Very poor service from this HPO if it still is one. Self serv machines always out of order and chronic under staffing leads to long waits for even quick items like stamps. 6 serving positions and only one staffed today with the usual queue. Post office you need to improve.

Discusting staff absolutely not helpful at all very rude . I was in there today ,wouldn't help me ,one women came from round the desk and was really intimidating ,I thought at one point she was going to lunge from me ,she knew she was in the wrong so she shouted to another lady to get security onto me ,I was so humiliated and my anxiety was through the roof and she could see I was upset but carried on being a bully

Absolute nightmare....stood over 20 mins in the que to have passport checked to be told they not doing them today..Saturday probably the busiest day of the week for people to sort out their passports and no help on offer... Only one member of staff on que massive not the staff members fault she was doing her best. Get a grip post office if you offer a service then staff the counters .

Truly one of the worst experiences I’ve ever had in a post office. I went in to deposit some money into my account, as the machine in my bank was out of service, and there was only one woman working. To say this woman had a terrible attitude is putting it lightly - she was shouting to the woman in front of me, complaining she hasn’t had a break since half 10 and needed the bathroom and that we couldn’t deposit our money - of course apparently a bathroom break is an hour. Is this the only woman who works at this post office?

First and last time using their service in this branch. Friday afternoon and only one counter open??!!!!! Are you having a laugh? I've waited over 30min and when I joined the queue wasn't even as long, by the time I was leaving it was twice as many people and in meantime many just gave up with waiting.

Truly the worst post office I’ve ever been to. I only wanted travel money 1 waited 20 mins whilst the 2 staff where behind the counter hiding I had to ask the poor staff on the till to get them to help twice. Why is there self service for posting also when there is no one to help. Appalling post office. Just a reflection of the town centre

Queued 20 minutes for my driving licence renewal to be told "short staff, can't do it" Seriously 🀬 every customer should be treated the same regardless of a 2nd class stamp or driving license! Also a certain member of staff needs to learn some basic customer service, confidentially & manners! Repeating at the top of her voice how much cash older customers were withdrawing so the whole shop could hear, disgusting. How she spoke to other members off staff, no manners, just pure rude, even my 12 year old daughter picked up on how rude she was!

Waited over 25min to be served as it was significantly under staffed. Then I was served by very opinionated rude staff member. Making comments about my situation an reasons for being there. Very unprofessional. Go to an out of town smaller branch always much more welcoming an professional

Absolutely the worst post office I have ever been to. I queued 45 minutes to post a parcel today, only one cashier open, an incredibly slow cashier which took an average of 10 minutes per customer, 4 other employees doing absolutely nothing. I note the people there are incredibly friendly but the service is not up to standard. @Royal Mail, it is unacceptable that you spend taxpayers money so inefficiently. Please can you urgently address the issues at this post office?

I've got a good idea.....if you're going to change the hours to reflect lunchtime closing on a Saturday (rather than much later)....update your Google profile FIRST - and take the action SECOND

Renewed my passport today. What a breeze . All filled in plus picture by Frank behind the counter. Easiest renewal I've ever done. Well done the post office. Well done Frank. πŸ‘

I've given 1 star just to be able to do a review . Went in yesterday and I'm not joking the staff member who looks like was in charge and was so wound up because she had to work on her day off. I've never hered any member of staff in all my life be sooooo rude to a couple for no reason at all .the couple did complain to the manager and so did i. I'm hoping when i go in again not to shop just to see if she got the sack

Before the pandemic they only used to have 3 members of staff working. Now there's only 2 on a good day, and try not to get stuck with a certain member of staff, you could be there all day talking to him.

I'd recommend going to the post office for either your first or your renewal of a passport, i chosen this one because it's my nearest. I was helped by a very lovely lady who did everything for me all i did was sign she even took my photograph and posted off my old passport for me, i received my renewal passport in 11 days from my application to my letterbox the old one came back about a week later ( this was in the first week of January 2023 when i applied)it's worth spending the few pound extra for a service second to none knowing that your going to receive it back without any problems.

I have looked at other reviews on here , I can honestly say I had to renew my driving licence, if you are patient enough the service is ok as they had not got many staff on , I waited patiently and as far as I'm concerned the staff what was on did there job well thankyou post office πŸ‘

Have been waiting more than half an hour for 1 customer. Terrible service, no urgency, complete disrespect for the customers in line.

