The market is open only on Sundays and it is the largest one in Chiang Mai. It starts to get busy at 6 pm and stretches along the road from The Phae Gate to Wat Phra Singh. There are many stalls selling food and drinks, as well as clothes and souvenirs. You can find anything you want at this market. All you need is a hungry stomach to enjoy the rich variety of street food

Known to locals for buying food and other stuff. The market is located at the Old Gate of Chiang Mai. Fresh produce and food are available for market goers. There are restaurants and coffee shops around the market. It could be crowded in the morning and parking is challenging.

It's a real working Thai market - welcoming to tourists, but it's for the locals. Winding paths, fresh produce, fresh fish. No live animals, but definitely some dead ones! Great place to practice your market Thai. Solid meals near the front (canal side). At night the market is closed, but outside there are hot foods & treats.

Many stalls aren't open until after 6pm. there are limited seatings available for each stall and the food is nice! and pretty affordable. personally like the sushi offered at one of the stalls, one piece for 10baht, and you can take as many as you like.

Lots of locals. Fresh veggies and cheap but delicious drinks. Small ancillary shops all around. I enjoy shopping where the locals shop.

I only went to the late night market on the streets. But it was perfect because I arrived on a late bus, checked into hotel, then got there about 11:30pm but there were still plenty of food and drink options to choose from and fill you up.

My favorite evening food market in Chiang Mai. Every night of the week, dozens of food carts are here dishing up a dizzying variety of delicious food. Want seafood curries, northern Thai sausages, and stir fried noodles? It's all here. In the mood for fresh fruit shakes, fried Thai doughnuts, or grilled pork? There's a cart for those too! KFG and Pa Fruit Shake are particularly worth a visit, but you really can't go wrong as almost all the carts are an institution and have been here serving amazing food to locals and tourists for years! A lot of carts have tables and plastic chairs behind them to sit and enjoy the deliciousness.

Stayed just around the corner and was here 3 nights in a row. Food was absolutely phenomenal... Highly recommend if you are on the south side of the old town to eat here. Oh and have a look out for this gentleman here .... my goodness his pork and rice was probably one of the tastiest dishes I have eaten in my life... I will be coming back to Chiang Mai and going directly here for dinner on my next visit.

Visiting the Chiang Mai night market is an experience that borders on the surreal - it's an absolute must-see for its sheer vibrancy and energy. The market is a bustling kaleidoscope of sights, sounds, and smells that will envelop you from the moment you step in. One of the undeniable highlights of this market is the food. The culinary offerings here are nothing short of spectacular, making it a paradise for food lovers. Each stall seems to outdo the next, serving up dishes that are not only mouthwateringly delicious but also prepared with a commendable level of cleanliness. Whether you're in the mood for local Thai delicacies or something more adventurous, you're in for a treat. It's advisable to arrive with an appetite because you'll want to try everything in sight! However, the market's allure takes a bit of a dip when it comes to the shopping aspect. The majority of the merchandise on offer tends to fall into the category of cheap knockoffs or trivial souvenirs. While these items might serve as quirky reminders of your trip or as budget-friendly gifts for folks back home, they're not what you'd call quality purchases. In essence, the Chiang Mai night market is a place to immerse yourself in the local food scene and soak up the lively atmosphere. It's an experience worth having for the culinary adventure alone. However, if you're looking to do some serious shopping, you might want to temper your expectations. Overall, I'd rate the experience 3 out of 5 stars - go for the food and the experience, but perhaps skip the shopping.

A basic market located in the heart of Chiang Mai tourist area that serves the essential needs for groceries and local, simple food. The market ain’t too clean though but the retailers are very nice, friendly locals who works hard making a living, so full support for them. Get your essential groceries and snacks here. Very affordable, simple and basic.

This is a small noodle stall operated by a tall, thin old man. Every time I went to Chiang Mai, he served me great. I just ordered simple beef noodles, and I could not believe that it was very tasteful. There were many stalls, his stall was just opposite to 711, and it was easy to find. Please also try his black bean product. It was tasteful, too.

Nice place to try a lot of food but the seating is very limited and the stalls reserve certain tables only for their customers. There was a lot of different types of stalls and the vendors were mostly very friendly. There's also a Lotus's Fresh, a 7-Eleven, a Pharmacy and more. Right around the corner are some live music places and other options if you get tired of this. Cross the street and take Picture by the famous gate.

