Paravur town in Kollam district bears a small lake known as Paravur Kayal that merges with the backwaters of Kerala. This Lake is around 4 km far from Paravur town. The lake is comparatively small& it is the end part of Ithikkara River. Paravur-Edava-Varkala Street goes through the banks of Paravur Lake. The mangroves standing along both sides of the lake intensifies its beauty, making it more attractive. This lake is popular and significant as it connects a part of the Trivandrum-Shoranur Canal System to the Edava and Ashtamudi Kayal.

Paravur Lake or better known as Paravur Kayal is one of the popular lakes in Kollam. The glittering waters are a visual treat to the eyes. It is a small lake but an ideal spot for locals to come out and enjoy a day outing amidst the beauty of nature. The mangroves standing along both sides of the lake intensifies its beauty, making it more attractive. Another real fascination in the region of Paravur Lake is the Priyadarshini watercraft club. Swimming and surfing are the most popular activities here followed by fishing that requires permission from the local authorities. Apart from the waters, the nearby Puttingal Temple and Puthenkulam Elephant Village are the other attractions here.

Paravur lake is seen to be believed for its beauty. The calm green waters soothes the soul, slows the heart and relaxes us. The adjacent sea with its roaring waves smashing on the rocks, gives us another kind of feel, an awe of the might of nature…

Awesome place. Had a Mangrove boating ride and it felt WOW. This place doesnt have a big popularity. So it seems quiet and we can really feel the peace of nature. Clean lake, boat ride, twittering of birds. It was awful and also its a hidden gem in Kerala. I went by family and the ride last for 1 hour. And it cost 3k. Best time for ride is 7-8 on morning and 5-6 in eve. The road to the destination is soo small and congested. Its bit difficult if you have a SUV. But Must go place πŸ˜β€οΈπŸ‘
