Visited The Sheppey whilst staying locally. We were given a very warm welcome by the friendly staff. Food options were good, with a children's menu and an extensive drinks list. We tried some locally brewed beers which were lovely. Service was prompt despite having some large groups of people on the night we visited. Our meals (dirty burger and fish stew) were delicious. Definitely recommended.

Decent pub with lovely staff. Quirky decor & a good menu. We had a lunch for 4. Didn’t book but plenty of space midweek in December. Dog 🐶 friendly 👍🏼

Always a delight to eat here, the food has a class and style that is more than the average carvery or restaurant in the area. There is a huge bar, well stocked with local ciders and often a band playing. The mustard and cider mussels starter stole the show for us, we'd recommend it to anyone!

We had a stunning lunch at the Sheppey today. My husband tried a new dish on the menu, pigeon breast which was divine. We both had the pan fried mackerel which was fab. The staff were really lovely and friendly. Our dog was made very welcome and was given a bowl of water when we arrived. Thank you, we look forward to visiting again.

Fantastic pub! Probably one of the best independent places to drink and eat anywhere into the UK. Frequently changing beers, ales, ciders and excellent food. Brilliant beer garden right on the waterway out the back. Not much to look at from the front but fantastic decor inside and welcoming staff.

Welcoming staff (we hadn't booked - that's advisable if you want a restaurant table). Very helpful with a strong customer focus. Good food with a different twist. Good beers. Thanks - a great, memorable experience.

A wonderful experience at the Sheppey. We hadn't been back since the new owners took over and the first thing we noticed was that there was no more milk bottle as a counter weight on the door! Inside the decor has been improved but not completely changed. Welcoming, warm and the right blend of vintage and modern. The staff were attentive without being overbearing and had an easy manner that made you feel at home. The dishes were well presented and had a great balance and texture. They also took on feedback with good grace. All in all an excellent occasion and it's good to see such a local icon being looked after so well.

Me and my other half stayed 2 night's here and the room was really lovely and nicely decorated. The only thing letting it down was the breakfast options, but we knew it only involved a small selection of continental choices. The restaurant was wonderful though, service was fantastic and nothing was too much bother. The truffle/cheesy chips were particularly banging and atmosphere was just right for us. We look forward to returning on our next trip here and thanks to everyone for being accommodating for us!

We love coming and eating at the Sheppey. The food is excellent and a range of exciting vegetarian/ vegan dishes (and not the usual token 1) . The drinks list is varied and supports local breweries. The staff are super friendly and efficient - even during the busiest times. Thank you , it is always a treat to visit and a delight to step through the door and find twinkling lights and sometimes live music.

A group of 9 of us had our Christmas meal at The Sheppey and the food was absolutely to die for! All beautifully cooked, not a frozen roast potato in sight, and amazing gravy too - hats off to the chef Tom. All of the staff were lovely and really helpful, Ben was kind enough to clear some tables for us to dance, and the bar staff were great too especially Kev and a younger girl I didn't get the name of - thank you all for looking after us and making our night so much fun! Will definitely be coming back and recommend visiting The Sheppey for excellent food and service.

We were served by Jake who was friendly and helpful. He checked frequently to make sure everything was ok. Our food was really tasty. It arrived in good time and was hot. The price of our meals was very competitive compared to similar establishments. It was our first visit and we will be going back. Thank you

Lovely staff and a delicious meal. A quirky and delightful setting. A couple of hiccups with our order- something we ordered didn’t arrive and they definitely need to let you know that one peppercorn sauce is enough for two people when ordering steak! Everything else was wonderful and the food was cooked beautifully. Pork belly starter was divine as was the steak. Thanks for a lovely evening.

Had a fantastic meal here with family - all three courses, wasn’t planning to have dessert but was persuaded. I had vege dishes (corn ribs, biryani bonbon and buzz buttons) and each was delicious and a bit unusual. Wine was great too. Fun atmosphere. Would love to go back!

The Sheppey is super quirky, set out in the levels with a pretty stream running behind the back balcony. They have a nice selection of food options, local music bands, and welcoming young staff. Great vibes for all ages, you have to go see to understand.

We had the pleasure of visiting The Sheppey Inn whilst staying in Wells. We visited on a Wednesday evening and had such a lovely meal. The food was absolutely delicious - I had the tuna steak for starter, venison for main and sticky toffee for pudding - I recommend all three! We also had a wonderful waiter called Jake who was very attentive and provided fantastic service. If we are in the area again, we'd definitely return!

Has to be 5 stars. Excellent food and atmosphere here. Quirky decor too, see if you can spot one of your childhood toys on the shelves. We particularly enjoyed the local cider and fish stew. 👍

Stayed at a B&B close by, needed somewhere to eat. Was surprised to see the difference to interior to exterior design. Lovely open area to sit, fairy lights on ceiling in one room, an assortment of ornaments on shelves in another. Very friendly, helpful staff. Good choice of food, though slightly expensive. Lovely beer battered fish and chips. Nice range of cider. The added bonus was they accepted dogs into the pub/restaurant, which several others also attended. Exterior could do with a ‘makeover’ to match interior.

Fantastic pub with great atmosphere. Love the quirky items around the pub. Food was excellent as always. Really like that the children’s menu as it isn’t just fish fingers, sausages etc. our daughter loves the fish stew. Lovely mocktails and presented nicely.

The food here is generous and delicious. The food is prompt. The drinks are colourful. Entertainment is great and the pub itself is a walk down memory lane. It's a lovely quirky place overlooking a river.

