Hi, unfortunately I feel in need to post this review after my very displeasing experience in this place. I went there at about 6p.m to eat and drink something. I was expecting for something pretty okay counting the price but the quality was even less than mediocre: I think I'm not the best at evaluating food but the day earlier I bought some frozen meat at a mall for 1/4 of price and it tasted at least 3 times better. Anyway I wanted to close an eye on it and ordered some beer, hoping that it'd save my evening and let me forget about food. I was so wrong doing that decision, I should've walked away. when I got served my beer, I heard and saw a man probably in early fifties with dark hair and country clothes screaming at some workers, I'm pretty sure it was either the owner or a manager. I can't believe he treated his workers that bad, I got so mad I wanted to just throw my chair in the air along with the table and go away without paying. I can close an eye for food, I could even close an eye about prices, but the is absolutely no way in the world I can accept someone that treats their workers so badly. Of course I didn't even take a sip of my drink, I cleaned my face, delicately got up from the chair, and gave a very direct stare into that man's eyes and as soon as he saw me, no words came out of his mouth anymore. I walked up to him and said:"Thanks for the meal, and I truly hope that you'll get treated the same way you've treated those people". Placed the bill money on a table in front of him and walked away. You have earned my reward as top place where to never ever come back again. Goodbye and never seeing you again. -Gigi

In an area with lots of local competition sadly the Brisley Bell didn’t meet our high expectations. We had a Sunday roast and it was just average. My vegetarian roast wasn’t really a roast - it was a goat cheese tart with roast potatoes, carrots and parsnips - overly sweet, no green veg and no gravy. Drinks were overpriced - £5.40 for a pint of Coke. Service wasn’t great - ordered an extra side that was forgotten about and had to wait ages to pay the bill. The location and the pub itself are really beautiful but wish the food was better. Not worth the hype.

Fantastic place! Nice and clean room! Excellent food! Excellent wine and beer selection! We went there for our wedding anniversary with the dog. We slept one night and had dinner and breakfast. Everything was perfect!

The last pint I had here would have been about eight years ago, a lovely traditional Norfolk pub completely untouched by modernity with a real community feel.A change of hands saw this old time gem gentrified which, normally , dissolves their much loved charm replacing it with some sort of trendy/corporate look so out of place in sleepy rural Norfolk. However somehow they've pulled it off. Brilliant friendly staff. On my visit I was given a very warm welcome from the young girl and her Irish colleague behind the bar. As for charm, it's everywhere you look and I can't recommend it highly enough. The Beer was in great shape too.

Had been looking forward to visiting the Brisley Bell for years and finally decided to book a celebration meal there. The setting is incredible- the interior design is amazing. The staff were really friendly and welcoming. But sadly that was all let down by what we were there for - the food. We were expecting something pretty special but found it pretty bland and uninspiring. The cod with new potatoes and broccoli in particular. It appeared to all be boiled with a packet mix sauce.

This is a lovely hotel to stay in. We’d stayed around the corner at a treehouse and then stayed here the last night of the holiday. Our rooms was very spacious with a lovely comfy bed. They even had an espresso machine which we tried out in the morning. We ate dinner here on Friday night and had this amazing lamb - so tasty. Would really recommend this place for staying or just for dinner.

On holiday and we happened upon this place by accident - what a find! Everything is so well done - from the delicious food and service to the great decor and amazing beer garden, one of the best pub gardens we've ever been to. We received a warm welcome and chatted to some lovely friendly locals in the bar. When we're next up in Norfolk we'll definitely be back.

A lovely late afternoon Sunday lunch in this beautiful dog friendly hostelry. Tasty food beautifully presented and with care for gluten free guest. Pleasant and helpful staff, beautiful gardens and great menu choices. Only a few minor points- the haddock pancake starter was rather more pancake than haddock, overgenerous brown gravy swamped the flavours from the roast beef & lovely fresh veg ( maybe serve gravy portion separately for diner to pour to taste?), & Pistachio ice cream had unexpected marzipan flavour. These are small quibbles however and we'd definitely recommend eating here very highly. Thank you again for a lovely meal in such a charming setting. NB..The dog enjoyed this place too!

We are on holiday in Norfolk and the Brisley Bell was recommended. The customer service was superb. Thank you to Alice and Annie who served us. They were friendly, always smiling and were so caring with our puppy Coco, who adored them. The pub welcomes dogs in the snug which had so much character. The food was divine and my gluten free options already outlined on the menu. It was a beautiful evening. Just perfect in every way!

