The food was lovely. We had the Sunday lunch. The beef was cut thin, so easy to eat. Friendly waiting on staff. The pub still looked really beautiful inside.

We had a table booked for 1pm today for Sunday lunch, we arrived 15 minutes early. We were greeted by a waitress, given a couple of menus and told to order our food and drinks at the bar, so we chose a table and I went to the bar to order to be told they could not serve us until 1pm!! It wasn't particularly busy. The tables where filthy. The food was nice but when we had finished and were leaving the barmaid or waitress did not even ask us if we had enjoyed our meal. We said thank you and goodbye to be grimaced at by her. It is such a shame about the service and cleanliness as the food was lovely.

Stayed here after attending a nearby wedding. Pub itself was really nice and the service was great. Room was really small and had to edge yourself sideways to get round the bed or reach the bathroom. Bed was really comfy but unfortunately the shower was filthy with grime all round the door and really dirty grouting surrounding the tiles. Neither of us used it. Worth I would say nearer to £50 than the £85 we paid. However, breakfast was really nice in the morning.

Absolutely disgusted with the attitude of staff & the manager at this establishment. Do not take anyone here if they have a disability, they make you feel like an embarrassment & laugh with staff & customers when they think your not listening. Went this evening with my hubby & Autistic daughter, who has major eating issues . Granted the light bite meal had finished , but asked if they would kindly be able to make a simple jam sandwich that they offer on there light bite menu, much easier than a cooked meal in which our child would not eat due to texture & taste. My hubby & I where more than happy to have had a full 3 course meal & paid whatever was requested for the jam sandwich, we were told the chef was unable to accommodate this request , we asked if the manager could ask again , he replied I’m the manager & it’s not on the menu, he made me feel stupid & belittled to have a child with a disability. I walked out of the bar area to wait at the car , when my hubby walked back in the pub the staff & customers where laughing about it only being a jam sandwich, to them that’s a mockery , but to my autistic child that’s a big deal . This is why we don’t eat out that often ‘ when we can persuade our daughter we are met with ignorance from adults who should know better & if not then need to be educated into special needs . Absolutely fuming my 10 year old had to witness this ignorance. Do not go here

We stayed for 2 nights 26th and 27th of May on arrival the staff were fantastic and really very helpful provided us with all information needed during our stay. Staff were all friendly and couldn’t do enough for us during our stay. We had breakfast both mornings the service was again fantastic and the food was outstanding. Throughout our stay the staff couldn’t do enough for us and we’re always polite and had a smile of there faces. Rooms were very clean and the bed was comfortable great outdoor seating area overall our experience was great and really good value for money will definitely stay again when in the area

Called in for a late lunch on the way back from Cheshire Oaks, best decision we’ve made that day, staff very pleasant went for the Gammon steak and the wife went for Haddock. both meals were cooked to perfection, the Gammon Steak was the best that I’ve had in a very long while. highly recommended. Will be returning sooner than later to sample something else from the menu

Bad food, poor service and a car park management company (I don't agree with their restricted communication for reply or appeal). This used to be a nice pub, don't think we will be back. No one asked about the food until the end, oven cooked chips, dry peas, chewy tasteless poor quality fish, staff then said sorry and presented a bill for the full amount, couldn't have been that sorry!!

Convenient access from the canal. Good quality food and very good value, £15 cheaper for similar than the Dysart Arms. The Guinness was very good. The interior is very smart, and the staff were polite, friendly courteous. This pub is dog friendly and only 10 mins walk from the staircase locks on the canal. Well worth a visit, during a boating holiday.

Rooms very good size, clean, comfy beds and great selection of hot & cold beverages. Food & drink reasonably priced and very tasty. All in all, beautiful place and excellent value for money. Had a one night stay here, going to a wedding reception at Peckforton Castle. Very reasonable priced, staff friendly and good service. Comfortable bed, rooms not massive but adequate for what we needed. Clean would stay again. 👌

Was treated for afternoon lunch with friends, a super location plenty of parking. A great lunch menu and lunch deal on offer, very swift service and very wholesome tasty food. Lovely helpful professional attentive discreet staff. The pub is dog friendly too, they offer dog beds, water and treats which is so kind. I'd recommend visiting and eating here, with or without your 4 legged companion. Thank you 😊

MG the pub was on four in a bed 10 years ago so of no relevance to the current owner who has created the ambience and style of the pub you currently visited. You need to rate on current findings not very old comparisons. It has great atmosphere with good food, great staff and good value.

Really nice pub, food was excellent. Every member of staff was very friendly. Seemed like nothing was a bother. Room was clean, floors a bit creaky but they say it's being addressed. Shower needs some TLC. Very reasonably priced and breakfast was included. Used as a stop off onto lake District.

The food was delicious. The staff were all lovely. Perfect location for a night stop over en route to somewhere. Sadly i can only rate the room 3 stars. The quality of food and the staff would make the rooms "okay" The rooms were not filthy but they could do with a little more thorough cleaning. The shower stall definetly needed a GOOD clean. Was rather disgusting. There was an awful amount of someones hair in the room. The wifi didn't work in our room. I would like to put once more FOOD is delicious. We both had full english brekkie.

Fantastic place to visit for a cheeky drink and great food. There's plenty of space for children to play out side in the garden , there is under cover seating outside. As mentioned at the beginning the food is great the staff are all welcoming and friendly and if you want to take your pooches then do it's also dog friendly plus it has a couple of rooms to rent So everyone who can give it a try.

First time here but was made very welcome by the staff and landlord. Pub not open Mondays and Tuesdays except Bank Holidays Did not have any food but those who did eat there food looked very good. Really good outside garden with benches on a lawned area. And a fantastic professional stretched covered area for rainy days and heaters for the cold weather. Children friendly and dogs. Even got water barrels with dishes for the dogs Can really recommend this place

We stayed overnight and had lunch, evening meal and breakfast. The service was absolutely amazing, professional whist still having the personal touch. The good is out of this world.. probably the best steak I've ever eaten, but the chicken wings... Those were definitely the best, the terriaki sauce was delicious. The room was clean and well appointed. Can't fault the location, the service the food or the room We will be returning soon

Arrived on Sunday. Hadn't made a booking but we were lucky that one last table was available. Felt very welcome by the lovely staff and the Sunday roast was excellent. We do go to this place on a quite regular basis. Would recommend.

Looking for a snack on the way back from Chester and have been past this place many, many times and never stopped.... I'm now asking myself why not 🤬🤬🤬.. The food was exceptional, the staff were all lovely, attentive and polite... I would highly recommend this place and will be using more often... As another plus side you can take your little furry friends into the bar area whilst you eat 👍🏻👍🏻

We dropped in when passing through. We arrived just after midday and we service was very prompt and friendly. The potato and leek soup was delicious and three meat roast was perfection. I am just sorry I am not likely to be able to visit again. If they were my local, I would be in heaven.

Having recently moved into the area and this place being our local, wanted to try. Bit disappointed with the Sunday lunch. Its not bad, average I'd say. Only 3 slices of meat cut very thinly, a massive Yorkshire pudding, not homemade, 3 potatoes, a bit of mixed veg and gravy. Asked for horseradish and it came in the smallest of pots made of paper, not enough for the 3 of us, we had to ask for more. The puddings are not homemade either, I opted for cheesecake it was like one of the frozen ones you get from Iceland. None of the puddings were homemade. Didn't really think it was good value for money, had much better Sunday lunch in the local area. The staff were very nice and we did have good service. Will go again but only for a drink.
