War Museum in Dharamshala is one of the must visit places. Although it is a famous tourist attraction, you'll find a moderate crowd here. It throws light about the history of India and a brief summary on the wars that india had participated in since independence. Other than that one can also find information about the ancient Indian army styles and structures followed. Definitely recommended 9/10

The War Museum at Dharmshala, is a reminder of the sacrifices of the valiant soldiers of Himachal Pradesh, right from recipients of Victoria Cross to Parmveer Chakra. The Museum offers flashback to learn more about the Nations first Param Vir Chakra recipient, the highest gallantry awardee, Major Somnath Sharma to late Captain Bikram Batra, Sudhirkumar walia, and others who laid their lives for the sake of the Nation. In the Kargil war, 54 brave soldiers from the soil of Himachal had laid their lives. These sacrifices find mention in this War Museum. Outside the Museum, there is the statue of General Zorawar Singh. The inner Hall houses busts of Victoria cross awardees, Bhandari Ram and Jamedar Lala, small description of their legend on the wall against a golden background. The busts of Param Vir and Vir Chakras include those of Major Somnath Sharma, Major Dhan Singh Thapa, Captain Vikram Batra, Major Sudhirkumar Walia, Captain Sanjay Kumar. The Museum also houses photo gallery of all PVC recipients of the country besides the medals of various gallantry award recipients including Victoria Cross, Ashok Chakra, Vir Chakra etc. There is nominal entry fee of rs 20. A must visit place .

This war memorial is on highway itself so you don’t need to deviate from your route. Ticket is 20rs for adults. To be honest this is not well maintained as compared to other war memorials. There is no washrooms or drinking water proper availability. Good thing is atleast they have mentioned martyred soldiers name properly on the wall which was atleast not tarnished badly. Our soldiers atleast deserve their name on a wall which is nin good condition. Really disappointed.

Lots of stories on previous Indian wars and war heroes. Information provided through digital screens with touch screen controls to customise based on your interests. You can do this place either in 10 mins or even 2 hours may seem less if this place peaks your interest. Layout could be improved a bit .

The musem also contains prototype of Air Craft carrier, Wreck of old Submarine and Air Craft. A must Visit place for Defece enthusiast and Patriot people.

The War Memorial in Dharamshala is a poignant tribute to the brave soldiers who laid down their lives for the nation. Nestled amidst lush pine forests, the memorial stands as a testament to courage, sacrifice, and patriotism. The serene surroundings add a sense of solemnity and respect, inviting visitors to reflect on the stories of valor. The memorial itself is beautifully maintained, with plaques and inscriptions that tell powerful tales of heroism. The pathways are lined with tall trees, making it an ideal spot for peaceful walks and moments of contemplation. It’s a must-visit for history enthusiasts and those who wish to honor the memory of the heroes who fought for our freedom.

This museum is an open one. Here, they have the names of our brave warriors listed on a wall, who got martyred in different wars. All warriors belonged to Himachal Pradesh. It has a children's park also within the vicinity. A peaceful place to spend some quality time.

Definitely a must visit if you are tourist with your family or even friends. Can sit there, enjoy, click pictures and read about the brave soldiers of out nation. Beauty of this place is its so naturaly build. Not so much time you required to visit this palce you can explore this place within half and hour easily. One star less due to drinking water and washroom facility i didnot find there.

The purpose of this place is noble and makes you feel connected to the brave heroes who sacrificed themselves for the mother nation. But, in terms of a tourist attraction it lacks a bit, although the place is extremely pretty and peaceful, the maintenance could’ve been better. The staff at the ticket counter and entrance is very sweet and welcoming, it was nice seeing smiley faces and chat with them, full marks to them. The street food outside the museum is great would recommend you to give it a try once. Overall, would say it’s a must visit place to take a little break for city rush and sit under open sky.
