You will feel smart, unique and special, just like a secret agent those days. Everything fits this level of prices: the service, the sophisticated atmosphere and the quality of food. Does it worth the price? Absolutely. DO NOT miss the starter lychee with prawns. That dish is enough for me to return to this restaurant. One drawback: I prefer different style of pricing strategies: Charge more for food and provide free water. Don’t expect customers to find a 200 baht charge for chang still water on the bill (worth 10 baht) and be happy about it. After all, secret agent don’t mind paying more, but not to be fooled. Having said that, this restaurant is going directly to my 20 best restaurants on the planet.

The Khao Soi came with spices so you could customize how spicy to make it. Don't be shy about asking the staff for recommendations, they are so helpful and friendly. Beautiful outdoor and indoor seating areas. They provide a natural mosquito repellent outdoors which I appreciated. Lots of choices on the menu and photos of the food to help you decide.

Really good steak. Very expensive though and the atmosphere wasn't great, it was too dark and there were loads of mosquitoes (even though we were seated inside). Our meal for two cost 6400 baht. We had three courses each. I recommend walking around the hotel after your meal, it's really lovely how it's lit up at night (especially the water features). There's an upstairs cocktail bar that looks lovely to sit in for a while.

I think my visit to the Service 1921 was the best dining and bar experience I have ever had in Thailand. The schezuan inspired food was incredible and cocktails absolutely fantastic. The hostess P and bartender Opal were two of the most fantastic hospitality staff I have met - Anantara are lucky to have them! The decor was gorgeous. Can't wait to come back.

I had high hopes for this restaurant but was a bit let down mostly due to a number of very easily fixable issues with the waitstaff. Presentation was creative and attractive at first, but was diminished by a few common factors throughout the dining experience. The 2-3 waitresses serving me were very nice. However, I found myself calling for their attention multiple times. I was there around 5:30pm, as a single diner so it wasn’t that busy. Unfortunately, what I observed was them being much more attentive to the older more “affluent” in appearance couples on a date. Which was probably the most discouraging thing about this place. I don’t ever like to feel like I’m out of place when I go to eat somewhere. I’m paying the same money as everyone else and in this case because of the bad direction from the waitstaff I probably ordered just as much food, if not more as a table for two would. Which brings me to my next issue. The food portions were very large and are meant for sharing, which was mentioned prior, but when I placed my order I asked if it would be enough and even requested a little direction from my waitress to make sure I wouldn’t make this exact mistake. They replied with absolute certainty that it was enough and didn’t give any indication that it would be too much. When the food arrived I was a bit surprised as an 85kg, 185cm man, that they would’ve thought I’d be able to finish everything. Not a big deal, I asked them to box the rest. Next, knowing how full I was, one of the waitresses asked me if I wanted desert, so I said sure let me take a look at the menu. I ordered a single desert that came out very unexpectedly, again, as a very large array of different Thai sweets along with some coconut ice cream. One of the best dining experiences I have had in Thailand. The food, drinks and staff are amazing. Our waiter, Jane, was exceptionally kind, welcoming, and helpful. We ate in the secret agent room and the atmosphere was very interesting. The menu is excitingly different with a Thai fusion theme. Service is charming and well timed not to rush you through your lunch or dinner. Be aware that portions are generous, dishes can be very rich, while the preparation is very good. The stuffed baked avocado for example is a whole fruit stuffed with a crab filling. Over a number of visits the cooking has been very consistently good and definitely value for money. If I was to find fault it would be the alcohol choice of a decidedly limited selection of wines and spirits. The choice of beers is a mixture of local and imported with quixotic changes on each of my visits. Definitely a great place. Quieter at lunchtime and very busy in the evening this is a place to put on your list of must do restaurants. It has a quirky layout and decor that attracts a crowd who enjoy artistic expression.

There are 3 sections of the venue: the bar (Ground floor, outdoor seatings), the terrace (Upper floor, outdoor seatings, live music situated here) and the indoor dining area. Happy hour is from 6 to 8 pm at the bar. Essentially, it is the best time to observe the river. Currently, they are doing some renovations inside the hotel so you may expect some constructional sites and there are some areas you may not be able to access. The restaurant had fun secret rooms and the servers are all excellent. My favorite of all those by far was the excellent soft shell crab. The hot pot: was a meal to remember with so many Amazing things included. The manager was kind enough to teach us how to cook our meat. My preference was the delicious mala broth. Overall, a great experience worthy of your time and money. One small criticism for the managements consideration, there was a live band our last night and it was far too loud. My wife and I couldn't even hear each other across the table and it did hurt our experience a bit. All organic ingredients and wonderful tastes. The owner describes each dish and is really friendly and helpful. Makes for a lovely evening out and at 990 baht per person is great value.

