This museum was the one I enjoyed most in Chiang Mai! This is huge - 15 rooms of exhibitions and also videos where you can choose between Thai or English sound, and it tells so much about very many different aspects of Chiang Mai's history but also Chiang Mai today. The building was very attractive, Colonial style, with a wooden floor. The museum divided the permanent exhibitions into several time periods. Most are very interesting to learn about ChiangMai history. There will always have a temporary exhibition. I will absolutely strongly recommend a visit to this museum!

90 bhat for foreigners, a good place to get some AC in the heat of the day. More history and culture than art. Follow the red arrows to the different exhibits from the different kingdoms to the founding of Chiang Mai, village life, agriculture to industrialization and modern day.

My second time visited. Many parking lot and good service from security guard, he helped a lot with parking in & out. The musuem is very modern, nice building and good showcase. They changed presentation from times to times. Not many people come in, so its not a busy place at all. Thai resident is free of charge.

Nice place for a quiet visit, and to sit around and relax. Exhibition rooms upstairs and a nice cafe downstairs. Just behind the Three Kings Monument Park.

I thoroughly enjoyed wandering through this Chiang Mai museum. There were a number of great exhibits, two floors and plenty of things to see The entry fee for a single adult (as of June 2022) was 90baht. I believe that price is reasonable and I’m happy I got to visit. There are also plenty of English translations!

Because of covid-19 pandemic therefore there are 2 buildings of the museum available to visit. However, we enjoyed the presentation. A couple traveled in Dec 2021.

I won't upload many photos because I don't want to spoil it, but if you want to visit Chiangmai, I think it's worth it to come here since you can learn about the history here. Only pay for 90 baht for foreigners, you can walk around per section, I think it's fun, plus don't worry about the heat, because the place is so cool. 👌

The Chang Mai City Art and Cultural  Center is a must-visit location where you can learn about the history of the City  Village culture and other things. Beautifully kept and very well displayed. You can also buy coffee. Purchase locally made clothing,  accessories, ornaments, and other handcrafted  goods.

As of July 2022, the entrance fee forThai nationals is 20 Baht and for foreigners it cost 90 baht to enter. I enjoyed this location because it gave great details on the history of Chiangmai and its formation. Some exibits have audio and video. All exhibits provide a description. The descriptions are written in 3 languages, Thai, English, and another Asian language (Either Chinese, Cantonese, or Japanese) sorry I am not sure which specific language it was. I will try to post a picture of the 3 languages they provide. The audio and video are only available in Thai and English languages. They have a small gift shop. There is also a cafe inside the property that sells coffee and desserts. There are only three languages

(Translated by Google) The entrance fee is only 20 baht. Khumkha Mak has gained knowledge of "Chiang Mai's history and culture" and the exhibits look modern. Make it easy to understand Make tourists come to the attention It is an exhibit that is well made. There are many exhibition rooms on the 2-story building. In addition, inside the building there is also a chic coffee shop corner And souvenir shops as well, very good value (Original)

Wonderful! Not very long texts to read and staffs're very nice. It tells the story of Chiang Mai's origin, the local culture and art. The entrance fee is 20 baht and the combined ticket (Lanna museum and Chiang Mai historical center) is 40 baht. Highly recommend to visit here first. It'll make the visit to the other places much more interesting.

It was great visiting the art and cultural center as it was my first time visiting Chiang Mai. I could gain knowledge about this town and its history. I just wish I took more time for the center so I could read all the explanation written on the boards! should have taken about 3-4 hours for this place.

This museum is not the best museum I ever visited though.. By the time I visited, there was an admission program: buy the ticket for B180, I can visit 3 museums in 7 days (with once visit every museum), where normally, for foreign visitor it will admit B90 for each museum.. The collections are so so so many, and managed in interesting and artistic way.. Not just a meaningless group of "old stuffs" put it together and clean up everyday.. No.. Not like that.. They arranged it so we can be brought up to d past.. It is so interesting, with the help of audio and even visual media, to bring us to d time.. Unfortunately, the language of those media were only in local language.. I ever went to one museum in Cambodia, and they provide us the recorded audio media that arranged to follow through the journey of visitor, and it is provided on some international languages as well.. It was amazed me deeply, because then I knew the meaning of some "meaningless looked" of a stuff.. I hope there will be more progress to make the museum less boring and more interesting.. 😊

Great way to spend a few hours. Get the pass that gives you access to the three venues associated with the site. If you have a Thai driving licence you get the local rate.

