Greatness available here to get it follow two simple steps. One - show up early, two -bring your appetite. Relocate this restaurant to any of the largest metropolitan cities anywhere in the world and you would need to get on a waiting list months in advance and fill out a credit application to cover the bill. Just look past the chaos and the dirty dishes and the appearance of disorganization. Fill out the paper turn it in and go to your table and wait for greatness to arrive.

One of the favourite Khao Soi place among the local and tourist. This place serving Khao Soi and Thai noodle for you two choose. But the signature menu is Khao Soi, it came with varies of difference from Beef and Chicken the famous one, and also with the pork. Khao Soi is the signature menu here. Their soup is very creamy and thick in texture, with heavily flavors of the chili and spice that were put into the bowl, soup were skimmed for several hours to become thick and really aromatic. The taste is astonishingly delicious, little bit of spice and on top with coconut cream for sweet flavor. Eating it with egg noodle and beef or chicken, it mixing very well together. This is the place where you will find the strong flavor of Khao Soi soup in Chiang Mai. Many people still find it too spicy, especially for foreigner but for Thai if you did't add more chili paste it already perfect. The price here is real reasonable, quite cheap and come with good portion.

On multiple "what to eat in Chiang Mai" sites, I've come across this place. I was super curious as to why so many people liked it. It is very easy to miss if you aren't looking for it as there is a wall around it. The only indication of the place is a small red hanging sign that says the name. I arrived an hour after service started, at 11am. There wasn't a seat free. So many people eating and sweating. The spice isn't that crazy, but it will definitely make you start to sweat. Great depth of flavor in the soup and the chicken had been perfectly cooked. For 40B the small was huge and filling. The large size was like double the amount for 10B more. I am staying on the other side of Old City and had to try it. Definitely worth it!

Visit #2: The chicken Khao Soi was amazing. I'm glad I came back because the last visit took it from a 4 to a 5 star experience. The curry was delicious and spicy and the chicken just as tender and flavourful as last time. I highly recommend this Khao Soi. The curry is not sweet and the portions are big. Not to mention the ladies who work there are very sweet. Visit #1: Almost perfect. Had the chicken Khao Soi and loved it but felt the broth was lacking the x factor. The chicken was amazing though and very juicy, but only got a couple small pieces, no drumstick or anything like that. It was very busy but the wait was not too bad around noon and the prices are hard to beat. I almost forgot to mention the noodles are very delicious too, perfectly cooked and seemingly homemade. Would be 5 stars if the curry was a bit more delicious. I'll just have to go back and try again.

Super wonderful Khao Soi over here. The place is quite small. Always remember to write down your orders before getting a queue number. The owners are quite busy and they do not make sure that you miss out on giving them the orders. One thing good is you can write them in English, so do not worry about language barriers. They open at 10 and they were sold out at 1230. Be prepared to have an early lunch or late breakfast! Satisfaction. Highlight is the soup. The meat serving is really little

Food and beverages tasted great. Even though they were open until 2 PM, they were already sold out around 1.15 PM. So make sure you arrive early to try this place. The longan juice tasted fresh and sweet, perfect for hot weather.

Coming back here after two years .. Khao Soi Khun Yai still reigns supreme. Hands down the best Chicken Khao Soi in Chiang Mai. The curry soup is thick and full of flavors, totally yummy. Tips: if you can only order one dish, get their chicken khao soi, you won’t be disappointed. The beef and the spicy pork are still good but not special.

Another 5 stars from me. A good combination of Thai taste. Don't add too much lime just a bit is enough. This will not ruin the authentic taste. Add shallot and thai pickle as you like. Available parking space inside.Usually no queue, if you be there for brunch.

Really really nice Khao Soi. The serving hours is 10 in the morning to 2 in the afternoon. We got there right at the heart of lunchtime and to be expected, there was a huge line of people waiting. It was more just waiting for a table to open up more than anything. Anyways we got the Khao Soi, super super flavorful, noodles were nice and nice touch with the crunchies.

This place is just beside a shrine. Quite crowded during lunch hour with estimate waiting time 20 mins. You will need squeeze and share table. Mainly tourists made up the crowd. Is it worth the long queue and extra mile to hunt down this place? Price wise is super affordable. A bowl of curry noodle cost only 50B, clear soup noodle 40B. Quantity wise is too little. Taste wise is good. So yes, is worth the distance and queue. Advice ask for bigger serving or double your order.

This place is really a MUST visit place. Not just must try, but MUST VISIT! We will surely keep coming back to this place whenever we're in Chiang Mai. We ordered the beef, pork, and chicken khao soi. Beef is the best among the three. Just make sure to come early. Even if they say their closing time is at 2:00pm, they will close shop once they've sold out. As early as 12:40pm today, they're sold out...

