Event venue Live music venue Disco

👍 Decent venue, good selection of drinks and great atmosphere.. although coming for an event posted to start at 7pm and having to wait an hour and a half until it actually started wasn't ideal! People often mention venue, good, night, staff, great, sound, drinks, music, people, Great,

Attended the Viagra Boys gig last night, fantastic venue. We've been gigging for over 40 years and the security staff were amazing, polite, friendly and helpful from the moment we walked in the building. Then for the gig having to deal with an excellent crowd who were enthusiastic to say the least, we can't thank them enough. They are a credit to the University and the city of Sheffield.

Nice venue for live music - went to see Mahalia here. May sound stupid but there are two places in a close distance called Foundry... Make sure you select the one at the student union. There were plenty of people including ourselves wondering around the other Foundry for a while - we soon realised we were a 20 minute walk away! Drinks were reasonably priced

Watched 808 State at The Foundry last night. Amazing gig. Fantastic venue. Polite and friendly staff. Great view and sound quality. Parking at nearby Q Park that only cost £6. Only thing I can knock the place for is the price of the drinks.

Very clean. Reasonable prices for drinks. Lots of regular live music events. Good ecoustics and lighting effects at the gig I went to. Expected everyone to be really young, but itwas a very eclectic mix of people with a good vibe between them.

I really liked this gig space. It felt small and intimate yet spacious enough to get away from the action for a breather if I wanted to. The bar staff were super lovely and welcoming and I felt it was a very non judgemental safe space. Well done to the staff and managers.

My first visit to the students union at Sheffield since leaving 40 years ago. Really enjoyed the experience and Slade were value for money. Great night out.

It's like having a gig in your own front room..Oh, with about 4 bars with a good choice of drink and a cracking team behind it..low ceiling.. decent crowd of like minded folk around you..all come to immerse themselves in the brilliance that is The Slow Readers Club... Absolutely no doubt about it...TOP night out😁👍👍👍!!!

Fantastic night. Was very surprised by this venue inside the Sheffield University. They have an array of acts on and the venue holds 1000+ people, a bar that is reasonably priced and plenty of security staff. Will definitely go again.

Good space and acoustics were good, unfortunately when buying a drink I was charged different prices for the same drink.

It's a really nice discreet place for music and events, a little confusing to find if you're not local but once you're there, the staff goes above and beyond to make sure it's a safe place for everyone, mental health team on site for assistance, well stocked bar and a great sitting area to relax in pre-show

Saw Death Cult here. Was a good gig but place is sterile and acoustics not great unless you're nearly at the bar at the back.

Good music venue. Bar prices as expected - not cheap. Although where is? Standing only which I prefer. Would definitely return for a similar band.

Great gig, paid on door, reasonable priced drinks. Carpark on Durham Road very handy.

potptarts: bartender named molly served multiple people before me, even though i was before them all, she served people who she worked with first as a priority, i know this because they were gossiping about employees in front of me. Roar: the clobbers are horrific, so many bottles to the head

Not am easy place to find 😉 great venue and great sound unfortunately bar queue was to long and ran out of beer as most on sale were cider not beer

Seen many concerts here and always enjoyed the atmosphere. The staff this time were more friendly and helpful than ever. The bar staff were quick and efficient and the view and sound were decent for a venue with a low ceiling. Will definitely come here again.

It was better when it was the Lower Refractory... always great sound, but could do with removing a few columns...

Awesome venue. We'll layed out, with easy access to the bar which was well staffed. Great view of the stage for everyone, with good acoustics

Good venue, great music, easy to find, parking nearby and getting this close to Gary Numan!

Cold! Went for a gig (idlewild) in November and they had the air conditioning on. First gig I've ever been to and had to keep my coat on. On the plus side beer was cheap enough and the band were outstanding.

Venue a good size , but that's the only positive . Toilets absolutely disgusting don't even have toilet seats and were filthy , sounds not loud enough. Security could be better , no pat down , metal detector or drugs dog this time. Queues were huge to get in though and took over 40 mins. And they wouldn't let me use a bathroom . Expect better basics to say it's uni run.

Hands down the best place to go in Sheffield, as a student or not. 4 years going there not a single bad experience, mishap or event. Just pure class.

Saw Teleman in here on a Sunday night - and it's a cracking little venue. For me it is only marred by the really awful (and heavily-priced) booze on the bar that is chilled to the point of loosening one's fillings. Oh yes, and the toilets are not well placed; you'd expect them to be on the way out, not to have to push through the mosh at the front to reach them.

Fantastic production on the club nights, friendly people and cheap drinks

I saw two bands here in both the small and large rooms over the course of a week in December 2021. Since the building itself is part of the student's union it is kept very clean and tidy, and the venue itself provides great space in both of its performance rooms, as well as multiple bars that serve reasonably priced drinks. The only reason I'm knocking a star off was the sound quality in the main room where I saw Loathe/Slow Crush perform was extremely bass heavy. This would be good for other genres of music and club nights, but for live rock/metal bands there was far too much bass and it detracted from my night somewhat. Still, this is a very nice venue and I will be returning in a moment's notice if a band I like is playing.

Really good venue. Would definitely recommend. Very polite and professional staff, really good sound and stage and I like how the club is built with enough space on the floor and good view from many points of the venue.

It was Okay for the artist we were seeing but choice of drinks limited. Plenty of space to dance.

  • 4/5 Carl D. 2 years ago on Google
Excellent small-ish venue. I find the height of the stage is a little restrictive on the view. When it's busy it's limited to what you can see. I'm 5ft 10" so don't generally have a problem at other venues. Unless Ride attract abnormally tall people!!! The Ride gig will be another close contender for gig of the year on my list. Epic. A big thumbs up for the drinks prices the O2 could learn a thing or two from them.