Booked to go here for lunch and we both had a fabulous meal. Very tasty food and the staff were friendly and extremely helpful. The decor inside is very quirky and a pleasure to be sat in enjoying our food. It's a busy place so I would recommend booking in advance to save disappointment. Will definitely be visiting again to try some more of the delightful menu items.

Upscale pub food. Good food. Only complaint was no gap between starter and mains. 2 plates were still being cleared and mains arrived. Not a common occurrence in any restaurant tbh. Puddings served to a more normal timescale. Quality place. Expect about 60 a head all up, mid range wine inc.

Turned up today to a fantastic room(Hindol). Love the shortbread and sloe gin gifts. Such a beautiful room with a fantastic wetroom. Dinner was top notch and service too. Staff friendly and helpful. Dishes so tasty and quality shone through. My pork belly was really tasty. Tried the chicken and lamb too which were delicious. Cheese platter very good to end our meal. Looking forward to breakfast!

The Brisley Bell resides in the small village of Brisley and represents a country Inn at the highest level. The accommodation is excellent with outstandingly designed guest rooms, and the dining experience is one of the best I have had while traveling in England. Outdoor landscaping encourages you to sit outside and enjoy the countryside.

First time at The Brisley Bell, first impressions from the outside it looks a real gem, we decided to go for Sunday Lunch, greeted with a warm smile, all staff were very attentive, good selection of ales and wine plus the menu, the quality of the food is amazing, tasty and full of flavour. The garden is lovely to walk around and just chill out with a drink or have your food, there is an under cover area to be had if you wish. Would highly recommend and will definitely return.

Well what can I say about this place. Simply the best looking pub I've ever been to in my life. The Gardens are fit for a King or Queen, the service exceptional, and the location beautiful. Just to cap it off the beer was absolutely fine.

The food was amazing (delicious and so tasty), but I especially liked the gardens, the gardens are incredible, they must put a huge amount of effort in. The staff were polite and attentive, even though they were evidently busy. We'll definitely come again. Highly recommend.

This pub has got a great vibe and super friendly staff. We also got chatting to the owners one evening during our stay and they couldn't have been more hospitable. The food is fantastic and there's evidently a lot of work, planning and preparation that goes into each dish. We stayed for three nights and working in the industry I can see how much effort and thought goes into this place.

The most amazing food I have ever eaten! The service is always absolutely incredible also. We have been multiple times now and on the most recent visit, we celebrated my brother's 19th birthday for Sunday lunch. They made a special effort to add a candle to the pudding and even sang Happy Birthday to him!

First time visiting Norfolk for me, so we wanted a nice pub dinner for the evening, and this place seemed to be highly recommended. And with good reason. The Sunday roast that I had was delicious. The beef and the rest of the plate were cooked to perfection. I do recommend you add the extra gravy, though, if you're a northerner like myself. Staff were lovely as well.

First visit, for birthday lunch. Beautiful setting. Good menu choices, including gf. Food was lovely, and great friendly service, but wine prices a little high. 100% recommend to friends.

Well thought out and expertly executed dishes. Best food you're likely to find outside of Norwich. Stunning interior, with a sympathetic approach to the original character of the building. Great selection of Ales, Gins and wines. Well kept surrounds and an idyllic location. Great for entertaining friends and family any time of the year. Competitive pricing given the quality.

While staying in the area, we stopped in for a drink on a very hot day. Don't be deceived by the outward appearance from the roadside. Stop and go inside, it is an amazing little pub that opens up at the back to a beautiful outside area.

Wonderful find! Fantastic decor & vibe. Cheery welcoming staff and exceptional service. Thank you Brisley Bell, you were brilliant from beginning to end, a proper relax, unwind & be looked after kind of weekend away. Exactly what we needed! The food was delicious. Top class. We feel so rested & rejuvenated. We can’t wait to come back.

We we're very well looked after during our stay at the Brisley Bell. We stayed two nights as we explored the local area. The food was fantastic and the service made it even more lovely. The rooms were also great, really relaxing. I would have loved somewhere to hang my clothes but didn't take the shine off the stay at all.

Amazing service and really good food. I have a hard time going to restaurants, I often come back home thinking I can do better at home! However this time I was presently surprised, the food was fantastic and the service was pretty amazing too! We had 3 course meal and a few drinks, affordable.

Had an amazing stay in a fantastic room at the Brisley Bell, particularly liked the bath in the room, and the open fires in the pub. Fantastic food served by lovely, friendly staff. Can’t wait to come back again.

We had a lovely Sunday lunch at the Brisley Bell! The food was was very good and the service was both friendly and speedy. We luckily managed to nab a cancellation with only a few days notice - I think they otherwise get booked up for some time in advance. The bill was quite reasonable for two courses with drinks for the 3 of us.