We've heard amazing things about this "famous Khao Soi" place, so one late morning, we decided to get a Grab and see if we could get some to try for ourselves. And that decision did not disappoint. No wonder this place is famous!! We were lucky that they had not run out as I've heard they often do by lunchtime. We found a table and ordered our meal at the main counter area. We had the beef Khao Soi, and omg, it was just incredible....you must come here and try this amazing Northern Thailand dish. The beef just falls apart and melts in your mouth. The creamy curry is like nothing I've ever had before and such depth of flavor. Loved all the condiments you can add, lime, onions, extra chilli etc, this all just elevates the dish to another incredible level. The place is buzzing with people coming and going. The service is great, and meals come out super fast. Make the effort to come here early. I promise you it's so worth it!

Out of 10 places on my Khao Soi tour of Northern Thailand, I ranked Khao Soi Khun Yai number 2. The Khao Soi was delicious. The chicken was so tender it will almost fall off the drumstick. The ladies were nice and the atmosphere was pleasant. The only reason I didn’t rank it number 1 was because I found a Khao Soi place that was equally good that I didn’t have to take a taxi to get to. Khao Soi Khun Yai is not to be missed though, just like Mark Wiens, Paddy Doyle, and Gary Butler recommend.

Very good Khao Soi! I'm not a big fan of this dish, but i have to say they make it well here. The curry taste just nice with the right thickness but not too much. There noodle is good. The restaurant is clean and comfortable (lucky the weather was cool) service staff are polite, but be prepared to wait a while for the food.

Arguably the best bowl of Khao Soi in Chiang Mai. Definitely top three. Order a bowl with beef, order a bowl with chicken. You’ll finish both, it’s that good. Don’t forget to have a longan drink!! Open only for lunch. Closed on Sunday.

I arrived around 1:15pm on a Friday looking for some Khao soi. Super friendly ladies behind the counter informed me they were out of beef and chicken, but still had Khao soi pork, so that's what I ordered. It was outstanding! Rich, fragrant curry sauce, tender braised pork, and just the right mix of soft and fried noodles. Drinking water and all the typical condiments/fixings freely available in the small but comfortable seating area. I definitely want to come back and try the beef next!

best khao soi I had on this trip hands down. rich broth texture with a spicy kick, reminds me of a laksa. recommend the beef, perfectly slow cooked. went right after 10am opening, already busy and had to wait 10mins to get a table but it moves pretty fast. very cheap as well. don’t miss it :)

This is how Khao Soi is supposed to be. The colour and richness of the broth. (there is no sour or sugar sweetness) So rich that when u take a bite into the salted vegetable condiment, you taste.. No.. U feel the contrast. The labour and love that goes into the beef is absolutely pucka... Take your time to slurp the broth... Appreciate the work of the broth as it coats the noodles... And enjoy.. Obviously, I have tasted the others and they all pale...

I thought this place was just okay. I tried around 6 different khao soi places during my trip, this was probably the least memorable in terms of taste. I ordered the chicken & I did read the portions were small but they served sliced chicken & not the drumstick, the meat was a little overdone & didn't complement the broth. Came 10 mins before opening on a weekday, no queue and even at 10.45 it wasn't full As a quick note I'm a foodie instagrammer so I review dozens of restaurants a week

A very popular place recommended by everyone and their grandma making this place often very busy, very slow. However The people working there were very friendly although obviously understaffed at peak hour. I was not very impressed by the khao soi chicken. Instead of a chicken thigh, it was stripped pieces of meat. The curry only looked thick in appearance but taste wise it was rather watery. One good thing was the spicy level was satisfactory. The lotus tea was overly sweet like everywhere else in Thailand. I love spicy northern Thai dishes but khao soi here is not one of my favorites.

Definitely one of the most authentic and delicious Khao Soi's I had in my life! We had to wait 10 minutes before getting a seat, but it was worth it. It's also very affordable (I think 50 baht each).

3 and half star with positive experience. Portion is small and suitable for quick meal. Have small parking lot for 6 cars. To order simply write what you need (in english) follow exactly what show on menu and you will have smooth order experience. Recommend to try the longan juice as it is not artificial sweet.

Best Khao Soi I've had in Chiang Mai, for 40 baht. Absolutely incredible! I had Chicken Khao Soi - worth noting that the chicken is off the bone, but still beautifully tender and delicious. Lovely people, cooking as authentically as you can get - awesome!

I literally came here 3 times a week while in Chiang Mai. This place is open till 2 and sometimes they will sell out of Khao Soi by noon! This place is my #1 recommendation to anyone visiting Chiang Mai!

  • 4/5 nik 1 year ago on Google
Very busy when we arrived at noon, needed to wait a bit. Mix of locals and tourists. The soup is delicious, not very sweet and more spicy than others. What I did not enjoy so much were the very short, soft noodles, the tiny pieces of beef and the small amount of soup. After mixing in the mustard greens and onion, it looks more like a stew than a soup. It is a good Khao Soi, but there are better ones in CM.

I went here because I heard it’s famous. We went on a day before closing so it’s not crowded. I was really excited to eat here but disappointed with their portions. Their portions are on the smaller side and the meat is not much. I tried pork, chiken and beef khao soi. I recommend their beef because it’s tender. Luckily I didn’t have to wait an hour so I didn’t feel bad but it’s not worth waiting. Still if you are around atleast give it a try if there is no wait time.