Indeed exceptional food worth the special journey, however they also include a pickup & drop off service, organic & fresh AF, 7 course exquisite feast, plus a Bonus round 8th course of Wagyu beef was offered to my hearty son, but non-regretfully, we were both delightfully stuffed. The open kitchen concept is crisp, clean and somehow calm aromatic hustle and bustle. I love his family's involvement in the restaurant. Such a warm loving and caring attentive atmosphere. Boy's creations ooze with flavours to savor. We enjoyed his little visits to the table to enthusiastically explain the next creative dish; as much as the excitement to savour the next burst of fine flavours with lots of deliciousness melting off our tongues. Wonderful dining experience. I am a fussy foodie but this food was all truly exquisite. The magic ingredient here is Boy himself; lit with energy, passion, love and creative juices. Excellent fine dining experience. The restaurant has a classy charm to it, and it is set amidst the beautiful hotel grounds. The staff are friendly and attentive. The dish options are great, with some good northern Thai dishes (their Khao Soi Gai was particularly good, as was their tasting platter). The prices for the food was also very reasonable! Their drink menu is extensive, with lots of great wine and whiskey options. The drinks are a bit pricey, however. The beer options are limited. Overall, a really great dining experience set in a fun setting.

Great food in a fantastic building! We had beef shin croquettes, pork belly, and beef cheek, with a bottle of Thai Syrah. Everything was incredibly good. Having seen photos beforehand of amazing Thai food, I was a bit sad not to see any dishes like Khao Soi on the menu, but maybe there's a different menu for people who don't stay at the hotel.

We had a wonderful last dinner in Thailand today at The Service 1921. We asked to be seated indoors to avoid the mosquitoes but there was beautiful seating outdoors as well overlooking the Ping River. We ordered the mushroom ravioli in cream sauce, the rib eye steak and the pork chops. They served bread and butter along with our drinks. The food and service was amazing and since we had a birthday in the family, they brought in a slice of chocolate cake along with a music box that played "Happy Birthday". The women's bathrooms are downstairs and have toilet paper. The only reason I am rating this 4 stars is because the servers kept the doors open at times which allowed mosquitoes to enter.

It's a 1920s secret intelligence agency themed restaurant. The staff dress to match the theme also. The service is immaculate as you'd expect and food is excellent, we had the steak here. They have an extensive wine and liquor menu and lots of cocktails and a few mocktails. And of course, other than the usual grill options, they have some thai dishes but mostly this place is serving western inspired food. In terms of cost, for a full 3 course and drinks, expect to spend upwards of 2000thb each at least. More if you go for the steaks. But you won't regret it!! The grounds are the exclusive Anantara hotel which is gorgeous as well! I'd definitely book in advance and ask for a table outside for dinner if possible for a river view!

Superb food and reasonably priced for what you get. Our steak was cooked medium rare as requested, the bone marrow dish had the right amount of acidity to cut through the fat. It has been a fantastic, unbelievable and unforgettable experience ! The 6 courses menu was a masterpiece. Peter Gast is a true Artist, able to create surprising and delicious new flavors by mixing ingredients. His cuisine is exploring new territories to bring you to unexpected sensations of pleasure. His Tartare of beef, watermelon and Daikon with a bouillon of seaweed is a perfect example of the Dutch chef’s creativity and sensitivity. The Hamachi, ponzu and Kombucha with Kombucha of Hibiscus is the confirmation of his high mastery of seasonings . The harmony between the main ingredient and the seasoning is superb, perfectly balanced. Actually all the dishes contributed to making this dinner a divine dining experience in the so elegant The Service 1921 dining room. And the very professional serving staff was the icing on the cake!!

Our family adores this restaurant. We visited the last time we came to Chiang Mai and knew we had to return (I’ve included images from last time as well)! There was a wedding going on both times we visited, though this time the festivities were louder so we decided to move indoors. The stockyard gold black angus steak is incredible and without a doubt the best steak we’ve ever had. I strongly recommend it as it’s cooked to absolute perfection (we had medium rare) and the tenderness of the meat just makes it melt in your mouth. I love pairing my food with sauces and seasonings but despite being given a sauce of your choice, the flavours and juiciness of the steak just renders the sauce unnecessary because of how delectable the steak is on its own. We also had the free-range chicken, black cod, and portobello mushrooms (which were an excellent vegetarian option!). I suggest asking the staff for their recommendation on what sauce you ought to get to accompany the dish if you’re ordering a grill item, and as for sides i can’t recommend the triple-cooked chips enough. Perfect crunchy exterior with a soft centre and their versatility allows them to complement anything from steak to fish. I had the heirloom tomatoes for my side dish — bursting with flavour and would be a nice refreshing addition to dishes prone to have a drier texture (such as the chicken). They come in a variety of hues which makes them beautiful to look at too! As for the desserts, we ordered the south african melk tart, chocolate, and chiangmai strawberry gelato. definitely no complaints there and both plating and taste were excellent :) The history of the building is fascinating and I definitely recommend reading up on it. The decor indoors just immerses you in the atmosphere entirely! Remember to ask the staff to show you the “secret” room ;)
