Huge and beautiful building. Make sure you get a ticket from the little office before attempting to gain access. Unable to get inside, but I think it would be worth it just to walk around the outside. The views across Kyiv are stunning x

This is a very beautiful baroque church built in the 18th century. This church has one of the best panoramic views of the city, and in my opinion it’s one of the “must see” points in Kiev. Ticket costs only 20 UAH (you can buy it in front of the church). The church itself isn’t big, it is now under renovation and it was not possible to see it from inside. But the walk around with all the fascinating views at the city is totally worth the visit. I would recommend to go there when weather is good, so you can enjoy the scenery better.

The Cathedral is truly beautiful, if you enjoyed the Vatican city then you will like this place. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site. There is no photography inside, and there are lots of stern looking ladies sitting inside that will stare at you in you get your phone out. There are also a few beautiful artifacts, such as the image of Mary made from painted Easter Eggs. There is a scale model of ancient Kyiv with a free speaker in multiple European languages that last about seven minutes. There were tours available but only in Ukrainian/Russian on an adhoc basis. The Bell Tower provides views across the city. Watch out for the metal post about ten steps up. You quickly realise that you need to duck to avoid it. The steps are not crazy small, and they are broken up by the viewing platforms. The tower in Princes Street in Edinburgh is much tighter and busier than when I went in late December, but until you get to the first viewing platform the steps do get quiet small. A combined ticket was 200, roughly 6 euros in Dec 2018.

A unique Christian church that does not have bells. The church has its own observation deck, from which you can clearly see the left bank of Kyiv and the Dnieper River. The church just opened after a complete restoration.

St. Andrew’s Church in Kiev is one of the most striking Baroque buildings. Its architecture and location are genuinely unique. The church is built on an artificial hill, overlooking one of Kiev’s oldest neighbourhoods, and the foundation for it is the terrace of a two-story building, with a cast-iron staircase. It has been twice hit by lightning, but still the church is is flourishing and is open to the public for services and sightseeing tours.

(Translated by Google) This Orthodox church was built according to the project of Rastrelli in the middle of the 18th century. The Baroque building is located on the steep right bank of the Dnieper, above the historical part of the city - Podil. Down from the Andreevskaya church goes Andreevsky descent, connecting the upper city with the lower one. According to legend, on this place the Apostle Andrew the First-Called during his journey to the north erected a Christian cross. Currently, the temple is a monument of history, architecture, painting and decorative arts of world importance. This is both a functioning church and a museum.

Whether it is day or night, the charm of this church (and not a cathedral, a mistake I have noticed very often, unfortunately) remains unchanged. Realized by the Italian architect Francesco Bartolomeo Rastrelli, it lies along the Andreevski Descent, located in the heart of the ancient Kiev.

With the first opening of the door, you realize how incredible this building is, you look at these enchanting ceilings, and you wonder how it could have been built at all ?! I definitely advise you to see this beauty with your own eyes at least once. It’s a big church! You have to pay to go to the observation deck, or the museum inside. 20UAH for the deck, 80 for the museum. Views are worth it, and the inside of the church is…a church. Cool though

The church itself is so beautiful, not just outside but also inside. The fact that is in the top of the hill makes a beautiful contrast with the sky and the greens around. Definitely a gem and a mandatory visit in Kiev. Some small fee must be paid in order to enter.

I visited just before the start of war, so my review is based on my experience at that time. One of the most beautiful churches in Europe, imo. Set in an amazing setting. Visit at night if you can as the lights make it even more spectacular.

One of the most beautiful church in Kyiv. She is so good looking from outside. I didn't have the chance to see it from inside, it was closed for improvments at the time I visited Kyiv. The view of the city from the church gallery is totally gorgeous. Nice place to visit.

Of all the architectural marvels I've encountered in my travels, St. Andrew's Church in Kyiv holds a special place in my heart. The sheer beauty and significance of this structure is unrivaled. One day, when peace graces Ukraine again, I eagerly await my return to Kyiv, where I will stand in front of this magnificent building, celebrating with a heartfelt visit and a smile. Such places serve as reminders of the timeless beauty and resilience in our world. Similarly, with two decades of experience in personal training, I've come to appreciate the dedication it takes to craft something exceptional, whether it's a historic monument or one's own well-being. For those seeking to shape their own enduring legacies, be it physical or mental, guidance can make all the difference.this building guided me many times as it light up the kyiv nights sky and inspired me to think and plan many action steps in my life. I hope more of you will also benefit from the magical energy of St. Andrew's one day soon 🙏🏻🌆🏰🌟💪🏼

Nice church but the area surrounding the church is amazing. There are several viewpoints over the city and Andreievskyii Spusk is just a beautiful artsy street, probably it is the Ukrainian Montmartre. Lost of artists and handcrafts for sale, a few art-galleries, cute cafes and nice restaurants

One of those churches that looks great from the outside, but is only for you on the inside if you are into icons and that sort of thing. Lots of good restaurants nearby and an outdoor art market during summer. Convenient to the British Embassy, the Intercontinental and the Hyatt. Or walk down St. Andrew's descent to Podil area.

