The range of bread is impressive! Normally not so easy to find decent baguette sandwiches in Thailand. The water is free, which is nice, but the other drinks (mill and coffee) seem a little bit pricey. I actually wouldn't know because I don't drink tea or coffee, but there aren't any other drinks available. Actually there are smoothies that are fairly priced, but would be nice to see some bottled water and soda available for purchase. Sandwiches are on the smaller side but taste incredible, so all in all definitely worth a visit! Keep up the good work. P.s. Ive read the other reviews slandering the owner and I think they are a little bit biased and unfair. I've met the guy and I've watched him with the café being full for over an hour. He is a nice guy and doesn't deserve the neg.

The food was.... okay My water had black stuff and pieces of tissue floating in it. After hearing the owner tell another guest to “just pick it out and I’ll get you a new glass” I decided it didn’t hurt anything not to say anything. But it was still pretty gross. The owner’s response made me afraid to speak up about the issue.

I just had one of the best French toast here. It’s properly soaked with egg and milk. Taste soft with cake-like texture yet toasty. Boss and other staff are also very welcoming. Definitely recommend.

Small quaint restaurant with AMAZINGGGG food! The French toast is massive enough to share. The salad and bagel were delicious. And the service was wonderful. We’ll definitely be back

Western priced restaurant. But you get what you pay for: Delicious bread and bagels with tasty ingredients. The service was superb: The owner was really nice and made us feel welcome and comfortable

Best sandwich for us in Chiang Mai (and we have had so many bread throughout our 3 days journey). Had California Delight and Bagel with cream cheese and salmon which are perfect, satisfying our bread thirst. Flat White is great too. Would coutdown to comeback!

The Aussie who runs the Hideout with his wife is an absolute foodie perfectionist!!! They make their own challah bread and work it into some amazing French toast apparently. I tend to stick with the California Dream sandwich or the Greek salad with chicken as seen below. Just such a laid back breakfast/lunch spot that I had to show love on Google Reviews. ENJOY!!!

A cozy little cafe in an alleyway not far from the city's north gate. They have a simple menu that is very western. Great spot for breakfast. Their eggs and toast are very tasty, as is their espresso. Definitely a place to try for breakfast or for a midday fruit smoothie. Update: Came back in 2022. Still the same great spot. Love the customizable omelette and the all fruit smoothie.

We had a delicious breakfast and the next day we returned to order take away for our bus trip. Really friendly staff and delicious beverages prepared with no sugar by default, just how we like it ☺️☺️ picture: Bagel with scrambled eggs, avocado and tomato

Came here 5 years ago, and ended up coming back 2 more times. This visit we decided to come back again, and it did not disappoint! My wife had an omelette, and her oat milk mocha was excellent. Our kids shared a mini French toast with fruit, and it went down a treat as they're not big eaters. I had the Porto Bondi with bacon, and while it was less spicy than last time, it was still delicious!

This food is just sooo delicious, every ingredient is picked with love, you can feel it. My new secret place to have a home made breakfast. The owner is a such warm-hearted lady, always happy to come back here.

This place offers amazing, good quality, simple, and delicious food! And the owner is such a beautiful, kind, and caring human being. I came in for the first time, started ordering and told him I didn’t want lettuce in my bagel sandwich. He asked why. I said: I am dealing with some stomach issues since eating a salad a few days ago at another place. He said. He went on to recommend what I should consume for my upset stomach, then brought me some probiotic home-made yogurt (delicious), and said we haven’t had any food poisoning issues for 9 years, and continued with: “the lettuce balances the heavy sandwich out”, so I agreed to have it. When my sandwich arrived, I asked for Tobasco from one of the workers. Then he arrived with the Tobasco, and said: “you shouldn’t have any, but if your friend wants to have it, that’s ok”. I was so taken back by his level of care and attention that it almost brought me to tears. As I felt so loved and cared for. As a nurse who cares for others all the time, it’s my nature to do this with friend and family, and to be on the receiving end of that care from a complete stranger. I was so touched. Highly recommend this place. They even do to-go for travel days! Their sandwiches are a great healthy option for travel. So make sure to get yours before you leave. They can have it ready for you early.

