Food Delicious and fragrant Khao Soi. Came too late in the day so word of warning if you want to be able to choose the meat in your noodles come early cause I only had mince pork to choose from. Loved the bouncy noodles in the soup with the crunchy ones on top to create textural difference. The portions are a bit on the small side, I read some other reviews saying you can get a bigger bowl. Also ordered a milk tea which was refreshing. Service The lovely couple running the restaurant were very friendly. Ambience The restaurant is located on a small street and is run at the front of their house. The seating is outdoors under some shade. Don’t expect anything fancy but it definitely had character. Price 70 baht for two noodles and two milk teas which is amazing!

Khao Soi worth finding. Located on a narrow Soi in the East side of Chiang Mai's Old City this modest restaurant turns out Khao Soi to write home about. Flavorful broth with, for me, a good balance of broth to coconut milk. Tender chicken, both noodles cooked to perfection. Not overly spicy. Prik comes on the side for more heat. Onions, limes and pickled cabbage accompaniments all fresh.

Another amazing Khao Soi experience! Very quiet, small restaurant serving mostly locals, but I felt welcomed and right at home. The chicken was perfect, cooked so that it comes off the bone easily but not so much that it falls apart. Flavor was excellent, and they have really, really good roasted chilli to add spice. And yes, the price was a ridiculously cheap 30 baht. If you're a tourist discovering gems like this, consider overpaying. It's nothing to us, but a nice way to say "thank you" to folks like this who welcome foreigners with a smile and treat you like family.

This lovely little mom and pop restaurant is just around the corner from my hotel, BED Phrasingh (highly recommend for young, child free travelers not on a tight budget) and I wanted one more sweet taste of khao soi before I left Chiang Mai. The chicken drumstick in the bowl was so tender I could eat it with chopsticks! The noodles on top were perfectly fried, the noodles in the soup were tender but still had a bit of chew, and the broth was perfectly spiced, if not seasoned. I added some sugar to mine but I like my khao soi a bit sweeter. Luckily there were seasonings on the table so I could adjust it myself. The people who ran the place were really nice and made me a Thai iced milk tea to go with my soup. They also had a very nice cat, which earns them bonus points in my books.

Hidden in a back alley of Old Chiang Mai you’ll find this gem of a place. There’s only one dish on the menu and that’s Northern Thailand’s famous Khao Soi. This delicious Noddle Soup gets served up with your choice of Chicken, Beef or Pork. On the side you’ll get slices of Lime , Pickled Celery and chopped Red Onions. Don’t miss an opportunity to experience delicious for a little more than $1 USD.

You know that when you're seated in someone's garage that it will be good. Good is an understatement! Amazing Khao soi and for such a cheap price. The Thai iced tea was also delicious, of course. I wish I could come back...

Nice little place to grab something quick to eat. Khao soi was a bit watery for me but it did the trick. Bowls are 30bhat each. Loved the pieces of chicken on the bone still and not just diced pieces of chicken breast like a lot of other places do... I noticed on the pictures they seemed to serve soups other than Khao soi. When we walked up and asked for a menu we were handed one that only had 3 option of Khao soi (chicken, beef or pork). I'm sure if you ask, you can try some of the other options they have.

Came here for some quick Khao Soi before I had to leave Chiang Mai, and I'm so glad I did! Prices are great, and the owners are just so sweet. It's also actually semi inside so you get to eat IN THE SHADE! They don't really speak English much, and there is NO English menu. So make sure you know what you want. I just got Khao Soi. There are some pics on the wall but all the text is in Thai, obviously. Drinks I can remember they have are green tea, lemon tea, Thai tea, and I think a sweet milk drink. The Thai tea was amazing. The Khao Soi had extremely tender chicken and it actually wasn't that spicy. Maybe they threw in some milk for me because I'm foreign. I'm sure they can make it extra hot if you ask. :) Service was quick, and even though we had a language barrier, the owners were so kind, unlike a lot of restaurant workers I meet who get really pissed if you don't speak Thai! Please go here if you have the chance. The prices are awesome. Thai tea was only 15 baht!!!

Very small Mom and pop shop. The Khao Soi with chicken was delicious and only 30 baht. They don’t speak English but if you say khao Soi they will know what you want and ask if you want chicken. Soup was great and not spicy but I added some chili’s to spice it up.

Definitely include this on your tour of the best khao soi places. Down a very small side street, lovely family have turned their garage/carport into a khao soi restaurant. Delicious, generous with the chicken; not too spicy but they provide extra spice if you want. Postman was eating there when I arrived - those guys know where to eat good and cheap.

Delicious spot for some very authentic Khao Soi, and the first stop on our quest for the best in Chaing Mai. Chicken was delicious and soft, broth was very flavorful. We added some chili paste and it was exploding with flavors. Didn’t even try the four other additions on the table. It was a little spicy, and not sure if that’s from the chili paste or it was already a little spicy. Dump your veggies in and go! Crispy noodles very crunchy and regular noodles too. Nice breeze coming through in a residential neighborhood.

