hope you bring back stuffing waffles this year!!

What a cool diner! Reminds me of the late night diners I used to go to near downtown Charlotte. Had the Chicken and waffles which were amazing. Food came out super quick and the waitress was on point. Even though it was busy as hell, they kept everything moving smoothly.

One of the best breakfasts we've ever had! My husband and I ordered a lot of food and finished it all because it was so decadent and unique. The cinnamon roll Belgium waffle was incredible! The blueberry lemon pancakes were melt-in-your-mouth and very unique. Can't say enough good things about this place, from the delicious food to the excellent service. We'll definitely be back! Highly recommended!

I am a decorated combat injured veteran and was denied service because my family and I refused to wear masks! We were going to wait outside until a table was ready, and the girl said we would STILL have to be masked to be on the waiting list!!!!! This is Highly unacceptable!!!!!

Nice place. I was there with a group. The service wasn't so great but I think it was because of the event. I had the avocado toast. It was way big. I couldn't even eat half of it. Definitely a sharable dish. The coffee was pretty good for a diner.

Incredible. Best food I’ve had in a long time. Cinnamon pancakes were out of this world and the fried chicken eggs Benedict are perfect. Great service too.

First off- our server guy was very attentive and nice. We ordered cheese fries but I had to get it deconstructed as bacon and cheese aren't on my fav list. I ordered a red mimosa and he did a sweet tea. For mains I got a chicken pot pie and he ordered a Shepard's pot pie as they say they make their pot pies from scratch. Okie well, the chicken pp- chicken pieces weren't cooked all the way thru and super bland, chewy and the crispy top crust pie was dense and very gooey kinda uncooked in the middle. This might be a good vegetarian pot pie but definately didn't taste like chicken was cooked in it instead, put on top. His Shepard's pp- bland, not exactly cooked thru and same issue with crust. Nope, for sure won't be ordering again. Rr were clean. Will give it a try and visit again. Edited to add - we did nicely share our experience with our lovely server who said hell have the manager over in a few. That didn't happen but when he took our card to charge he did NOT charge us for the chicken pot pie. We insisted on paying for it but he won't have it. We tipped him good. The manager should've stopped by to hi atleast.

I ordered the club with fries for my myself and the chicken and waffles for my daughter. The food is basic diner dishes but pretty good for the price. Our waitress was nice but barely checked on us until she assumed we were close to done.

My co-worker and I ordered food for our team for pick up. We were greeted soon as we walked in. The restaurant looked clean and organized, the dinning area was about medium capacity so still enough tables to sit comfortably. They had displays all over the walls of highlighted dishes. The food was 100! I had the steak and scrambled bowl, it was enough for two and the steak was a sirloin cut up. My co-worker got the chicken and waffles with strawberry butter. We shared it, the chicken was on the bone fried right! I definitely will be going again!

I ordered the shrimp and grits to go. It was still hot when I made it back to eat it. The flavor was perfect. The restaurant was pretty quiet and empty for a Friday night. Food was prepared quick.

The food was good, but could see how they manage food costs, by making sure all meats get utilized into as many menu items as possible. Fourth trip there, always find a way to be seated in the back with two other black families. Then two more black couples were seated in the back too. Upon check out, noticed the front dining room area had plenty of seating that wasn't being utilized. Just an observation. Not an accusation.

Went here for brunch. Great food and service! The cinnamon roll pancakes were amazing!! The hash browns were perfectly crispy on the outside and still fluffy on the inside. Service was quick and super friendly! We will definitely be back :)

Had a short wait for a table and a short wait for the waitress to take the order but the food did come quickly everything was cooked just the way you like it.

Dont order curbside, they will never bring it. Place has gone downhill in short time its been open. We've only found one good server, young blond haired man. Prices high for same food you can get elsewhere that tastes better.

The chicken strips and fries were a hit with our 5 year old. The chicken is well seasoned and they were actual pieces of chicken breast. It was delicious! The cinnamon roll pancakes were also a hit with our two older children. Nadia (I hope I spelled that correctly 😬), our server, was great. All in all we’d definitely eat here again when we’re in town.

