I wanted to try this place for a long time and I was not disappointed. Inside has a warm interior and chilled music the staff were so friendly & lovely. The waitress served us as soon as we sat down & the food arrived v quickly and tasted delicious, full of flavour with really good prices. I will definitely come here again.

A really nice intimate atmosphere with some wonderful food and excellent service. I recommend you pre book as they are quite popular, we managed to squeeze in just after another table left, out of sheer luck and the kindness of the staff. The decor inside is very cosy and interesting, and the seating comfortable. The menu is quite plentiful and there is a substantial vegan menu on offer as well. And, most importantly, it's delicious and reasonably priced. A firm favourite.

Took two attempts to get a table here but well worth it. They are busy because the food is really good. Lots of vegan options, as well as non-vegan food. Will be coming back here for sure. Photos of the salad and the amazing drunken noodles posted

This place was totally amazing!! Its a must place to eat though booking is highly recommended. The staff are very kind, helpful and go above and beyond to accommodate your requirements. The food though was something else! It was sheer sublime and mouth watering. Views of the open kitchen watching the very talented chefs cook, the food was out of this world. Such a great choice to of food amd drinks. They don't sell alcohol but you can bring your own drink with a £2 corkage. It's a small place and cosy but it was busy and the phone was ringing wanting to book but they were fully booked, even people walking in couldn't get a table. It is one of the finest southern East Asian dishes I've ever had and I will 1000% be going back. There isn't wheelchair access from what I could see. The toilet was on the ground floor too. The Mekong was very very clean with hand sanitizer on the tables along with all the sauces. The tea I had was a smoky one which was the best tea I've had in ages. The beef broth dish was sublime and very very filling. If you plan on visiting Stockport, I highly recommend visiting here as you will not be disappointed. As for the prices!! You can't get better and would knock many places out of the park for value and the 5 star rating of the amazing food. Give it a go but remember to ring before you go as not to be disappointed.

Absolutely amazing from start to finish today. Service was amazing! So friendly and relaxing. Our dishes were the tastiest and fragrant food I’ve ever eaten. Will definitely be a regular visitor from now on. Can’t rate highly enough. Best restaurant in Stockport by far.

Excellent authentic food, my family loved it. We're from Singapore and we know what real southeast Asian food tastes like and this is as close as you can get. Thumbs up 👍🏼

Visited this place twice in the last month, and it was great both times. Good food and good service from the staff. It gets really busy so it's advisable to call and book a table. It has good beers on offer, including Vietnamese ones such as Hanoi Beer. The drunken noodles are great. One slight criticism would be that although it's a general "Southeast Asian" restaurant, the menu is mostly just Vietnamese. It could be expanded a little to include more Thai, and maybe Cambodian. But this is a minor point; all the dishes I've tried so far have been great. Will definitely be coming back.

We were there for the first time with my girlfriend, the food was delicious and seasoned as we like Asian food. We enjoyed it and will definitely come again. The service was friendly and accommodating, we arrived without a reservation and everything was taken, so I recommend booking a table in front.

Great for vegans - a clearly demarcated vegan section on the menu with loads of options. We enjoyed the lemongrass seitan summer rolls, mushroom pad thai, and soy chicken phō. After our meal we had a matcha latte and a sweet tea, both made with vegan milk alternatives at no extra cost. Highly recommend giving the soy chicken a go! The decor and music is also lovely. You may need to book in advance to get a table.

Wanted to try here for a while and I wasn't disappointed, the food was delicious, restaurant was small and felt really welcoming. I had the prawn and pork summer rolls which were delicious, refreshing and tasty and a massive portion, I brought one home with me. For my main I had Bai cha, with beef, which was really good, savory and tasty with lots of meat and vegetables. Drinks were reasonably priced. All my party had a really nice time and enjoyed the food, can't wait to come back. Make sure to book a table as even on weeknights it gets very full !

mainly came here for the khao soy bc there’s barely any in the mcr area esp outside of city centre and whilst it tasted good, the portion was smaller than expected; there were more of the garnish noodles than actual noodles. the portion of the pho and kor ko was also quite small and imo the pho broth was not as clear as it should be and slightly too salty. there was a generous portion of pork in the banh mi and it was yummy but i thought the bread resembled more of a ciabatta than a vietnamese baguette 😅

I love my South East Asian food and this is one of the best in mcer. The wings were fab and the broth of pork and seafood was top notch. Will be visiting again.

Absolutely wonderful food and service, very quaint and lovely. Definitely book ahead as they are busy, and rightfully so, the food was divine. We also had dessert, fried doughnuts with condensed milk, and I am still thinking about how delicious it was..

In the 70s in communists ruled Poland was made film called Teddy Bear (miś in original.) There's famous scene where one of many characters go to very popular milk bars. Place where food was really cheap and cheaply made. Service was rude and you ate on... Well have a look for yourself on YT - bar mleczny MIS. Metal plate screwwfo table and before our character was able to eat that plate was secured with a screwdriver to the table. And today i felt just like in that scene. When i was served by cheeky (in not very nice way) young person that slammed mug in which chopsticks and forks and napkins where stored. Thought its just my face but every one was served like that. Like that young person was doing life sentence here by serving customers. And before you say anything... I often order in takeaways and im served by young people. And im treated with more respect that i had today. No questions gentleman whom took our order was polite, had a time to chat with customer and explain differences in meals. And meals? Lao style Pho. I want to learn how they do broth in Vietnam. This was amazing. Simple broth with rice noodles and nice chunks of rice noodles. And you can choose from many different types of meat. And how such meat is prepared. Im also happy tlwe where able to get table. This place is popular. For food that is, not for a service from angy kid who probably planned to play on console rather than help / earn some pocket money. When it comes to pay you have option to give a tip. My advice don't. Let the kid learn some manners first. Ao you don't have deja vu feeling of being in 70 comedy. 4 stars because of such service.

Lovely little gem! Huge vegan menu & standard with lovely staff! I had the summer rolls, the sauce they came with should be bottled and sold it was incredible!

Very fine Thai food in Stockport. Recommended to all. Though the portion is a little bit small.

Heard about here from my son, booked a table as I was told it gets busy especially at dinner time. Food was amazing and fresh, plenty of flavours 😋. Have been again and this time there was new items on the menu, food was amazing and as good as the first time. Get your table booked and give The Mekong Cat a try, you won't be disappointed

Best Vietnamese/Asian food EVER!! Such lovely stews with a range of interesting flavours. And great for vegan or non vegan. I had the cauliflower wings, crispy veg spring rolls and Beef stew, the aromatics in the stew were gorgeous. Highly recommend

Cozy place with friendly staff and the food is delicious. Two members of my party are vegan and they really enjoyed the vegan menu. I had the Seafood Pho and it was really good, and a very big portion as well.
