This place is amazing and one of my favorite places in Chiang Mai. Healthy food, super inexpensive, and they even give a free meal if you can't afford the few baht for a plate. PRO TIP: This place closes some times so the staff can do a Buddhist retreat. Find out before hand by checking them on Facebook. Search for "0baht", or check the instructions in one of my pictures. Also you get the best selection if you arrive before noon, as they start to wind down after that time to make sure they don't have too many left overs. A benefit of as it gets later they usually have free items. They have fresh fruit and veg smoothie and healthy teas. Rice and several simple Thai dishes such as curries or other healthy vegetable sets. Often they have soups and a sweet coconut based dessert. They usually have cooked beans which is a huge plus, as you don't want to only eat soy for protein! There's so many other things to say about here which many have covered. It's not the most luxurious, but the community, mission and food are superb. Check it out at least once!

Funky but fun place to eat and shop. Buffett food, Second hand store, grocery store with all kinds of herbal products, soaps, lotions, teas, etc at very low prices. Most products have only Thai writing so you have to guess what it is. Excellent food and drinks. I had the sontol drink and it was delicous and only five baht. A bowl of rice and one topping is free?! If you are a western pay a little more to help out the needy people. I tried a little of every thing and it cost me 60 baht. The hot tea was good. They also serve soup in cups with a lid. You can also park and enter on the Big C gas station side. Closes at 2 pm and opens at 6 am. Get there early for the best food. The selection is less after lunch and the food was cold. Excellent fruit spiced cake. It is fun to do your own dishes! Closed until 14 Jan 2019

It was a great experience. I liked that they only use organic vegetables. You can not only eat, but also buy fresh produce, used goods and natural ingredient made detergents and Thai supplements. Everything priced very inexpensively. Surprised that one side dish with a bowl of rice was charged FREE. How do they keep the price low? You've gotta do your own dishes there. ;)

great store with lots of interesting products. But! it is impossible to understand how this place works, because if you order during the indicated opening hours, this place is closed. we drove specially to the beginning of the working day to this place, waited for half an hour and it never opened. it's a pity.

I always enjoy coming to the restaurant and the store. Keep in mind you have to take the food away. COVID had changed the flow of many operations in Thailand. I remembered when you could get soups and other food prepared on the spot. And a bigger selection of dishes. Around 9:45 AM the food trays were just about empty. I am not sure how often they replenish the trays. However, I filled up on the juices and teas. Most have English on the labels. There were a few that were labeled in Thai only. I used Google Translate to sort it out. I highly recommend going to the goods shop for teas, snacks, grains, oil, body care products, etc. all priced amazingly low. Part of their mission is recycling and reuse. You will find a huge selection of second hand clothing and other donated items at super low prices. Lastly, they have fresh organic produce available too. Go explore and enjoy.

I love this place and get my rice from here. Harks back to a bygone era with its very reasonable food, bric-a-brac store and health food shop. Even now having to buy food from the front through a window it still manages to maintain some of its charm.

It’s kind of out of town, but fine if you have a motorbike. Almost didn’t see it, pulled into petrol garage because needed gas anyway and realised it was next door. A little confused at first because wasn’t clear what was available and what was for later, or really what anything even was.. but swiftly a very helpful and friendly older lady who spoke a little English guide us around the food options telling us what we can have with what, and for how much baht. We decided to go for the vegetable noodle soup at 20 baht. It was ok.. The lady giggled at us a lot yet made me strangely feel very welcome. I really agree with the founding principles and goals of this organisation, so for that and for my good experience, I totally recommend you to visit, support and help keep this going.

On Mahidol, southwest of the Old City and toward the airport, the Vegetarian Center of Chiang Mai doesn't have my favorite food, but it's really cheap, very friendly, and a fascinating place that believes in generosity and sustainability. I enjoy their juices and also bought a lot in their shop (red curry, kitchenware, soaps). They also have a used shop.