Chiang Mai is the historical place to see, also to see the culture, there are a number of educational stops to be made that will expand your knowledge of the area and its inhabitants. The prominent sense of identity Chiang Mai has in large measures accounts for its enigmatic spirit. The down side of it is the implication of colonial history, as the architecture itself is lacking its cultural meaning of the British style, instead the museum only provide brief explanation.

This museum tells the history of Chiang Mai, from early Stone Age settlers through the present. I wish I had found the museum earlier, as it gave me important historical and cultural context. Worthwhile, if you want to know the back story.

Definitely a must-see for a first timer in Chiang Mai. They are uplifting some parts of the hall but this did not affect an amazing self-guided tour. Follow the red arrows through the museum. Its well-laid out, informative and interactive. Chiang Mai has a nice history. Particularly interesting was the section on how the city was built. Beautiful cafe and souvenir shop at the end.

The tour guide there were amazing they give short and detailed explanation about the history of Chiang Mai so that we won't need to read every details on the things. I am really amazed by the many art cultures that they have. I reccomend kids to come here because this museum allow kids to walk through the house and see the different rooms. Pretty interactive for kids. They have touchscreens, short clips as well.

great spot which educates you on so many different aspects of the history and culture of chiang mai and thailand. recommend if you’re visiting cnx for an extended period of time and not really sure of what to do in the day. we came here for a quick stop before lunch but ended up staying longer than expected because it was so interesting. love the videos as well, and rest assured that all exhibits and videos have english translations wasn’t too busy which was nice — probably at most 3-5 other people in the same area/room at any one time. students get a small discount on tickets although they’re already inexpensive the gift shop also has some nice items. there’s a small cafe downstairs as well if you’d like to sit and chill with a cup of coffee or have breakfast!

(Translated by Google) Learn about the history of Chiang Mai. The explanation is of course Thai and English. Japanese explanations are only pamphlets. The Japanese in the pamphlet is bad. A clear and accurate Japanese pamphlet is required. The Souvenir shop is full of authentic items. This is the place to buy souvenirs. We came to the City Arts Centre at 415pm. We were not let in. The people in the reception said it was closed. But according to the sign outside they close 5pm on Sundays. I guess they wanted to go home. It is somewhat strange with the very fee tourists around Chiang Mai now.

We love coffee and museum, this place have both. They present Chiang Mai city’s culture and history in a beautiful way, informative and interactive. The coffee shop is the best specialty I’ve tried so far during our time here, with great vibe and services. Also, don’t forget to check the souvenir shop in the second floor.

Well worth a visit to touch up on the local history and culture, arts wasn’t really represented that much. Nonetheless i really enjoyed the various interactive exhibitions and also more traditional displays as well. They have, as every great museum should, a beautiful shop with local artisan products and souvenirs. Downstairs you will find a coffee shop to conclude your tour and relax.

Very interesting place if you like learning about the history of Chiang Mai and Lana culture. A lot of detail went into the presentation and exhibits, but not everything is translated to English (mainly the short film presentations). It will cost foreigners 90 baht and locals 20 baht for admission.

Very informative museum, I really enjoyed all the different rooms and it was bigger than I was expecting. The information is in both Thai and English. Great thing to do if you've got an extra few hours in Chaing Mai, makes you appreciate the city more. I'd highly recommend the cafe too, really knowledgeable about coffee and a lovely outside seating area in the courtyard

Definetely not to be missed! Not only to learn much more about the Lanna culture and the extreme differences in between northern, central, isan and southern thailand. The language, the customs, the history, the textiles, the food is an holistic aproach to the northern culture. There is plenty of information and the place is almost empty. Worth, totally, a visit. The building is stunning, and the displays are beautifully presented.
