I chose this place for my birthday dinner and came here solely based on the reviews but it didn’t match the expectations. The food was ordinary and expensive. I came here to authentic Thai food but the experience was ruined. Overall, it’s an overpriced restaurant with good views of the river. If you care about the food, avoid visiting this place.

This is a notably great place on the river that features authentic Thai food. The service is excellent and they have fish, chicken, pork dishes, and salads that range from 120 to 450 baht. They also have great shakes and there is live music, usually one guy with a guitar most nights. I recommend trying it at least once.

I have lived in Chiang Mai for 20+ years and I am always looking for interesting and different places to eat. I decided to visit after reading their website and many reviews. I found the restaurant quite easily despite the fact that Google Street View still shows the previous restaurant view and name. Hopefully this will be resolved on the next Google update but meantime it would be useful to see some photos of the current frontage which I would have added had it not been bucketing down with rain when we left. I parked quite easily outside (it was early evening on a week day) and was greeted on entry by pleasant staff. As it was raining slightly we were offered a nice table close to the river but still under cover. The menus were given and listed an extensive selection of seafood and traditional Thai dishes at reasonable prices for a restaurant of this type. Most of the dishes were 200-300 baht with some signature dishes much more expensive. We drank beer which again was expensive but not for this type of restaurant. The food was excellent but not exceptional and the service was attentive and professional given the laudable stated intention of employing disadvantaged people. All in all I was very happy with the meal until it came time to pay. I requested the bill and was somewhat surprised to see an additional 7% tax added to it. Maybe it is stated somewhere on the menu that prices exclude tax but I didn't see it and I consider it sharp practice to show prices that are not the price you have to pay. There is no justification in doing this to my mind. It is not optional - everyone has to pay it. Surprise number 2 came when I tried to pay with a Visa card only to be told that they would add another 3% to the bill if I paid that way. Luckily I had enough cash to pay so as not to incur this additional charge. So factor in another 10% all in to the prices you see on the menu if you intend to pay by card. In summary, a nice restaurant in great location with an interesting menu and reasonable quality food. The prices are not outrageous but do factor in the 'hidden' charges.

This restaurant is a little riverside dining place. It is opened by a Singaporean couple who decided to leave the Singapore life and come open a restaurant in this place to bring business to the local community. The decor is pretty nicely done, with a candle lighting up your dinner table when it gets dark. There is a band playing live music. The riverside view is honestly nothing to scream at and is only mediocre at best. Came with another friend, and we ordered the baby back ribs, which had a chef hat recommendation on it. However the ribs was burnt on the outside and only nice in the middle. The best dish we both agreed on was the kale stirred fried with oyster sauce and garlic. Food size was very generous though. Overall a pretty decent place.

I came on Christmas night dinner, there was a set menu. I enjoyed the grill food but the soup and appetizers were under par. The service was also slow, they waited for all the tables in our area to cook the food. I would think that the general menu is good but I couldn't try the menu properly. Disappointed by the slow service this Christmas, kitchen was OK.

We live very near this place and we're hoping to find another go to restaurant. You should make reservations and ask for a table near the water. We arrived shortly after they opened and many of the tables near the water were already reserved. They were very kind so I kind of hate to say this but they are not very organized. Some of our food arrived and after waiting 5 minutes we asked for some plates and silverware. Another few minutes went by and we asked 2 more staff. I would say at least 10 plus minutes from the time our food arrived and after asking 3 different people we did finally get plates and silverware. That being said the food was pretty good and all of us did enjoy the food. The portions were average to smallish and the prices were a little bit up but not so much. The staff did come and apologize several times from several staff. So honest mistake. Hopefully they will adjust and solve the issue. I will try this place again and let you know if the service has improved. I wish them the very best luck.

What a wonderful place to enjoy amazing food in a beautiful riverside location. I was able to have a discussion with the owner and got a little more understanding of the story behind the restaurant. The restaurant itself makes great food for sure, but it's really about making great people. The restaurant employs many people and is helping those and many students to pay their way through life and university. It's changing lives and producing great food for its guests. They have some great looking seafood options, that I saw coming out from the kitchen, well all the food looked great.

This restaurant consistently serves great food. After 4 years, I came back and not only has the food remained fabulous, the new location has also afforded it a more spacious interior with riverside dining. All the dishes I had - from the fish to the pork ribs to the catfish salad - were all extremely tasty. There’s certainly pride in the way they’ve done the food. It was a wonderful dining experience and looking at how the tables were filling up, I think word has got out at how good the Thai food is. Finally, I’m happy that the mission to offer employment to at-risk youth still remains.