Had researched the best place for Khao Soi in Chiang Mai and this place kept being mentioned. It certainly lives up to expectation - this is the best Khao Soi we have had in Thailand. We got there around 1pm and the Chicken and Beef had sold out so we had the Pork. Portion size is quite small compared to some places, but was just right for us as a lunch. Highly recommend! You’ve got to try it if you are in Chiang Mai.

We had read in a blog that this spot had the best Khao Soi in Chiang Mai. We went ahead and tried it and it was good, but not nearly the best. Make sure to arrive early. We got there at 1pm on a Saturday and they had already ran out of beef. We then ordered 2 khao soi with chicken but they only had one. So we ended up ordering one with chicken for 50bth and one with pork for 70bth. Keep in mind, their hours are from 10am-2pm everyday except on Sundays when they are closed. Overall an overly hyped restaurant. We tried delicious Khao Soi from more low key spots in Chiang Mai, made with good ingredients and for good prices as well.

  • 5/5 June 1 year ago on Google
It was our very first time trying Khao Soi so I really can’t compare it to to her places. I just have to say that it was very delish! The noodles, the broth and the meat, all of it were very flavourful. My parents said the portions was a bit small for them but it was just the right amount for me.

  • 5/5 Zam K. 1 year ago on Google
If you are in chang Mai go and que up at this place you will not regret it . A lot of places are hyped in Thailand but this place is definitely worth the long wait and the hype . Food was exceptional service was on point considering this place is packed with people portion size was good too . The price is pretty cheap considering this is one of the best dishes I’ve eaten in a while . All in all 7 stars for this place will definitely go stand in line again . 150 baht for 2 with drinks I consider that a steal for that food .

  • 5/5 Marta T. 1 year ago on Google
Yes, it is as good as they say. Caution: portions are delicious but quite small. I saw some hungry guys ordering a 2nd portion. We arrived here at 12:30 and waited 20 minutes for the food. At 13:20 the owner put a “we’re sold out” sign outside. Don’t wait too long before coming here!

Delicious , this khao soi is another type and more to curry india taste. Portion quite small, but taste good. The clear soup noodle also very nice. Always full, so coming before lunch time to avoid long Q.

  • 5/5 Zhihan Y. 9 months ago on Google
This place definitely lives up to the hype. The khao soi was rich creamy and rounded spice flavours. You know they're doing it right when you're still mind blown slurping up the soup at the end of meal. Had all 3 beef, pork and chicken options. Soup tasted similar but pork was the fav meat option. Super tender beef a close second. Got here on a Mon 1030am and it was only half full. Super chill and friendly vibes.

This is really Thailand. The mothers who prepare your Khao Soi here are delightful and friendly. The food is so cheap, and amazing, I had to tip to thank them for the amazing memories. When in Chiangmai, give this spot a try. Forget the luxury restaurants and try something very local and well loved.

This place came highly recommended on a few travel food blogs so we headed there for lunch to try the khao soi. We had the pork one and wow this dish blew our mind. For years I've been making a point of eating there at least once every time I'm in Chiang Mai. Khao Soi Khun Yai is reliably excellent. While it's impossible to definitely say which restaurant has the best khao soi because of personal preferences, this one is definitely a contender. It also has a very middle-of-the-road approach, not too spicy or too creamy, so that it appeals to every palate.

(Translated by Google) Khao Soi beef tastes good, not as sweet as it should be. Clear noodle soup reminiscent of the atmosphere of childhood. (Original) ข้าวซอยเนื้อรสชาติดีไม่ติดหวานอย่างที่ควรจะเป็น. ก๋วยเตี๋ยวน้ำใสทำให้นึกถึงบรรยากาศสมัยเด็กๆ

They've still got the touch after all these years! The name roughly translates to "your grandma's Khao Soi" and I've been coming here religiously since 2015 every chance I get. If you've had Khao Soi somewhere else and thought it was just so-so, come here and try the best on the planet! Deep, rich flavors with the perfect balance of sweet, spicy, sour and savory. Go between 10-11am before the crowds of locals start coming in, order Khao Soi Gai (chicken), and try the longan or lotus juice. It's a quintessential Chiang Mai experience that should absolutely NOT be missed.

(Translated by Google) Although inexpensive, it is relatively hygienic for an outdoor restaurant. It is an outdoor space without air conditioning, but there are many fans installed. (Original) 저렴하지만, 야외 식당 치곤 비교적 위생적입니다. 에어컨 없는 야외 공간이지만, 선풍기들이 많이 설치되어 있습니다.

(Translated by Google) Inspired? Then I ordered Khao Soi Nua. Nua (beef) is fluffy and delicious. The soup is not so rich, but it has a complex taste with the soup stock. If you are busy, you will not come to ask for an order, so feel free to go to the counter and point to the menu to place an order. Ice and water next to the counter are free, but since it is self-service, please draw it yourself.
