My
wife
and
I
just
stumbled
on
Redbox
during
our
recent
visit
to
Chiangmai.
Because
of
the
COVID
situation
(sadly),
we
were
able
to
just
walk
in
and
get
a
table.
The
restaurant
is
on
a
quiet
soi,
and
occupies
the
lower
level
of
a
lovely
Thai
style
house.
The
staff
were
all
very
warm
and
friendly.
We
started
with
spinach
soup
and
lobster
bisque,
both
of
which
were
velvety
and
delicious.
Next
we
had
the
chicken
satay
and
carpaccio
beef.
The
chicken
was
tender
and
juicy,
with
a
nice
smoky
flavor.
My
wife
enjoyed
the
beef
(which
she
ordered
“spicy”
because
she’s
Thai!).
Also
tried
the
buttered
prawns,
which
were
quite
good.
For
main
course,
we
had
the
panang
lamb
chops.
We
liked
that
the
panang
spices
were
not
too
strong,
which
allowed
the
flavor
of
the
lamb
to
come
through.
The
Siam
Ruby
dessert
was
a
particular
treat,
unlike
any
dessert
I
have
ever
had.
The
smoke
infusion
of
the
coconut
ice
cream,
plus
the
crispy
“soil”
and
little
Thai
cookies
(I
forget
what
they
are
called),
together
with
the
Malaysian
palm
sugar
syrup
for
drizzling
over
everything,
all
come
together
to
make
a
flavor
and
texture
explosion
in
the
mouth.
Superb!
We
had
a
nice
chat
with
Chef
Dan
afterward,
and
he
recommended
an
Italian
restaurant
for
us,
because
my
wife
had
mentioned
that
I
like
Italian
food.
Looking
forward
to
our
next
opportunity
to
visit
Redbox
again
and
bring
family
with
us!
