Great bird-watching primarily for Puffins but also great for Manx shearwater. Spring on Skomer Island is a colourful affair with bluebells and pink campion carpeting most of the island. The colours are so vivid they can easily be seen from the mainland.

Fantastic place to visit, stunning scenery and magical place, the puffins are a joy to behold. Well worth the effort, and the narrow country lanes to get to the car park. Please note, advance booking for the 15 minute boat ride across is highly recommended (and possibly essential), plus please bear in mind you need to be pretty active in order to make the 87 steep step climb to the path once on the island. Also be advised there are minimal facilities with only one toilet block (at the farm), and no refreshments save for bottled water at the boat drop off point (once you have climbed the steps). Remember to stay on the path at all times to avoid disturbing the bird life, and you will have a great time. For info, Puffin watching season is April to July!

This is a truly special day out for people of any age. We loved seeing all the puffins in their natural habitats and the volunteers and staff are super friendly and knowledgeable. It’s clear that the wildlife is very well cared for and protected here.

This island is like a dream. We went here to see the puffins, but we also enjoyed the spectacular view of bluebells and campion blooms. Lots of other wildlife in the island too such as the meadow pipits, bunny rabbits, greater white throat and supposedly manx shearwater, although we were only able to see the carcasses of the latter since they only come back to the island during the night.

Wow, just an amazingly great place to visit and see the puffins and other birds. Our second visit, our first being 17 years ago. Take food and drink with you. We visited the island in May and saw hundreds of puffins. The walk around the island is full of amazing sights and views. I would recommend going without fail but remember to book on line. Enjoy 😁

It was such a lush experience being here - it's a very special place, globally. Puffin populations are declining globally, but increasing on Skomer!! It's incredible to see them so close, I am 110% going back to see them at another point during their breeding season, when they're feeding the chicks. I was lucky enough to see some puffins greet each other after months apart (they pair for life) and see some gathering nest materials, it's a truly special place. It really is.

Absolutely brilliant day out at Skomer, no rain, 15Β°c. Places to have picnic and toliets. Even though there are many people on the island with you, it never gets crowded. You can properly enjoy the wildlife, it was absolutely amazing to see the Puffins and they come up so close if you stay still so you don't need a fancy camera. Definitely come again if my other half lets me, best birthday present I have had 😊 We went in May and you could still see the bluebells πŸ’•