What an amazing setting, perfect bar and restaurant. Greeted by friendly staff in front of a roaring open fire. Sunday roast was the best we've ever had, just lovely. Everything was unhurried and definitely a place we shall return to.

First visit here and it's very local to to me. Why have I not been before? We loved it. The food, service and the whole experience was fab. The fires, sofas and 'look' were exceptional. We will be back. Please take on Dereham's empty 'The George'......

We had a really good stay. The room was lovely, very clean and lots of extras, such as a small bottle of sloe gin, which was very good!!! Our meal was really nice, very well cooked and presented and the staff very attentive . A good selection for breakfast also, overall a lovely break in routine, I would recommend to anyone.

A truly brilliant pub. Oodles of character, blazing open fires, really fine food, friendly and accommodating staff and a beautiful building to house it all. Delicious puddings deserve a special mention. All in all, an exceptionally good place to spend an evening.

Fabulous. We visited on the recommendation of our daughter (who's been here several times). The Swan is in a beautiful village in rural Norfolk. It is a well appointed beautiful old building and our bedroom (in an outbuilding) was superb. Possibly the nicest bath I've ever been in! We had both dinner and breakfast both of which were to a very high standard. All the staff were very friendly and professional. Worthy of all the awards it has won. We'll definitely be going again.

Lovely staff, friendly&helpful, nothing too much trouble. The food might seem expensive but wait till you see what you get!!! My friend&I reckon we had a whole chicken between us&that was without the veg! 1st time we've been but hopefully won't be the last-if we can get in. Booking essential, especially for a Sunday lunchtime. Excellant all round

Fab restaurant. Delicious food. Only disappointment was bar tender wouldn't make a cosmopolitan cocktail. I asked him if he had cointreau, vodka and cranberry..answer yes! So why he refused not quite sure! Apart from that, everything perfect. Book in advance as restaurant gets very busy.

Beautiful pub. Food was excellent and good value. Best tartare sauce I have ever had. Staff were really helpful and friendly. Just feels like they are doing the very best they can and hoping you like it. No stuffiness, no pretension just great food in a lovely setting. Will be back for more.

Lovely atmosphere, excellent food. It was my 94 year old mother's birthday lunch. The staff made us very welcome and spoil my mum . We took our own cake and candles which the staff presented to her The restaurant burst into Happy birthday. Thanks to all at The Brisley Bell .For a wonderful Birthday lunch.

We had an amazing 2 night stay at the Brisley Bell over New Years. Our room (Hindol) was beautifully decorated, spacious and cosy. The two fireplaces in the pub were the perfect place to settle in with a book and a drink. And their food was also absolutely delicious - very generous portions! We ate there two nights in a row and were also very pleased to see they change the menu a little each day. Thank you to all of the lovely staff - they really make the place feel relaxed and friendly, whilst also having brilliant attention to detail/the right level of attentiveness. We’ll absolutely be back next time we visit Norfolk (maybe in summer so we can enjoy the beautiful gardens!)

A perfect gem of a pub, with hotel rooms to die for.....although hotel makes this rather stunning pub sound a bit stuffy, so maybe more of a pub with great rooms! The absence of cupboards/wardrobes gives a feeling of space with inventive 'hanging' to suit the stylish décor that Mrs Taylor was more than happy with..... always a plus for me! The food and drink was a taste buds delight, and nothing was too much trouble for the welcoming and friendly staff. I do like to pick up on the vibes of the evening and did notice a table nearby who were not happy that the menu did not have more vegetarian options. Tricky to please everyone it seems, as the vegetarian options were not to their suiting. Contrary to their comments, the sample menu's on the website did reflect the vegetarian options available and the serving staff had endless patience in offering solutions, and apologies when these diners were still not happy. They do advertise as being a 'meat led' pub so it's a lesson in doing your homework perhaps? Hats off to the owners of The Brisley Bell, we could certainly see why it was voted pub of the year. We are already planning a return visit.

A lovely warm feel as soon as you walk in the door and that’s not meaning the open fires! The layout, decor and friendly staff really do make you feel welcome and being able to bring your dog is great. The little nooks and fire lit seating areas really do add to a wonderful ambience. The wide range of beverages are fantastic and the food is truly lovely. Starters, mains and desserts were all gorgeous and left me thinking when I can book to come again. Well done to all involved

What a special place... We decided to book a table here to celebrate our wedding anniversary and we were not disappointed. The food was totally delicious, highly recommend the slow roasted pork and the service was excellent, attentive without being intrusive. We loved the interior which is a mix of old world charm with a contemporary touches. The gardens are gorgeous and we cannot wait to come back.