We ordered El grande bacon sandwich and Mango smoothie. The sandwich is great and fresh with creamy avocado inside. The smoothie is made from real mango, not a lot of ice, naturally sweet and creamy. The price is also reasonable. The atmosphere is warm and cozy. Moreover, the staffs are nice and friendly providing good service. Wanna come back again

The Hideout instantly became one of my favorite restaurants in Chiang Mai. The Porto Bondi sandwich was incredible, it's so many great flavors together and like nothing I've had before. Many restaurants can suffer from a bloated menu, but the Hideout knows exacts want it wants to serve and it does it perfectly. Order the Porto Bondi, get a smoothie and enjoy. The photo doesn't do it justice, it just shows how much we enjoyed it.

I’ve had breakfast all over Chiang mai and there are many places to eat French toast. However, the French toast here is by far the best in Chiang Mai. The cafe is a bit small but usually there’s plenty of seating. The location is great next to the old city and 5 mins from Niman. Next time when you’re in the city stop by you won’t regret it.

  • 5/5 R C. 1 year ago on Google
The flat white was one of the best coffees I’ve ever have…..delightfully creamy with toffee undertones. French toast was as good as everyone says. The owner (Sammy) attention to detail is also like everyone says. Having owned a restaurant myself, it can be pretty stressful. Remember to enjoy the journey! 😃😃😃

Absolutely delicious! I'd call them the king & queen of bagels. They have every possible ingredient and the bagel is made to perfection. Very filling as well. Can not wait to try the rest!

  • 4/5 Glenn H. 1 year ago on Google
I ordered the French toast, I'm not sure why because I'm usually disappointed. The French toast here seemed very good but still wasn't amazing. The sandwiches looked very good so I wish I had ordered a sandwich. The Americano was average but the service good. I like that they have toast and vegemite I'll have to go back. I think this should be listed as mid range $$ rather than budget $ as its on a par with other western food venues.

  • 3/5 Martin E. 6 months ago on Google
At first glance, it's a nice place. Rather poor selection for breakfast. Thought I would try the Mediterranean Omelette and English Breakfast tea. My partner elected for the American Breakfast. I got a plain Omelette. The American Breakfast came with two large slabs of plain toast, two eggs and a slice of bacon. No spreading for the bread. Not sure what made the Omelette "Mediterranean" but it was poor value at 120 baht for what was just 2 eggs nothing else. Likewise the American breakfast was also poor value given other offerings near by. At least the tea was good. Won't be returning.

Vegetarian bagel sandwich was sooo good, simple but very refreshing. French toast was really delicious also although we got the small portion it was really big. It was so goof that I went there twice and even got veggie bagel take away for the flight :) Owner couple are so sweet

The coffee is good and served quickly. We ordered also 2 sandwiches for breakfast. After waiting for 35 minutes we asked how much longer will we wait for our food. We heard that the kitchen was preparing delivery orders and hasn't even started preparing our order! I said that we should have been informed about longer than expected waiting time while ordering. I heard that I should have said that I was in a hurry. I wasn't in a hurry, just really hungry and never would have thought that I would wait more than 40 minutes for 2 sandwiches! We cancelled our order so I cannot rate how the food tastes.

Food was just okay but wouldn’t be back again or neither recommend to friends because of the owner’s behavior.. extremely unwelcoming, a bit racist and had such a grumpy contrary response for EACH person (I randomly went there so it was my first time, how do I realized you have such rules? Coz it seems to be a chill and nice and friendly place but totally not). Yeah, just like all the other negative reviews he gets for his behavior. He killed the vibes, it’s just uncomfortable to sit here for food and coffee