I've had lots and lots of issues here over the years but I do think they are trying to sort things out in all fairness. They are often understaffed and I've heard talk a few times that it might be closed. I have had a Β£574.00 energy bill go 'missing' using the self service system, luckily I kept hold of the receipt! Staff also seem reluctant to send 'large letter' parcels instead opting to put parcels through as small parcels without even checking them through the size slot, which can be frustrating. I'm hoping things improve here, I do think they are now heading the right way with a few more friendly and helpful staff members.

It’s been over 2 years since I’ve been using this post office and nothing has changed, very very long waits, always short staffed, there 6 positions available but you will always find 1 or 2 staff at maximum

I am not happy!!! After paying extra for the post office to do my passport and for them to take my photo and send it off suddenly my passport application has been rejected because the photo isn't correct. Not happy at all and when you try to phone to ask for advice there is no direct number to call!!! This is not good at all!!

This post office is shocking. So slow, poorly staffed. I have waited in a queue for over 40 mins to send a parcel and had to leave without posting it. I have to use this post office as I work full-time in the area where this office is and it is always like this. Today the machines to self serve wasn't working. Extremely bad if possible avoid at all costs . I give one star as it won't let you give none.

Diabolical. Nowhere near enough staff to cope with the demand, queues are nearly always horrendous. This is supposedly Chesterfield's main Post Office; I wouldn't even bother. May as well shut for the use it is. I've stopped going there completely now because I just can't cope with it. I go to the locals instead. At least there you stand a chance of getting done what you need to get done. Nowhere near good enough. Not even close.

Wanted to tax my vehicle and declare it as an historical vehicle as it is over 40 years old. Two members of staff on duty neither of whom knew how to do it. They wanted me to wait 20 mins as the only member of staff who could do it was on his break. Pathetic service. The only main post office near me where I can do this, and they didn't know how. Staff training required or give up the franchise

This is honestly the worst experience I have had anywhere. The young lady behind the counter is honestly the rudest person I have ever met. She is clearly in the wrong job. Absolutely disgusting attitude. I'm assuming she was in charge as she was shouting at some of the other staff. I will not be back.

Not even worth one STAR only put one on to write a review 😑 The WORST post office in the dead and dying town centre. Staff rudeness is well over the top, waiting time is a standing JOKE . Came in this morning to post a next day delivery parcel and was told by the RUDE member of staff that she didn't have time to write out the address for me on a special delivery wallet envelope and told me to do it myself as she had a big que and moaning to me about being stressed. Now I am autistic and have learning difficulties and struggle to read and write and have to have people help me with stuff like this. In the end I just walked out and went to another post office where the staff were more helpful, friendly and understanding towards my difficulties. I will NEVER be using Chesterfield town centre wh smiths post office EVER again. I would like an apology from this member of staff but I suppose that's far too much to ASK for these days? 😑 This member of staff was even rude to a couple of other customers too. If this woman is having problems at home, then you should leave the problems at home and not bring them with you to work. This member of staff calls herself the manager needs sacking!!!!!!!!

Went on Saturday as I work full-time (fancy that) to renew my driving license, having seen other reviews & been WH Smith's before I was a bit apprehensive so I tried to call ahead, but there's no direct number & the automated service wasn't clear. So I headed down there was a queue. There were no signs to indicate services were not available & there was 1 person at the desk several people were turned away but I couldn't over hear as to why. Someone else tried to question the lady who was briefly away from the desk, but was told they needed to queue to ask a question. By now I was pretty sure that I wasn't going to get the service advertised at the branch & that I had particularly wanted. But I'd bumped into a work colleague & as I had especially come for this I queued. On getting to the person serving I more or less said I guess I'd be disappointed, she confirmed that she couldn't renew my license as she was the only one on. When questioned she said that this was a regular occurrence & when asked why there wasn't a sign she said she didn't have time which made little sense considering the frequency this appeared to happen & the amount of time spent answering individuals who were wanting digital services. The number for the branch for complaints is simply a referral service to online complaints & another number. I am going to complain but due to the fact this seems to be been an issue for sometime it obviously seems head office don't care at all. Considering this is the main office for around 10 miles to serve the whole chesterfield area. This "service" is frankly not good enough. For anything other than core postal services on the weekend don't bother
