Highly recommended! Now I know why there are so many 5-start reviews! What an absolutely lovely 4-night stay. Few times have I come across such a connected and gracious host as the hotel owner, Peggy. From delightful conversation over breakfast, to helping us make the most of our stay, Peggy was a delight. Plus, her two beloved dogs Ezra and Hugo made the experience even brighter. The hotel has loads of old-world charm. The room was clean, cozy, and well appointed. The grounds are pretty, with easy access to a pier on the lakefront to watch the sunset. We'll go back just to do it all over again.

The Livingston Inn was a wonderful B & B. Peggy, the host and owner was a lovely person, who made all of her guests and their guests welcomed. The historical home was impeccable and very beautiful. The breakfasts were delicious and the organic wine and dark sea salt Chocolate in the evening was yummy and made for a lovely end to each day.

We stayed at the Livingston Inn over the UW Madison graduation weekend to celebrate our daughter's graduation. The location was perfect for us to park our car and walk to all events in Madison all weekend. We stayed in the Lake Mendota room and had a view of the lake. The bed was like sleeping on a cloud! The room was very cozy. The Inn was so beautifully decorated and the gardens are gorgeous. But the most wonderful part of our visit was our hostess, Peggy. She was beyond welcoming and I felt like I had known her all my life. She is a fabulous cook and our breakfasts were so yummy. She also recommended some wonderful restaurants and bars because it was also Mother's Day weekend and my birthday. We are now hatching a plan to return for another Madison weekend just so we can stay with Peggy again at the Livingston Inn. Anything else we do on that weekend will just be bonus. Thank you Peggy, we had a divine experience staying with you and can't wait to do it again!

Wow! Best B&B we have stayed at thus far. Peggy is an AMAZING host-accommodating, helpful, trustworthy recommendations of local eats, and to top it all off she’s an amazing human being. Food was A+…especially her pastries. Our room was perfect (Herman’s Hideaway)-view of the lake, private, and comfortable. Loved the rainfall shower. We are coming back!

Peggy was an outstanding host. Breakfast was Swedish pancakes and sausage and plenty of beverages available throughout the day for refreshing moments of just sitting in the garden, etc.. Victorian architecture was a sight to behold especially from the perspective of a former brick and stone mason.

Such a lovely and unique historic place to stay in Madison. Beside the lake and close to the centre. Thank you Peggy for being such a super host and for all of your suggestions of places to visit. And breakfast was fabulous. Come and stay!

Peggy was an awesome host! Delicious breakfasts, beautiful rooms, and great company. We stayed here for a concert, and it was the best experience we could have asked for. The Livingston is walkable to the Sylvee, the farmer’s market, and to city bikes if you decide to go farther. We will DEFINITELY be back!

This house and overall experience were both really tremendous. Peggy, the owner, provided excellent service, including amazing breakfast every day that we stayed at the house. The rooms were large and had everything you needed. The location of the inn was quite central in Madison and is a close walk to the capitol building. Highly recommend

This is a wonderful historic inn! It's beautifully decorated with comfortable beds and linens and baths. Best of all was our host Peggy who was so welcoming, caring, and a wonderfully accommodating chef for our delicious and gluten free breakfasts. I would not hesitate to stay here again! Wine waiting for our afternoon return, a chocolate before we head to bed? It was perfect!

What a delightful place in every way!!! The property is magnificent, decorated INSANELY for Halloween, big iron gates, spooky witches. Every morning Peggy prepares the most delicious breakfasts, egg casseroles, pastries, cornbread. The parlors are magical. The guests are even friendly and eclectic. The location is perfect. Please don't stay there during parents weekend because I want to.

Lovely, clean, unique experience. Wonderful breakfasts. The true inn experience with just the right touch of great conversation and recommmendations of things to do upon arriving and at the 9 am breakfast - while otherwise having privacy to enjoy the lovely parlors (and wine decanter) at will. Peggy is charming and a great hostess.

Absolutely LOVED my stay at the Livingston Inn in Madison. Peggy is a perfect host, historian, and human who thinks of every possible want - delicious wine, Nespresso on demand, exquisite art in a comfy warm setting. Can't wait to come back!

We had such a lovely stay at The Livingston Inn! The inn was incredibly charming and beautiful and the company was even better. It was a pleasure to meet Peggy who filled our bellies with scrumptious food and our ears with great ideas in terms of how to spend our time in Madison (we were able to locate the sexy bunny - haha)! Do yourself a favor and stay here. I have no doubt that we will personally be back some day. <3

Amazing architecture, wonderful location right next to the lake... if you're visiting Madison or just need a night away, the Livingston Inn is the perfect spot. Close to all that downtown Madison has to offer, but also secluded. Could not recommend this place more! (And don't even get me started on the *amazing* Swedish pancakes...😅)

Have stayed at B&B’s in Madison before, but the Livingston Inn sets a new benchmark for service, accommodations, and of course…great breakfasts!! Peggy was the best hostess we could have asked for, and her attention to detail was second to none. We will be repeat customers!!

My husband and I stayed at The Livingston to celebrate his 50th birthday. It was a wonderful stay. Beautifully adorned room, lovely house full of historical charm, DELICIOUS breakfast. And the host was so helpful, friendly and kind. We will definitely go back!

Awesome bed and breakfast in a fantastic location in Madison. Peggy was great and helped me out by making me a dairy-free breakfast every morning. Really good room setup and awesome lakeside outdoor space. We will be back!

Everything about our stay at The Livingston Inn was fantastic! Peggy, the proprietor, was super friendly and welcoming. Her breakfasts were delicious and filling, and the breakfast table conversations were just as good as the food! The room was spacious and comfortable, as were the common rooms, and the lovely grounds. The inn is set in the Leitch House, a beautiful example of 19th century Gothic Revival architecture listed on the National Register of Historic Places.

Peggy welcomed us into one of the most inviting and kind environments for our stay in Madison! Such an incredible experience staying in such an appreciated and well-kept historical building. Family breakfasts and conversations in the parlor with complimentary glasses of wine. Our stay couldn't have been more perfect! In fact, we were so perfectly happy that my best friend and partner asked me to spend the rest of my life with him while I danced around the fireplace in the William T. Leitch room! 15/10 will be back.
