So freaking cool. Even the grounds around this place are beautiful. Plaques explained everything in English and Ukrainian. Apparently you can climb inside the helicopter but it was closed for Corona. ☹️ Lotta sad stories coming out of the conflict near Donetsk. Was very sad to see how many Ukrainian soldiers have died. There's a small exhibit of cars that have come from that region where the recent conflict is and has been. Go and considering paying the entrance fee to the war II area to support best place. Seriously one of the coolest museums.

Great experience to visit this place. Brings the great european wars to life. Good place to visit with kids and family. Car parking is available. Quite a bit of walking will be required. This place is wheelchair friendly. If you love military photogtaphy this is the place to take ur camera to. Tanks, planes and soldier status can be foubd here. Most of the meuseum is open air so be watchful of the weather. Good for a couple of hours visit.

The museum has got some renovations and looks a bit better than before. Some people say you can enter the head of the Mother Motherland monument and from there you can see amazing views of Kyiv, but I never have been there. Need to try it ones.

This sits right outside of the Motherland Monument, with some interesting vehicles, art, and sculptures. Easy to get to, wide open spaces, very inexpensive exhibits, and... Just a really cool place. They did a spectacular job putting this together!

Very impressive museum. You need to pay a small entrance fee. There's an extra fee if you want to go up and do the sightseeing from the Motherland statue. Both tickets can be bought at the entrance to the museum.

The best part of the museum was the indoor section where you need to pay in order to enter. There was a very moving exhibition about the war in Crimea (didn't take pictures because it was some kind of disrespectful) and also the permanent exhibition about II World War (Eastern Europe). I am not very fond of War museums but it is always worthy since there is always something new to learn. The only disadvantage was that not all written explanations are provided in English so you have to do your own research if you want to go deeper in knowledge. After paying the entrance make sure you go downstairs to leave your belongings, otherwise it is not possible to enter the museum.

We we're visiting this place as part of our visit to the town of Zhytomyr. Mayor of Zhytomyr invited us for business visit and we olbliged. We had very qualified guide for one hour tour . Her way of explaining the history of space program and how Ukraine and it's scientists played a very crucial role was impressive. She narrated the history without biase and prejudice. At the end of the tour we requested for photograph and she obliged us

Incredibly beautiful park, especially in the autumn, during the Indian summer. Very big, one of the largest (if not the the largest) parks in Ukraine, so if plan to visit it and to see every of its corners, be ready spend all your day on it (the park is open till 10 PM, but it lacks the lighting, so don't stay there till it gets dark). There are many buses connecting Kyiv and Bila Tserkva (departing from central railway station and Lybidska Kyiv Metro station), some of them go directly to the park. Entry tickets are valid for a day and are bought at the entrance.

(Translated by Google) What can I say. Alexandria is one of the best parks in Ukraine. Unfortunately, the palace destroyed a hundred years ago is not enough for completeness. In part, on our last visit, we discovered a restored dance pavilion. Everything is done perfectly. This, of course, is not Versailles, but I did not mind 10 UAH for a visit. P.S. Early morning entry to the park is free (Original)

(Translated by Google) The park covers a large area. Everything looks at a decent level, with the exception of the buildings, as they require serious restoration. There are many reservoirs with direct access to the Ros river. There are few pointers around the park, a map that can be photographed at the entrance was very useful. The prices for entrance tickets in 2020 are only UAH 20 for adults and UAH 10 for children.

Visited during winter 2020 A lot of interesting and detailed exhibits about world war 2 within the museum. There's a new exhibit on the ground floor about the current war with Russia. You can spend around 2 hours in the museum. Outside there are exhibits of tanks, airplanes etc.

The National Museum of the History of Ukraine in the Second World War (Ukrainian: Музей історії України у Другій світовій війні) is a memorial complex commemorating the German-Soviet War located in the southern outskirts of the Pechersk district of Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine, on the picturesque hills on the right-bank of the Dnipro River.[1] The museum was moved twice before ending up in the current location where it was ceremonially opened on May 9 (Victory Day) in 1981 by the Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev. On June 21, 1996, the museum was accorded its current status of the National Museum by the special decree signed by Leonid Kuchma, the then-President of Ukraine. It is one of the largest museums in Ukraine (over 300 thousand exhibits) centered on the now famous 62-meter tall Motherland statue, which has become one of the best recognized landmarks of Kyiv. The museum has been attended by over 21 million visitors.

Memories carved in stone and put in metal. Well maintained and versatile. Tanks, armed vehicles, artillery - land troops are well presented. Piece of real history. Covers period of World War II, before and after it. For aviation part go to National Aviation Museum located at Kiev Zhyliany Airport.

