We were a group of four adults and two children and it was clear from the start that the hotel caters more for people who are over 70 and wanting a "Kur". The plus points were that the hotel has gorgeous old style charm. It has maintained the decadence of its original late 19th century features and was architecturally impressive as was the whole town; a lost pearl of a place with plenty of potential. The rooms were very comfortable with heated bathroom floors, good showers and beds. The free entry into the Aquaforum was brilliant. The kids loved the pool and slide. The staff were very friendly and helpful. What was not so good was that tea and coffee making facilities in the rooms were missing. The wellness area downstairs was more like a hospital; white, sterile and clinical and it did not invite me in for a massage. The pool was small, a little cold and no bubbles. There were a few misunderstandings even though we also speak good German (but sadly not Czech) mainly to do with the dinner at the restaurant. The big problem was the restaurant. While the dinner was very good, the breakfast was very ordinary. The times were terrible: breakfast is from 7 to 9 and dinner from 6 to 7:30! I called several days before we arrived to request vegan, wheat free food which has never been a problem before in other 4 star hotels, so long as I give plenty of notice. I was told when I arrived that I could just eat the salad! It felt like they weren't prepared and made no effort. There wasn't even any soy milk at the breakfast. We often waited over an hour for our meal with the two children getting hungrier and hungrier...... We gave the restaurant one last chance on our last night and I booked a table and asked again for a vegan meal. When we arrived, the kitchen had received the information that all of us would eat vegan and they had prepared six vegan meals, which the others could not or would not eat. I felt bad for the kitchen staff but we had really tried to make it clear and somehow everyone's message just got lost. If you come with kids there is a great skate park and playground behind West Park and a little further to the north west, out of the village is a lake (Amerika) with a small nice looking zoo (animals looked well cared for).

(Translated by Google) The hotel offers beautiful neo-Renaissance spaces and presents itself as "the most luxurious accommodation in Františkovy Lázně". If appearance is the reference measure, then one can agree. However, if I were to evaluate the service and everything around it, I cannot agree to include it even among 4*, let alone speak in superlatives. The weekend stay was pleasant, although a lot could be worked on, so that all guests feel comfortable throughout their stay. RECEPTION - 5/5 The arrival was smooth, the lady at the reception very capable and available to deal with the vicissitudes that arose later. Whenever I walked by, she was on the phone/live talking with the guests. The head of the reception was also very pleasant. ROOMS - 2/5 The room was definitely not completely cleaned upon arrival. The cleaning is obviously very rushed and not thorough. Crumbs on the carpet, a spider in the corner. This is not something you want to see in a 4* hotel. The big disappointment was the downright dirty towel. It was immediately exchanged for me at the reception, but it freezes. A person then does not have a very good feeling where (and in what) he sleeps. Changing shoes in an obviously women's size was of no use to me. The hotel could reflect the gender of the guests and adjust everything accordingly in advance. The view from the room is beautiful. The shower is very outdated, opening it made a terrible noise, which must have woken up at least the neighbors (terrible screeching). RESTAURANT - 2/5 Some of the waitresses obviously prefer German-speaking clientele and show it. Others, on the other hand, tried very hard to make up for it to Czech-speaking clients. It felt strange and inappropriate. The breakfasts were not very varied, the quality of the food was absolutely average - classic Czech juice full of chemicals. A varied selection of good cheeses. A completely inappropriate system where you pay (!) separately for espresso and hot drinks during the buffet breakfast (only filtered coffee and tea are free - we have to say about it, however, you don't have the opportunity to make it yourself). Bizarre in any hotel, let alone the "most luxurious". Dinner in the form of a banquet is average. Served dinner perfect. SPA - 4/5 All very pleasant, professional. The pool is very small and is more for fun. But the hotel includes free entry to the nearby Aquafora, which makes up for it. To není nic, co chcete vidět v 4* hotelu. Veliké zklamání byl vyloženě špinavý ručník. Byl mi obratem vyměněn na recepci, ale zamrzí to. Člověk nemá potom příliš dobrý pocit, kde (a v čem) spí. Boty na přezutí v evidentně dámské velikosti mi byly k ničemu. Hotel by mohl reflektovat pohlaví hostů a přizpůsobit tomu vše předem. Výhled z pokoje krásný. Sprchový kout velmi zastaralý, jeho otevírání způsobovalo příšerný hluk, který musel probudit minimálně sousedy (strašné vrzání). RESTAURACE - 2/5 Některé ze servírek evidentně preferují německy hovořící klientelu a dávají to najevo. Jiné se naopak velmi snažily to česky mluvícím klientům vynahradit. Působilo to podivně a nevhodně.

Simply the best spa hotel in Franzensbad. Beautiful Neo-renaissance building in the centre of the large park calls for a stay. Profesional and friendly staff, very good cuisine and truly homelike atmosphere. Aquaforum is just cross the street and hotel guests may use it free. In addition to the hotel has its own indoor pool with simple sauna which I personally prefer. Hotel bar serves well chilled 12° Pilsner Urquell :-)