At 800 baht there was insufficient even for the modest appetites of two 70+ year olds. House wine at 190 baht for half a glass is poor value too. So, good in parts but would not rush back

This restaurant is just outside the old city and you do need some sort mode of transport to get here. The restaurant sits next to a river so beware of the mosquitos. Fortunately mosquito spray is provided by the staff. The food was really delicious and the portions was generous. The lobster was my partner had looked really good. Finished the whole bowl of curry, much to the surprise of the owner. The dessert was great and the owner even added a complimentary mango sticky rice ❤️ Speaking of the owner K-Lin is a delight and real passionate about the restaurant and its future. The staff was a bit nervous with serving, but then you hear their backstory about abused youth and can't help but feel glad that they got this opportunity. Highly recommend!

It​ was​ refreshing​ to​ see​ a​ restaurant​ abide​ by​ the​ law​ and​ not​ release​ sky​ lanterns. We​ still​ release​d​ a​ Krathong​ and​ had​ an​ excellent​ night.The​ fireworks were​ great​ too. We came here for dinner on Loy Krathong Day and had booked our table in advance. For around £40 per person we got a 4 course meal, a lantern, a krathong and a small souvenir to take away. They were really considerate of our dietary requirements and made veg spring rolls especially for me. The only issue we had was that we seemed to get two-three courses served at once and hence could not eat everything.

For seafood lovers, the jumbo prawns are huge and delicious, as well as the fried fish! The servers are pleasant and friendly, with fast service and intriguing stories- they are often from vulnerable groups, and the restaurant aims to provide them with income + employable skills. As mentioned earlier, the environment is tranquil and super chill, with soft pop playing in the background (and sometimes live music!). A wonderful place to visit after a day of exploring, and a must-go in Chiang Mai.

This is a more high end eatery in Chiang Mai. The staff are professional and the seafood were so fresh. The ginormous prawns are a must(even though on the pricier side). Well bbq and the accompanying dipping sauce was to die for. My father had a wonderful time demolishing the fish and prawn. Cudos to the chef. For the price that we paid at this restaurant, would cost us 2.5 times back home. All in all - if you love seafood and are in Chiangmai. This is a place worth visiting. It’s right on the ping river and even on the hottest day, there is a nice cool breeze to keep you cool. Though, you’ll have to contend with the flies (but that’s a given)

Environment is good but there were some irritating mossies due to the wet season. There are toothbrushes & dental floss in the washrooms for use after a meal which is great. The dishes that we had were slightly above average. But the jumbo prawns is overpriced.

Food is average, more on the sweet side for us. However the food they serve is fresh, and the service is great. The bosses and staff keep on checking with their customers regularly to make sure everything is going well. Environment is perfect, not too noisy since we visited it on a Monday night.

Had a lovely dinner at Paak Dang and was honestly shocked at how large the river prawns were. They were grilled to perfection and the sauce that came with it complemented the sweet flavour of the prawns so well. We also got the duck curry, prawn cakes and a cabbage stir fry which were delicious. I enjoyed the outdoor seating and appreciated the mozzie spray and a large fan was set up near our table as well. Service was attentive without being intrusive. Highly recommend.

What a lovely spot! Great riverside restaurant with views of the temple opposite the river bank. And the food was delicious! The betel leaf dish with prawns (Miang Kham Goong) and the duck curry were standout dishes. And the service was fab - really friendly staff. We're definitely going back!

K the owner takes time with every guest and ensures that they are well looked after. The restaurant is staffed by young people who haven't had the best start in life and ended up in penal custody. Paak Dang is giving these people a chance to earn an honest living by producing and serving amazing food. Well worth a visit.

this is a nice place; they are setup like a 5 star place; brother and sister from singapore run it; he rules the kitchen , she provides the charm and runs the customer floor; works well; kinda thai fusion menu; 2 stories; i would call ahead for appt; they usually open round 5; it is on the river, but after dark not much to enjoy there; so...smart money, early dinner, appt at 5 , riverside seat; both the owner brother and owner sister sat down with us at our table, even free food was forthcoming; when we returned, multiple times, they always gave us vip seats; the food is very good, the menu is very smart; usually they have bbq prawns on the way in , i think just to make you hungry; good service, the owners rehabilitate otherwise going-nowhere kids and train them to be productive staffers; it looks like it works to me; wine,beer; nice atmosphere, nice place; recommended

Had "Stir fried red curry fish ball". Mildly hot but quite tasty. My recommendation is "soft shelled crab in yellow curry sauce". Unexpectedly tasty. Crispy soft shelled crab with not so overpowering yellow curry sauce. Will definitely go back to try other dishes.

Been to Paak Dang 3 times and not disappointed. Food was yummy and staff are very well taught. On my third visit, my friends and I asked if the squid could be cooked differently than what was offered on the menu and the owner, Ms. K-Lin said it could be done.