Absolutely fantastic experience. Very detailed displays huge grounds with, I don’t know, maybe 25-30 tanks, several other track and wheeled vehicles. The same applies to planes (the first one right off the bat was a tail dragger, a DC10, in all her glory. Everything was big, especially the statue overlooking the whole site, the statues of the peasants fighting as underground with 10 and 20 people depicted all with the adults standing 12 feet high and children at 6ft. There were several sets showing the events/way life was, all in bronze. The main building has a huge, and I mean huge selection of items from pistols to canons. Many I had never seen before, and I was a firearms instructor/range master and competitor, I lived guns. There were several people working there and when we asked where the elevator was, I was in a wheelchair, we were told(in English by a lady that was called as they didn’t know what I wanted) there were no public elevators, but a staff member would assist me. He took us up to all three floors and left us to wonder but came immediately when we wanted to go up or down. When we were about to leave the English speaking lady and the museum manager, who spoke quite good English both came and asked what we thought and thanked us for coming. A beautiful place to visit.

This is a very good military museum. They have an extensive collection of AFVs on display and several Soviet era aircraft. The exhibits are well laid out with numerous pictures, letters and identification cards ( my favorite was Zhukovs from 1938) there is English translations provided in the vehicle parks and the exhibit on the Ukrainian defense of the Donbas in this century but very little English elsewhere. The cafeteria was wretched with only coffee for sale. But the museum is worth a trip for those with an interest in WWII.

Like tanks, gardens and monuments this is the right place. In here you can see all sort of tanks with a small description on where they were used and produced. Also they have helicopters and planes out in the open, even if you don't want to enter the museum. You can even climb 3 of those in front of the Statue to take pictures for your social Media report! It's also home of big gardens where you don't hear the city noise and can relax and enjoy the sun and calm your Spirit.

This museum is just okay. Unfortunately it is not really interactive nor informative but just a gathering of things from the past. I felt like the structure was still influenced by Soviet times. (Translated by Google) This was my 5th visit to the WWII museum, the penultimate one was about 10 years ago. In addition to the name of the museum, its content has radically changed. The first floor is reserved for modernity, on the second floor "horses and people are mingled in a heap", the chronology of events and the unity of logic have been lost, 1941 and 1943 often coexist on the same stand. Guzar is tied to the events of World War II, they remembered Japan to hang the flag of the United States (although where is Ukraine, and where is Japan), etc. As a result, if in the old days the Great Patriotic War Museum was an interesting complex of events, facts and artifacts, and the history of the Second World War on the territory of Ukraine was described almost in the logic of the Hegelian triad (thesis (1941-1942; first floor; defeats, occupation ) - antithesis (1943-1944; second floor; victories at the fronts) - synthesis (1945; third floor; Victory, Light, Eternal memory to heroes), now it is some kind of incoherent chaos, not even an attempt to present history from other positions, but simply cancel it. Summary. If you are interested in comparing how it was and how it became, then you should go. If you have never been to a museum before, then the cultural and historical value of the current exhibition is in doubt. On a positive note, entrance tickets are very affordable. For adults only 40 UAH.

Wonderful park with a huge territory, has a lot of potential to be one of the best in country, but needs improvement. There are only a couple of toilets on the grounds and they are just awful. No place to sit down and have a snack, aside from the shabby kiosk with some ice cream and sandwiches. It is good to see that some of the sights here are being restored and renovated, but some of the other ones are visibly dilapidated and falling apart. Still definitely worth a visit if it is nearby or it is a stop on your way, would not take a detour just to see it though.

(Translated by Google) The park is nice and sometimes even beautiful, despite the fact that we were in January, which was more like the end of November without snow. But it is clear that many architectural objects have not been renovated for a long time, the paths are mostly unpaved - after the rain, dirt is guaranteed, and even in dry weather, children will be able to drive few places on a scooter. Nevertheless, we liked it and will definitely come again in the spring. I was also pleased with the E95 highway from Kiev - you could go all the way for 100 and not worry about the suspension.

  • 4/5 Jagon C. 3 years ago on Google
Lots of information about the most recent attack by Russia in 2014 incl. personal testimonials, which was new to me, and WW2. Interesting monuments too including tanks, cars used in the 2014 conflict and a huge statue. The museum and the area around it are quite large so you'll need 1-2 hours to really take it all in. One downside was that it's far away from he centre so not many cafes/restaurants nearby

Amazing place, you can walk there it’s like a park with green areas and army machines displayed outside, so you can choose to walk and have a look for free or you can pay and go inside the museum to look at more details like world war 2, and recent Russian conflict in Luhansk etc
