One of my memorable Moment which I would never forget .Her name is Joanne and she’s the owner of the hotel where me and my roommates stayed in and when I saw her at the first time . looking at her i felt that she reminds me of my mom and to be honest from the first day of our trip she was so caring ,loving and I got so attached to that women that now she’s close to heart Ngl and also she’s a hard working women and she did give us free drinks and also spend some good conversation with her. That created a bond between us and by leaving today i got so emotional that I gave her a hug and she gave me a kiss . By this I got to know wherever you go in any corner of the world ,people with caring nature still exist 🫶🏻 GOOD PEOPLE STILL EXISTS! Period !

We had a lovely stay in the ‘penthouse suit’. The room was amazing, super clean and freshly refurbished. I would give 10 starts for value for money as we had bedroom with TV, bathroom, mini kitchen and lounge area. Location was perfect, less that a 5 minute walk from local amenities. Drinks were cheap, atmosphere was nice, and special shout-out to Gillian who was so welcoming and helpful. Really enjoyed our stay x

Had a lovely stay in this hotel,ALL of the staff were excellent, helpful and friendly and very welcoming. Will definitely be visiting again. Thank you Gillian for our lovely cocktails last night. This hotel is in a fantastic location and is very reasonably priced. Only criticism, plumbing was a bit noisy, bot not a problem, ii will look forward to my next visit. Thank you all for making our stay so enjoyable.

Have been a few times and the bar staff are consistently incredibly rude and miserable, particularly the blonde girl who is a uni student. Disappointing because poor customer service ruins an otherwise nice pub.

Lovely apartments, great location. Very clean and loads of sauce in the room and bathroom! The sweets left in a jar were an extra nice touch too.

My wife and I recently stayed here and genuinely we loved it. I honestly don’t think you can beat either the value or the location. Just fantastic!! The team were so friendly and the room itself was very comfortable and had everything we needed. Plus we loved the sweet bowl, very nice touch. We will 100% be back and I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel to friends and family. 5 stars all the way.

As the sun set on the 9th of July, shining a brilliant light on the City Bar, I sauntered inside and was greeted by a pair of incredibly cordial bar staff. They were extremely attentive and had a vast knowledge of the building's history and all the available drinks. 10/10 experience, would recommend this place to anyone and their nan. Brought my son (18) here for his first drink and the bartenders taught him about responsible bibation. Splendid experience!!

Good environment, 8th room is he best. But the noise. But decoration workers start early in the morning, preventing holiday visitors from enjoying a restful sleep. I got out of bed to argue. I said check out at eleven o 'clock. Could you stop making noise until all the guests had left? The answer I got was a cold No. Very rude.

We absolutely loved our stay at The City Hotel. The room was beautiful and spotless! The girls downstairs were so kind and welcoming, felt like home from home. We’ll defo be back!

Very nice hotel i stayed here a while ago when i had a few problems with another accomodation and i was able to stay here for around 4-5 nights. The owner was super attentive and the girl's downstairs were lovely. Very clean and tidy, and you forget it's above a pub. Only sometimes the noise is not good until around 11pm but i didn't want too knock it down any stars for that. Thanks for looking after me

We did not stay in the hotel but we visit regularly, we can’t speak more highly of the whole place, the staff are lovely , drinks competitively priced, lovely decor very cosy and welcoming. Top location Can’t list any more positives although I’m sure there are some. 😊 Hope to see you there soon

Lovely, clean and spacious penthouse, and at a fab price. Very welcoming; Gillian was especially friendly and knowledgeable. Great situation and only a couple of mins stroll to the centre of Durham. We will definitely be back!

Fantastic, me and my brother stayed Thursday gone, we were greeted by the lovely Gillian and stayed in room 1. What a sweet little room and lovely and clean throughout. Lovely gesture with the sweets and great tea /coffee facility's and a lovely bathroom, great atmosphere in the evening in the bar. Overall great reasonable price too, many thanks. Colin Smart

Very central location. Parking just a short walk away and not expensive at all. Quirky old building, which makes a nice change to bland big name hotels. Staff were very friendly and helpful. The room and the ensuite were spotless. I had a very comfortable stay. Only downside was they were having trouble with the heating, but they very swiftly supplied a fan heater & I was quite happy. The rooms are above a bar. I stayed on Monday night, so didn't experience the weekend crowd, so it was not very noisy. However there were doors opening and closing, voices, and water pipes gurgling until about midnight. Just part of an old building being used & I wasn't trying to sleep because I'm a night owl. It might not suit someone who wants to turn in early though. I'd be happy to stay there again if I returned to Durham.
