Don't be fooled by the name!! There is no fort over there! Only some walls of the fort but very less people and a beach nearby. No security or anyone to tell you not to do stuff. Won't advice to go at night or alone since it's so empty but otherwise can get some good photos.

Alamparai fort was built by the Mugals in 1700s.Later on captured and destroyed by the British. The fort right now under the Tamil Nadu govt is in ruined state. One get a feeling of time stopping here. Nice place for afternoon nap. Ancient trade hub. I was the only person present at the fort. 😀

Covered under 4 walls, nothing interesting. You can park your vehicle inside the fort and walk across. A small path towards the sea is there, you can have fun in sea water as it's just upto your knee level. Apart from that, it's just the left over debris

This area has no fort left only some of the walls left of the fort and some of the small structures available. But view wise it's good to take photos because it's available on the side of the sea. Only u can take photos there this is not a specific tourist spot. No shops and snakes are available nearby as a picnic spot u can choose.

LOCATION :- ECR ★ KADAPAKKAM BEFORE BEACH , HAVE TO TAKE RIGHT- Road signs is mentioned. Plenty of parking available, you can take your vehicle Inside. Police rounds was often during holidays. Ultimate party place. This is a Natural port used by Mughals /Nawabs during the 17th century, Wonderful location. Only the fort walls you can see rest all destroyed Can spend time near the back waters 🔗 Sea . No Shops for snacks & tea, coffee. You can get fresh fish & dry fish outside the fort. Buy everything on the main road and go Relaxed. One Mosque is there inside the empty Fort. Our Tamil Nadu Govt can create a New port For Fishermen.

The backwaters, broken walls and empty land this all about Alamparai fort...!!! If you are going with group of friends then this place is ok . You can relax yourself here and have a dive in the backwaters and have fun. There are few spots to get awesome photographs..!! you can see locals using the back waters to catch fish..!! even few locals take you for boating by charging some money..!! No Shops...!! you need to carry water bottles, snack and foods with you..!! stock everything necessary before reaching alamparai fort..!! The inside route to reach the fort is only safe if you are going as a group..!! this place is mostly used by locals and there is nothing much special about this place..!! there will be many broken bottles and wastes everywhere do not walk on bare foot because that could hurt you and sometimes may lead to seizures..!! I would never recommend this place to anyone.

I would recommend this place to those who love serenity and peace. And those who had strong imagination power to sit around the sea shore of this fort and imagine all the battles this fort faced. Even British demolished this on 1760 to win over French colonies. That period it was a fort cum port for traders. Though today nothing much left except the boundary walls, its great to visit in early morning in January 2023.

Clean beach with less crowd. Fort is completely damaged and eroded. There are only walls and some stairs. But the beach is good and clean. You can take your vehicle up till the beach shore and enjoy.

It's a 1 hr drive from Pondicherry. The road to this place is in good condition. If you plan to visit this place extra clothes and food is a must. The backwaters here is the best place for enjoying with family than the pools in city. You can also plan boating with the local fishermen. It's safe if you visit in groups since the place is a little deserted.

Wonderful and sobering reminder of our history. The ruins of Alamparai Fort are not much to see, but what is there has stood the rest of time. There is evidence that some restoration has been attempted but too little too late. The red brick walls stand in stark contrast to the sky and sea. Would be good to have some dustbins and cleaning done on the site, remove the trees and plants growing between the cracks of the existing structures. Has potential to be developed as a pleasant historical picnic spot for families.

This is 17th century fort located in the middle of Chennai and Pondicherry. The fort is located on the beach and very close to Mahabalipuram. A portion of fort is left but you can see the walls. This is very old but an amazing place to enjoy some time. Beach is super clean and have beautiful view. The fort is little inside and around 4 km from ECR. Must visit place. Sharing few photographs with you 😊

This is a very old fort, the roads to this fort go through Village, going here for Sun rise is the best.! You can visit this place to take photographs and enjoy sunrise and sunset, I would prefer you not to stay here late at night as it feels like a haunted place.

Unexplored place of pondy where it contains an ancient broken architecture building along with coastal beach area. Nice place for weekend photography and chilling. If you don't just want to visit beach and want to see any ancient places around it , then it's a good option for you. Please don't litter 🙏.

A very old fort now in ruins. There’s no entry fee and one can drive through the fort complex. The boatmen takes people on their boats which provides a panoramic view of the fort.