Hadn't been to The Sheppey for some time so when my friend (a local regular) suggested lunch there after a walk in the area, I looked forward to revisiting. It turned out to be even better than I remembered it. Uniquely great décor/atmosphere and a warm welcome by the staff. The outdoor sitting area by the stream was ideal on the warm, sunny day. We both had the haddock and agreed that it was excellent. I actually thought it was the best fish and chips I've ever had (large portion of crispy haddock, great chips, very good peas and mixed leaves). The coco & blueberry tart and the chocolate & hazelnut tort tasted as good as they looked! White wine and coffees were great too. On top of all this, the service was friendly and efficient, just at the right pitch! Can't wait to visit again.

We had a lovely lunch in this gem of a place, tucked away on the levels. Staff were friendly, food was good, scenery top notch! Would definitely recommend as a destination. It’s on the pricier end of the scale, so for us a special occasion, but we absolutely enjoyed every bit of it.

Myself and my wife had a wonderful experience at The Sheppey, it really is a Somerset gem. The staff were very friendly and we were greeted with a warm and inviting atmosphere. Our waiter Jake couldn't have been more helpful. We sat outside on a sunny day with a beautiful calming view of the river. If you're looking for a unique dining experience with fantastic food, cider and a welcoming ambiance, this is the spot to visit.

The Restaurant is interesting. I would not have expected such a vibrant and nice place inside. To excess the restaurant one has to drive down a narrow unpaved road with huge puddles on the side and a low inconspicuous house. In terms of design it's quite diverse inside, the only less impressive part was the AI-prompt-inspired paintings on the wall. The food was high quality, not super creative but very conscientiously prepared. I would call the kitchen classically British with a touch of the farm vibe. The service was friendly, but a little bit unorganized...

Well what can I say about this place! It’s one of the best places we’ve stayed in! The staff are so friendly, the food was amazing and all locally sourced which is a huge bonus. I loved trying the local wines, they rotated them so I got to try different ones over our 2 night stay. We stayed in room 1 and it was extremely clean, stylish and comfortable. Huge huge shout out to Ben the owner who saved my birthday when we couldn’t get a taxi into Glastonbury and he dropped us!!! Such a kind thing to do - can’t thank you enough.

Really lovely food, not a single quibble. The desserts were amazing - we had four and rotated them around us as we all wanted all four! Still haven’t worked out what a fizz bomb is tho 🤔

Excellent meal on the Somerset Levels in mid winter . Great beer and selection of gin too . Friendly service with lovely music playing quietly in the background . Tasty food served in good time . Wife’s birthday celebration so a great time to get the best desert ever .

What a quirky little pub in a beautiful setting. The hotel recommended this place and we were so happy that we went. The creative menu is super delicious. We opted for the asparagus and fish stew starters and the butternut squash, sweet potato, rice, and bean vegetarian main. The staff was friendly and very accommodating. The array of 'stuff' displayed around the pub brought a smile to my face with everything from transformers to a yogi bear to sesame street characters to unusual artwork - it was worth taking a wander around and you probably have to see it to understand it. If we were ever in the area again we would revisit it. Hopefully, it would be a nice day and we could then experience sitting outside in the decking area. Highly recommended!

Absolutely loved the food and atmosphere at The Sheppey 💚 The menu is varied and we had trouble deciding what to pick, we will definitely be coming back to try the other options as I have no doubt the quality remains consistent through the whole menu. The pictures don't do the food justice, my chicken was smokey as if it had been barbecued and the chips were 10/10. My mackerel starter had a gorgeous crisp skin and my banoffee sping rolls were a showstopper! The staff were friendly and attentive, and the music was BRILLIANT. I can only imagine the vibes on a busy night during one of their music events. The pub itself was warm, cosy, comfortable and quirky. Although the pub is in a VERY rural location and the car park is small (you'll probably have to park on the road) I would still highly recommend a visit to The Sheppey 🌟

We arrived early for our booking and the stag let us sit at our table early. We had two espresso martinis and they were possibly the best we have ever had. Fish stew and a fish cake for starter that were delicious. Beef roast and pork roast which were good portions and everything on the plate was exceptionally nice. It's a buzzing pub and the staff are great. Looking forward to my next visit

This place is a retro style pub, with tables to eat inside and out, with a small canal and great views. Children will love to see all the old toys dotted around, some of us adults will get nostalgic with the array of Thunderbird toys, even one of my hero Mr. T. The food is great, roasts, vegetarian and lovely desserts. Brilliant selection of beverages for all. Amazing staff. Once you have finished, a ten minute walk will take you to a national reserve park to lose some of those calories. You will need to get to the place by car and be careful on the roads, there are pot holes and bumps, also patience as a lot of cyclists and it is in some parts narrow. The cyclists will move to the side when the are able to. All in all a great day out for all the family.

Way off the beaten track, like way off! But definitely worth the effort. The gardens are fabulous and overlook the fish laden stream. Indoors is quirky and bright, loved the artwork too. Best of all though, the food's brilliant.

Incredible Sunday lunch. Expensive at £20 I thought but it was plentiful and delicious. Puddings were £9 and mine didn’t match the description on the menu so I sent it back. I got another one exactly the same and the staff member was a little embarrassed and said neither looked like what they had been serving earlier; but no explanation came from the kitchen. That was definitely over priced for what it was. My friends sweet was okay. It is a lovely countryside and riverside location. The outside space and toilet windows inside and out need a good de cobweb and a sweep around wouldn’t go amiss.