Whenever I travelled to Chiang Mai, the Chiang Mai Gate is one of my "must go to" spot. I would come around 6am and watch the market in action, have my coffee and watch devotee offering to monks. In the evening, I would come here and enjoy my favorite Asian dessert.

Very nice and clean local market. I did see some tours from the cooking classes. The market has food inside, the raw foods at the back and then the rest of the market are different merchandise, ranging from dried goods, clothing, electronics and jewelry. The parking in front is a little challenging, try to walk there if you are not planning to buy a lot.

Awesome place with a chilled atmosphere. Most of the vendors spoke some English so issues here if you don't speak Thai. Lots of norther Thai food options at street food pricing.

Quite like the variety of food available in the night market! But do take note not to order from a few stalls and eat at the tables belonging to specific stalls. I didn’t know that and was waiting for Khao Soi when I went over to order Pad Thai and when I came back, the stall owner was kind of scolding me saying that the food from the other stalls can’t be brought over 😅 so please be mindful that if you want to try a few dishes from different stalls, you have to order from one stall, finish the food before going to another stall, getting a seat there and finishing the food there and it continues 😅😅 Khao Soi was tasty though, curry broth was really good. Pad Thai portion was also great!

The perfect spot to feel like a local shopping for ingredients. The prices are tailored for locals and are very cheap. You can mainly get food ingredients or ready to eat dishes, but also offerings and flowers. Definitely a spot to check out in Chiang Mai. It opens at 5AM and is open to about 1PM.

You have to visit the Saturday Night Market in Chiang Mai !! It’s amazing !! Filled with endless shops serving food, drinks, snacks, clothing, art and local crafts, people (like a million of them) musicians, toys, the list and the shops never ends !! Make sure to wear your shoes as you have to walk quite a bit, there are shops on either side of the road which stretch around 3 KM just one side !! It’s amazing to see, smell and hear everything going around you !! So lively market !! MUST VISIT !! The Thai Hospitality is just amazing, it’s almost like they are there to serve us the travelers !!

Morning market with a lot of food, snacks, desserts, raw, fresh and cooked vegetables. I am a market person so to me it’s worth exploring and learn the common standard of living of locals. Its where the actual life of a Chiang Mai resident’s starts

The chiang mai gate market is our favorite spot for dinner!! It is open every night and has a big variety of options for everyone. The sushi is fresh and tasty and at a great price (5-10 baht a piece). They will even make a roll as per your request, if they have the products. The fried chicken stand is also amazing. They fry it on the spot so you know it didnt sit all day, and it's hot and crispy. 50 baht for 6 pieces. There's a bun stand that's also quite tasty. Note that in some of the fruit shakes stands the shakes are too watery, barely any fruit in them, but other places are good.

I'm glad I came here. Locals come here to shop early morning. You see fresh vegetables, fruits, they are also selling foods and the cold green tea infront of the market facing the gate is so good.

Plenty of options for food, from street market sushi to squid on a stick to fruit shakes and much more. This market is lively and has great deals! ATMs nearby and a local restroom for a 4 baht usage charge. The vendors are all very nice and welcoming.

Good area to have a taste of all the popular thai dishes and walk off the meal along the market. Much better than night bazaar in terms of space and product selection (still touristy but more variety) Make sure you hit up the center square with all the food as well as the actual market that stretches several blocks long.

This is a very local market, where you can really see how local people are buying and selling stuffs. I went in the morning, and tried one of the local pork soup noodle as breakfast. The lady could understand simple English, and she offered a lot of free side dishes together with my soup noodle.

Although vegans and vegetarians might struggle here a bit the selection of dinner options is quite impressive. It is street food and it ranges from chicken feet noodle soup with plentiful local herbs to coconut deserts to smoothies to “no name” anything.

With all the restaurants closed (covid) now for indoor dining, this market is now one of my favourite spots to pick up dinner. Super fresh Pad Thai for 35 baht! $1.13 US. Lots of options, including shakes & juices, as well as a variety of local foods.

This is a Morning Market to buy Vegetables, fruits, rice, tea, coffee, juice, eggs, cooking general goods and regular stores such as Washing powder, soaps, brush and so on. Social distancing is monitored. Smoking is not tolerated, Wear Mask or else Police can easily spot you. short time Parking is available for cars and bikes. for Cars [10 Baht is collected]. Have many small shops are available opposite to this Market. I used to have Hot Tea or Hot Coffee in local shops. They are better than branded shops.
