There are better places for chicken. The one they serve here is consistently overcooked and dry. Certainly has to do with the bulk cooking style they use (see photo). Every friend that has gone here has said the same thing - overcooked. Salad was pretty good though. Overall, not worth a trip. For a good chicken place that keeps it juicy, I recommend to try Neng Earthen Jar, Somtum Sapa (CMU), or SP chicken (old town)

Holy moly! This shop deserves more recognition. The chicken and som tam (papaya salad) are very good! Came here twice to try the wings (sold separately ๐Ÿ˜ž yeah I know ...) but still no luck! ๐Ÿ˜ข

Sought after charcoal chicken, with traditional thai offerings of Som Tam etc. Friendly local people, amazing taste, so tender. Cooked on bamboo sticks over charcoal then cut 75 different ways. So inexpensive too. Going back for more.

Delicious chicken. Moist and flavourful. We came closer to the end of lunch (2pm) and they were out of most items other than chicken and papaya salad. Prepare to sweat! The heat and smoke from the BBQ grill makes it feel especially hot inside. There is a large bin of ice for you to self serve from and add to your beverages. Hand washing station and toilets available.

Excellent grilled chicken. A decent sized portion and very juicy. I also had the Som Tam papaya salad which was tasty but I think they tamed it thinking i wouldnโ€™t handle spice! ;-) Perfect roast chicken to celebrate Christmas!

Off the charts BBQ chicken in a low key setting on the edge of the Nimman district. I was pleased to see that this Nimman area chicken shack is still in business post Covid. Prices have gone up and the number of farang have definitely increased at lunchtime but this BBQ chicken restaurant still serves the same great food. The setting is very casual . BBQ smoke fills the air inside for hundreds of yards outside Order from one of the ladies up front . The menu is located on several walls. Water is available either bottled for a price or free from the canister on the table in the back. I ordered the chicken , just the chicken, although I've had the Som Tom in the past as well. Gizzards are available as well. The chicken is served on a plate , already cut up , with a sweet , lightly spicy seasoned sauce for dipping on the side. This chicken has to be one of the juiciest , best season BBQ chicken I've ever had. Moist with a slightly crispy skin , this chicken will not disappoint. I had leftovers so I brought the remaining chicken up to the front and they bagged it and threw in an extra sauce for a later midnight snack. Take out available. Price was 170 B.๐Ÿ˜ Service was good but basic Handicap doable and recommended but best to come at off hours because lunchtime gets crowded. Restrooms--nada. @!@@@@Ambiance --- Smokey Thai....@@@@don't wear fancy prom dress or tuxedo ๐Ÿค”.. lol)@!!@@@@@@@@ Chili peppers available for a highly kicked up accompaniment to your chicken meal. Soft drinks available. Final take---Go early because when they sell out, they close! but-------Highly recommended

Not a fancy place but grilled/BBQ chicken is delicious. I also had some other dishes, and they were very yummy as well. There is also an allocated parking area for cars in case you are going there by car. Staff are friendly and efficient. The price is very reasonable.

Best bbq chicken in Chaing mai. Many tourists go to sp chicken thinking that it is good but it is nothing compared to this restaurant. I forgot but I believe they told me it has been there for over 50 years. You must try soon

Give it 4.5 stars, the chicken was juicy and smoked from the grill. Wished I was able to try other dishes as they also looked delicious. Would recommend if you happen to be around the area but might not worth coming all the way if you are far away

Best chicken in Chiang Mai imo. Cooked over charcoal, not dry. Place is outside and not fancy, at all. But excellent food. NOTE, place is open. They close now and then, part of the charm.

Best Chicken in Chiang Mai Had the whole bbq chicken, was such a good size with plenty of meat. Very flavoursome. They need a new extractor fan though place was full of smoke.

My favorite grilled chicken place. Have Somtam and sticky rice, too!

I've eaten here twice this week. They have the best grilled chicken and som tam in town, IMO. The corn salad is worth a try as well.

A simple but deliciously executed concept: chicken cooked on the bbq (not involving bbq sauce), sticky rice and delicious mildly spicy sauce. Half a chicken, sticky rice and sauce cost me 90 baht. They pretty much take the chicken with the bones still in it and just cut it into pieces using big knife so there's lots of bones within that you have to navigate, probably will need to use your hands. It's traditional to eat the sticky rice with your hands too so make sure you have clean hands! Restaurant is very simple in the standard thai style with free water available.

Don't know what happened to the old reviews that were in the thousands, but I'm helping this place get more 5 stars!!! We've tried different chicken places in Chiang Mai, and this is the best by far! The delicious taste of the skin and the chicken meat, the way its tender and cooked to perfection. They give you a spicy dip and it's oh-so-good with sticky rice. Come early to avoid lunch rush or else you'll be waiting for vacant seats. 160baht for a whole chicken and 10baht for sticky rice. We went to a Khao Soi place nearby afterwards and I was full until dinner time!!! Ugh, this place is a must try if you're coming to Chiang Mai!๐Ÿ‘…๐Ÿ‘…๐Ÿ‘…๐Ÿ˜‹
