Traveled all the way to Chester during the nice weather to hire one of the motor boats down the canal to only be refused as we were apparently intoxicated however offered to supply a breathalyser sample to which we were laughed at. Never felt so degraded by a ‘professional’ company with my partner. After watching many others on the canal who were clearly not in control on the motor vehicle I felt the company a sham! Was probably a blessing in disguise as the prices where extortionate. Wouldn’t even give 1 star if there was a option

Met with family on sunday 30th Aug & my hsband took kids/grandkids out on the river curtesy of hire company Chester Boats. Kids throughly loved being out on the River Dee, but us adults were absolutely aghast at the hygiene regime or rather lack of as watched the guys as they wiped down the boats (& childrens life jackets) with dirty, disgusting looking rags.......I was sat on seats watching as they wiped boat after boat with the same rags. As soon as my family got off their boat I smothered their hands in sanatising gel. Chester Boats you really need to relook at your hygiene because it is sorely lacking.....

We went for the half hour cruise as we didn't have time for the longer 2 hour one. Pleasant sail along the River with a very informative commentary. The staff were very friendly and knowledgeable. Can definitely recommend this cruise, and will be returning in the future for the longer trip.

We went for a 2 hour trip and the time flew by! The captain was knowledgeable and very entertaining, as was the steward who couldn't have been more helpful. The views were incredible, we saw lots of wildlife and I would definitely recommend

Hired a motor boat £25 for 25 minutes, also have to give a £20 deposit which you get back on return if your not late ect. Was lovely to go up the river, my 3 children (12,10,8) loved it too

Our 30 minute cruise was a great way to see parts of Chester which we would never have seen otherwise. The staff were very polite and helpful and the boat was reasonably comfortable. Very enjoyable!

Incredibly rude to me and my girlfriend. One of the guys who works there thought it was appropriate to start shouting at me for the crime of helping to steady the rowing boat with a hand to stop it touching the side of the pier, which as an exepienced rower since childhood is simply good etiquette. He went from 0 to shouting and it made literally zero sense in the context, it was incredibly rude and me and my girlfriend both felt it was simply not on. I stood up and asked who was shouting at me, and he said "Well you weren't listening".... which makes no sense as it was the first thing he had communicated and his method of delivery was shouting. Basically I got shouted at like a dog for touching the rowing boat I was about to get into. 0/5.

Beautiful spot on the canal great walking and cycling trails and a coffee shop that over looks the boats

It was a fun day out for the kids. They have rowing, pedal and motor boats. One can ride for 30 mins. We have to time our rides. A deposit was taken and duly returned as soon as the boat was returned.

Really lovely experience. I went with my younger cousin and she had the time of her life. Alright price for 30 minutes but the deposit was a bit much- £20 for paddleboating with £30 deposit. Overall would recommend.

Very clear instructions from staff. Safe they keep their eyes on you. I didn’t like the fact that they are extra cautious with you. It is a little tense. Pricing is good but they have max 30 minutes no more.

Fantastic experience hiring the private picnic boat ‘Bonkie’ to take us to our wedding reception in Eccleston. Easy to book, beautiful boat and professional service. Would love to hire again for a fun trip out on the Dee. Thank you.

Not cheap but a fun way to spend time on the river. Options include power boats for £30 for half an hour, pedalos at £20 for half an hour and rowing boats at £10 for half an hour.
