The ancient and aesthetic Sri Randumoorthy Kshetram is situated at Thrikkangode near Ottappalam in Palakkad district. This is a very unique temple as the presiding deities Shiva and Vishnu are consecrated in the “linga” form in the same sanctum. The Srikovil is in a circular pattern. The two deities, Lord Siva and Lord Vishnu are facing west. Lord Siva and Lord Vishnu in the same Srikovil in itself is the rarest occurrence and such a Prathishta, hopefully, cannot be seen anywhere in the world. The poojas to these two deities are performed separately and never together. Lord Siva and Lord Vishnu are treated as two deities in the same Srikovil. In other words, the ‘Chaithanyas’ of lord Siva and Lord Vishnu is present separately and harmoniously inside the same Garbhagriha. Both the deities are offered with Dhara (Abhishekam) every day. It is said that in no other temple, lord Vishnu is offered with daily Dhara.

This is one of the oldest temple of this area. The Name of this temple is thirukkam kode temple came from the Tamil word Thirukkan kode, which related to the lord Siva..I think this temple was built a thousand of years ago when the cholas ruled this area. In 1970 when the Land reforms bill was came to practice most of the temple including this one went to desaster stage. Now the public commitee of devotees reconstructed this temple and maintaining neatly.

This temple is believed to be one of the temples installed by Lord Parasuraman in Kerala. This ancient temple later withered away and was covered by forest for centuries together until it was found out by two Aadivasis Chakki and Chaathan. Story is that when they were cutting tree barks with their sickles they hit upon the idols and it started bleeding. Scared, they fled. When the locals came to know about this they cleared the area and found the two idols with a well by their side. Astrologers found out that these were of Shiva and Vishnu and therefore a temple was erected there.

A beautiful temple. Do not miss visiting this temple if you go to Kerala. Take a look at the pond behind the temple. The government should repair and maintain the approach road.