(Translated by Google) St. Andrew's Church in Kyiv - a monument of history, architecture, painting of the XVIII century. of world importance. It was built in 1747-1762 in the Baroque style by the famous architect F.-B. Shooting. The perfection of the lines, clear proportions, amazing harmony of forms and the surrounding landscape have earned her general recognition and fame. St. Andrew's Church was built by order of Empress Elizabeth - daughter of Peter I, who decided to build a royal residence in Kiev. Conceived as a palace, St. Andrew's Church soon after its construction lost the care of the royal court. In 1768 the church was transferred to the Kyiv magistrate, and later to the Kyiv City Duma. After its consecration in August 1767, St. Andrew's Church functioned as a regular functioning church until 1932, when, by decision of the Soviet government, worship was suspended. In 1935, the church as a branch became part of the historical and cultural reserve "All-Ukrainian Museum Town". In 1939, it housed a branch of the Sofia Anti-Religious Museum. During the Second World War, services were resumed in St. Andrew's Church. In 1961 the church was closed. By Resolution of the Council of Ministers of the USSR № 766 of July 10, 1962, the building of St. Andrew's Church was transferred to the balance of the State Construction Committee of the USSR, and by order of the State Construction Committee of the USSR № 4 of January 10, 1968 - to the State Architectural and Historical Reserve. On September 10, 1968, St. Andrew's Church was opened as an architectural and historical museum-branch of the reserve. Since 1987, it is part of the National Reserve "Sophia of Kyiv" as a department. St. Andrew's Church has preserved not only authentic architectural forms, the largest percentage of exterior decoration, but also fully conveyed its interior, which is an unsurpassed example of the Orthodox church interior in the Baroque style. The author of the interior decoration of St. Andrew's Church is the architect F.-B. Shooting. Modeling, made of plaster and then covered with gilding, has intricate shapes of flower garlands, stylized palm branches, acanthus leaves, rockels, cherub heads. Unsurpassed examples of carving art in St. Andrew's Church are the iconostasis, the above-throne blue rotunda, the preaching chair, which combine various types of flat, embossed, high-relief wood carvings, gilded and polychrome round sculpture. The main decorative and ideological and artistic component of the interior is an iconostasis 23.4 m high. The iconostasis of St. Andrew’s Church contains 39 icons, which give a clear idea of the nature of church painting of the mid-18th century. During its existence, St. Andrew's Church has not undergone significant changes and alterations, although it has been renovated for many years. In 2009, anti-accident works began to strengthen St. Andrew's Hill, the structures of the church building and its foundations, which continue to this day.

St. Andrew's church is open for visitors now. It was closed for restoration for many years. Tge church was built in the 18th century by architect Bartholomew Rastrelly. It works as a museum as well as an active church. It's necessary to buy an entrence ticket. When going upstairs, we can see a beautiful panoramic view of the Dnipro river and Andrew's descent. The interior is very beautiful where we can enjoy the unique iconstand and pictures.

(Translated by Google) One of the most useless places to visit is after restoration, oddly enough. There is really nothing to look at and nothing at all. Everything that is inside this church can be safely (and free of charge) seen in almost any church in regional centers. Yes, they did it outwardly. But this is already evident)). Going inside, probably, will be relevant only to non-spoiled foreigners. There is an observation deck, but there are plenty of others nearby and also free. It is strange that the restoration has been going on for so many years, and there is nothing to look at. Moreover, to pay for it, because this church is a "museum" and not a functioning temple.

One of the most beautiful churches in Kyiv. It is located in z very interesting and historical places, Andriivskii descent. The history of this place and this church is very interesting. Right close to the church you would be able to find an art market and through it you would be able to get right to the city center. Besides, lots of different events occur there, so you might be happy to get just in the middle of the Caucasian week or right on the Lazer show.