This place is amazing!!!! OH MY GOODNESS!!!!!! Everything was fantastic, hot, and large!!!! Our server Trisha was so kind and made our experience here a great one!!! Ask for her!!!!!! I had the chicken and waffles (substituted tenders) and was totally blown away!!! The strawberry butter almost brought a tear to my eye!!!!! The chicken was seasoned perfectly!!!! Excuse me while I go take a nap. 12/10!!!!!!

Diner feel with atmosphere and food. My server was very attentive. Always wanted to refill drink, which is important. I ordered turkey meal and it was good but would have loved a turkey or chicken gravy over what seemed more like a darker spicier gravy. I was looking for the turkey day feels in this meal. Menu had options in different categories but I wanted home cooked type.

This place was an absolute gem to find. Lovely atmosphere, great fast & friendly service. Multiple varieties of 🥚 omlettes , good coffee ☕️ . I ordered the Crossant French Toast with a side of sausage patties tasted really good, well made.

Took my parents here for breakfast when they visited. We had a wonderful meal. They had the Bissel breakfast and I had the Blueberry Lemon waffle special. Oh my goodness it was amazing!!! And our waitress was so nice. She put up with my quirkiness when ordering. I will definitely be going back for the special!

Literally ASHLEY B. is hands down the best server! She provided optimal customer service. Kept the coffee refilled, brought our orders out in a timely manner, and had an overall amazing attitude. Thank you SO much!

I haven't been here in awhile since I moved out of town. It was just as good as I remember! Got the lemon blueberry pancake and it was delicious! Staff was wonderful, as always.

Food was good. I got huevos Ranchero. There were 4 pieces of deep fried tomato tortilla which was a bit much for my 1/2 order. Husband had 2 egg breakfast. The dining room was chilly for me but a light sweater will take care of that.

Like most diners, they really excel at their breakfasts. Great omelettes, crispy but tender hashbrowns, fresh coffee and other great options. Their other types of food can be lacking. The most recent example, their Beer battered fish special is all beer batter and precious little fish to be had. Very disappointing. I suggest going for breakfast and choosing somewhere else for your dinner, or at least being careful which entrees are picked. The new chicken wings are ok, nothing special, but its hard to mess up a chicken wing and they manage to do a decent job on their burgers as well. Just choose carefully and do some research on the meal to make sure its something you will want.

My daughter had the Turkey meal which the gravy contained Cumin .yuck! It make the meal not eatable...the waitress offered an alternative but declibed.

Visiting Charlotte for the first time, we sought out places to have a nice breakfast close to the hotel, and the reviews for Metro Diner were all positive so we decided to give it a chance. Our experience far exceeded our expectations. Not only was the food amazing, but the service provided by the entire team from the hostess to our wonderful server Ashley G. was extraordinary! Next time in town this will be our first stop for sure! 😁

Okay living in the south, you're exposed to the southern tradition foods. Every diner or home-town place claims to be the best. And I'm sure there are so many great ones out there! But this homey little diner was an amazing find. They give you monster portions and they're delicious!! The service is also why I gave them a five star rating. Highly recommended!

I've been there 3 times so far and had the chicken and waffles. My next visit I know what I wanna try. Nice family spot. Today we had a young waitress with green hair, she was awesome. I made sure we all left a tip. It's a cool spot.

LOVE this place. I was thrilled to see our new area (just moved here) had a Metro Diner. The restaurant is spacious, timely, friendly and always has great food. If you have never been to a Metro Diner before, just know that you should expect a big portion of whatever you order, you'll just wish you had a stomach big enough to eat it all. As for this specific location, the service was great. Our waitress was friendly and efficient. The kitchen was also efficient. The location is a great size, offers indoor and covered outdoor seating, and has clean dining areas and restrooms. They have also done their part in spacing everything to accommodate for COVID-19.

We enjoy eating at Metro Diner, it’s normally very good food and service at a reasonable price. This is the first time in five visits that we had issues. The fact that the cook put the burnt toast on the plat is bad enough, but the fact that the server brought it to the table is unacceptable. I gave three stars because the other order came to the table prepared properly.
