£19 for 2 breakfasts with coffees.. Sausages were way over cooked and hard to eat, one mushroom cut into four and that's it. Toast was basically bread and butter And the egg was burnt. Coffee was just hot milk. It's a shame as it was lovely last time we ate there. Wont be returning!

The rooms are small but clean. The showers have a plastic filter over the plug hole. Be careful with this has if you don't notice and accidentally put your foot on it then the shower will over flow and flood the bathroom and go through the ceiling. This happened to one of my friends and we lost the accidental money. These filters would be better off being made of metal or at least being given a warning. The food isn't up to much either. The baguettes they used for the packed lunch were hard and the evening meal they provided wasn't that good. Best thing to do is get food from some where else. There is a Greggs and a couple of decent takeaways within a short walking distance.

Couldn't recommend enough. All of the staff were so friendly and accommodating in every way. To my surprise the beds were very comfy which I wouldn't normally expect from a hostel style accommodation. Rooms were quite hot but it was a record breaking heat wave and Wales isn't normally known for its extreme heat!

Been here a few times. Car park is just a short walk away and if you're lucky some street parking. I like the breakfast here, and price point is good and a good size. The place could do with a face lift but all the meals I've had here have been good value.

The stay was clean and comfortable. The problem we did come into was the way a complaint against our group was handled by Merlins. When we sat down for breakfast on the Saturday morning the lady serving shouted at us in front of all the other groups that were staying at Merlins that we were far too loud Friday night once we had gone upstairs to the room and we must be quiet Saturday night. She then went on to repeat this several times before telling us we will have to wait for breakfast as she has other tables to serve. Despite over half of our group sitting down at our allocated time. It was quite shocking to experience and something I haven't had to endure since leaving school about 16 years ago. We had our breakfast and afterwards we were asked for the deposit for the room. When giving the same lady the deposit I bought it up with her that whilst I appreciate complaints must be dealt with, there is a manor in which complaints should be handled and being shouted at in front of everyone is not acceptable. Instead of a professional response I was met with a barrage of reasons as to why it was acceptable to shout at us at breakfast. When the further humiliation ended I turned around to pick my bag up to leave for caving only to hear her say to her colleague that "we don't have to stay there if we don't want too". We made sure to spend our money behind the bar across the road after caving instead of at Merlins. On Friday night we stayed in the bar until it closed at midnight. Went upstairs and 4 of us chatted until around 01:15-01:30. We were told twice to be quiet by the person that was sat in the corridor outside our room. The rest of our group went to sleep in the same room we were chatting in. We appreciate the other groups that were there were slightly older and a lot more docile than our group but there must be some leniency towards that fact that it is a hostel and there will be noise made by large groups of friends especially after drinking.

We went once. Not a very nice place but as an alternative to a cafe it is OK.

Called at Merlin's ordered vegetation breakfast quick service food okay. No covid restrictions yet again being adhered to. No masks worn by staff or other customers. Sadly will give this place a miss for quite a while.
