Battery Dantzler Historical Site

Tourist attraction

👍👍 Nice place named after a cousin of mine, Colonel Olin Dantzler. He was also in charge of the troops in SC who spotted the signal light from the Hunley after it sank the Housatonic. These places are getting wiped out unfortunately. People often mention site,

it's a rather run down, little to see site that has little in the way of earth works, archeology, or views available of what the original site was like. apart from some information boards at the entrance and praising the community for sponsoring the site it it quite a let down for a historical site

This is a real hidden gem. With views of the James river and a bench to boot. I also had beautiful hawks flying overhead.

Interesting area to wander for a few minutes. Good signage about the history of the site as well as a view of the river.

Off the main path site of the last naval battle in the War, Trent's Reach. Small county site with historical markers telling the story.

Very quaint small park in the middle of no where that is a nice area to visit and learn about the war. Each marker is filled with detailed information.

Great little spot, especially if you want to take a short walk, or catch pokemon go!

Not much here. Theres a bench that overlooks the river but the trees are overgrown so its hard to tell.