(Translated by Google) Kao Soi is a delicious house ... In fact, I only eat kao soi in this house, so there is no comparison, but it was perfect for my taste. As mentioned in other reviews, the food is small. Noodles are very crunchy, but for those who don't like kalguksu or ramen, it's a clumsy one. When I first came out, it's a bit humming but when I spray it with lime, it really tastes better. Please enjoy by all means. The lime and onion (?) That I gave you tasted good enough and I didn't add any other spices. The chicken is cooked well so that the flesh is applied well and the pork shells and noodles are fried together. The shop is a typical local restaurant .. If you are weak, you may not like it. It's expected to be very hot inside the store, except in December and January. I don't have air conditioning. Even in December, when it's not hot, I went to midday and sweated a bit. The owner and staff are very friendly, but count your change.

Indeed a hidden gem. First time trying khao soi, the chicken one is so tender, and I definitely love the pork one with meatballs. The soup is rich and delicious, and the combination of different ingredients in this small bowl creates a beautiful complex of textures and flavors. The vibe of this place is super local, and the owners are very kind and nice. Would love to come back!

I sought out as many khao sois as I could in the week I was in Chiang Mai. This was the best of the bunch. My only regret was that it was on my last day and I couldn't go back again. The broth was superb, rich and full of flavour. Everything else was spot on. It was 40B for a small bowl (pictured) or 50B for a big bowl (which I should have gotten).

Khao Soi one of the best in the city, broth is rich and flavoursome. The chicken is fall-apart tender. Also tried the beef stew noodle but wasn't as impressed. All washed down with Thai ice tea. Probably my second favourite Khao Soi in Chiang Mai.

Hot as hell in the mid-afternoon, but man was it worth it! THB 50 for probably the best Khao Soi in town! Only 3 items on the menu! It's a converted garage, sweating under the hot roof and it was amazing! I am surprised Bourdain didn't make it here, it's that good.

We went here our first day right after checking in at the hotel. I believe this was the one of the best food decisions I've ever made. It was simply amazing! The place is primarily making one dish (the traditional Khao Soi) with three options: chicken, beef or pork with pork being the best option in my opinion. It is a family run place with a lovely local atmosphere and the prices are beyond belief. We paid 35 baht for the pork option per person.

Small family run store. Only sells one type of dish Khao Soi. There’s a menu for choice of chicken pork and beef but when the bowl of noodles came we were served only Chicken. But it was simple yet delicious. The meat was tender and soft. Note that in the afternoon can be quite hot.

One of the top 3 Khao sois I’ve had in my short time in the city (during which eating as much Khao soi as possible has been my mission). Broth is a little thinner than some but very flavorful. Noodle texture was good. The pork comes with pork meatballs and roasted pork. Chicken is with a chicken leg. Come early if you want the beef. It seems to sell out fast.

Delicious local Khao soi. No frills eatery where you pick between pork, beef, or chicken Khao soi and a couple of drink options. We got one chicken and one beef. The chicken was fall off the bone tender and you get an entire chicken leg! The broth was great and portion size was perfect. We went around 230pm and they ran out of beef but we got to substitute with beef meatballs instead which was a good alternative. Really enjoyed both bowls and the price was truly unbeatable.

Been here a few times in the past years, becos they seem to close quite often. I would rate their Khao Soi above all those hyped Michelin Guide in town. Very reasonable price. Real hidden gem (whoever complain about no aircon, FFS! 40 baht a dish)

  • 5/5 Chris S. 1 year ago on Google
Khao Soi Arak is located in a quiet lane and if not for the sign out the front it’d be easy to miss. It has 3 things on the menu and all are khao soi. There’s a few drinks you can get. I got chicken and an Thai iced tea. 60 baht of goodness. The Khao soi is delicious and there’s a little assortment of condiments to customise to your taste. Recommended.

  • 5/5 Mary T. 1 year ago on Google
Sweet little family style street place, only 40THB per bowl (small size). Run by an older couple with limited English but they’ll give you a menu so you can just point at what you want. We got the chicken and it was literally falling off the bone! The soup was always delicious and not spicy at all (by my standards). Go and try some local cuisine made from the heart!

  • 3/5 Jason B. 5 months ago on Google
I was a bit disappointed. The owners are very sweet and friendly, but the khao soi was lackluster. The broth was luke warm and lacked that rich, deep flavor that you expect from a great bowl of khao soi. Very bland. Noodles were too soft and mushy, like this was noodle soup that had been in the fridge for multiple days and reheated. The Thai iced tea I ordered was too milky with a very weak tea flavor. The price (50 baht) is on point, so there is that. But, honestly, I wouldn't come back with so many other options available in Chiang Mai.

I really liked the food, however, being my very first Khao Soi I cannot compare. Tiny family-run restaurant with very friendly staff. Will come back again.