Alamparai Fort is approx 50 kms from Pondicherry. Its a seaside fort as well as a port dating back to 1740AD. What remains are the brick walls and very minimal ruins, which I would attribute to the tsunami in the not so distant past. But the location and the view are absolutely breathtaking. We missed the sunrise, but I am sure that would be spectacular too. The beach is gently sloping and number of sandbars break the waves, giving it a relatively calm feel next to the fort. A must include in the itinerary to trip to Pondicherry.

Alamparai fort in the beach shore has a good scenic view, you can actually take beautiful pictures. Ruins of the fort surrounded by trees and beach is a bliss. There is option for boat ride also. When we went renovation work was on progress, hope govt maintains and promotes this place

Just the ruins of the fort compound wall. Police doesnt allow you to enter the sight. The reason given by them was it's a murder sight. We dibt know that and entered then later sent out by the police. I think the tourism board should look into this. Not a very safe place to go.

It is a rare find. The fort is in ruins. But once it is restored (currently work in progress by the Archeological dept), it would definitely be a worthy place.

"This place has only ruins of the fort. But the major attraction is the seashore and backwaters. It's very peaceful and serene and good place to hangout with family..And yeah a best place for photo shoot📸

  • 4/5 Syed R. 3 years ago on Google
Good for photo shoot and you can try boating as well. Plan your trip in the morning or evening hours as you can not find any sun roof. If you are travelling via ECR it's a good add on.

A fort that has few leftover portions here and there. Beach being closer to it, adds to the beauty of the fort. Enjoyed the beach by getting myself wet into Bay of Bengal.

Worth the drive by scooty. Great historical site right on a pristine lagoon. The old walls have fallen down onto the beach in areas and makes a great picnic location with no people to spoil it.

  • 4/5 Vivek R. 3 years ago on Google
Currently its under lock based on GO. But the ride to this place was nice. Placed along side sea shore, a place of calmness and serenity. Am sure once the fort is opened to Public again, its a place on my to visit list.

This place is a 2 km away from the ECR. The route near the place is scenic with a small lighthouse and boating. The fort is just a few ruined fort walls but the views of the ocean are beautiful.

Ruins of Alamparai Fort by the sea. Deserted place, better visit in a group rather than alone. Easily accessible from ECR, the Google maps will take you directly inside the fort.

  • 3/5 Avinash T. 11 months ago on Google
There is no fort at all, only some ruins (broken walls and doors are there. But the best thing is the beach near the fort. That's awesome. Very safe beach for the kids to play in water. Since, many people are still unaware of it, it's clean and very beautiful.

  • 5/5 Tanuj L. 1 year ago on Google
A peaceful and picturesque little nook that has a quaint little beach where you can wet your feet. Not much by way of architecture to see, except for the some old stone walls, but there's something about the quiet beauty of the place that gets you. Definitely worth a 20-30 min visit if you want a break en route to Pondicherry

This fort located at the village called Alambarai Fort which seems to be built during Islamic ruling period and now becomes a tourist spot. Close by seashore makes people feel peaceful. One special thing about this place is a River and Sea meets and mixes with one another. Predominant food of this village people are Fish, Crab and Prawn since this village people go to sea everyday to catch the above species for food and business as well. Places around this village are full of Palm trees and Mango trees estate. I recommend this place for those who want to enjoy one day trip with village food and peaceful location. Come here and enjoy this scenario...have a great outing....Thanks..

This is a seaside Historical place in the highway connecting chennai and mahabalipuram... Govt is repairing the fort. Work is going on..

  • 2/5 Sabareesh k. 9 months ago on Google
No entry fees nor anyone is there to take care of the fort. Literally nothing to see except the view to the sea. You can see trash lying inside. Beware of going for bath in the water backside, also taking boat rides offered by the locals for money. I don't think they are operating with the proper paperwork from the TN government.

  • 5/5 Ardes A. 3 years ago on Google
It's a old port with 4 large walls and empty space in of close to 10-15 acres. Govt has taken up renovation and rebuild work in the recent times. Approach Road to this place is in very good condition. Water front is mostly used by local fishermen and can see the fishing boats parked. Very few tourists as there is nothing much for entertainment but people with love to architecture and heritage sites it's worth a visit.

There is nothing but ruins inside this fort, but u can enjoy the calmness and sea breeze. Only outer wall of fort remains now!! U can sit under the trees with for having food and a powe nap, beware of crows they will surround u once open the food 😎😎

Historical place to visit, I could not find any memorable items except the wall surrounded all the sides. No maintenance at all by any of the departments. At least the local panchayat should have maintained and convert it as a tourist spot.
