Boat cruise departs every hour from this port. Journey duration is about a 2hr (45min go, 30min rest at farm with free fruit, 45 min back). Travel distance is 8kilo meter along the river and 8 kilometers back to port. The ticket can be bought at the Farmer coffee house, 550baht/person.

A nice gentle cruise along the river. Our guide pointed out several points of interest, such as the King's sisters house. At the furthest point we got off and walked around an eco friendly farm - with the guide picking and handing out various herbs to smell or taste. I've cream and herb teas were served (I had ginger tea, Mrs had lemongrass) (you can pay extra for Khao Soi) after about 30 mins at the farm, hopped back on the boat for the return journey. Around 2 hours in total and we'll worth it.

Excellent service and value for money. Beautiful scenery and great hospitality. Private boat cruise is recommended. This family owned business is extremely well run. 5 stars

We bought a river cruise with lunch but this turned out to be tea and an ice cream. It was literally just a boat trip up the river, which was pleasant, to a "farm" which was more of a restaurant with antiques and oddities (which were cool like an elephant skeleton). The location was peaceful and the trip was nice. We were disappointed it was mis-sold as lunch though and overall for an experienced traveller this trip was nothing special. This would suit more someone new to travelling or not spent much time on boats. Good value though.

Here is where you can learn about Chiangmai history by the river. I recommend to take sunset round. It's not that hot. And on the way back it's beautiful to see the lights reflection on the water.

A lovely, fun & relaxing excursion with a little surprise along the way! The Mae Ping River cruise is wonderful as we get to enjoy the scenery, buildings, and local houses along the calm river. During the journey, we received interesting and informative information from our tour guide on certain landmarks. The best part of the cruise is we get to visit a little farm and enjoy fresh, delicious & generous portions of local fruits such as the very sweet watermelon, star fruit, pineapples, etc. It was a refreshing break for all of us.

We were quite disappointed in this river cruise that we booked through our hotel. The hotel pick up was fine and we were looking forward to a nice cruise along the river. But there was a family on board that had 3 boys who didn't stop yelling and banging on the table they were sitting at for the whole time on the boat. The parents did nothing to quite them down. At this point the guide on the boat should have told them to quite down. One lady actually asked them to but they ignored her. We also expected some kind of commentary but there was nothing. We stopped at a so called Thai Farmers house along the way which was just a place to stop and eat and have an ice cream. Then back on board to put up with the noisy kids again. Not worth the 550 baht each that we paid. This is the worst tour we have taken in Chiang Mai.

(Translated by Google) Walk along the river and check into the farm. Excursion "sucked out of a finger." It’s boring to swim along the river, there’s nothing to watch. The farm has rabbits, chickens and geese. There you can have lunch. The food is delicious. Tour with lunch 550 baht for one. (Original) Прогулка по реке и заезд на ферму. Wonderful river cruise (especially if at sunset), 2h for 550baht per person, with a stop at a lovely farm for drinks/ice cream, where we were taken on a tour and shown local plants/trees/fruits.

Highly recommend this tour. Chilled trip down the river to a local organic farm where you can sample fresh teas and locally made ice cream (both were great!). The farm was used to teach locals and tourists alike the traditional ways of life and to grow and utilise herbs and plants as well as how to nurture your garden. Our guide was so friendly and very knowledgeable - we learnt a lot :)

(Translated by Google) Superb walk on the mae ping. Pier where possibility to take drinks and drink them on board. The staff is very friendly. The boats have 6 compartments with 4 places. The engine makes a little noise but it does not spoil anything. At the end of the walk, stop in a cafe to taste a local drink and some fruit. Explanation on the various local and varied trees then at the end of the course on the tools for rice cultivation. 550thb for 2 hours of ride and round trip by taxi so in my opinion interesting. There is a temple in front of the pier if you have some time (Original) Superbe promenade sur le mae ping. Embarcadère où possibilité de prendre des boissons et les boire à bord. Nice boat ride for 2 hours. They leave every hour on the hour. 550 Baht per person. They take you up the river to a farmers village. You get a fruit snack of watermelon and pineapple, and a fresh water/juice. We enjoyed it and thought it was worth the price. It's nothing fancy, but fun to be on the water.

(Translated by Google) If I could I would give 6 stars for a trip to the farmer's house. We had a great guide who told us about almost every building we pass, every tree or shrub on the farm, we learned the recipe for wonderful ginger and lemongrass drinks. Boat trip on the Mao Ping river is the best money spent in Chiang Mai. On the trip at 10.00 we were the only tourists, we felt special. (Original) Gdybym mógł dałbym 6 gwiazdek za wycieczkę do farmer's house. Boat trip on the Mao Ping river to najlepiej wydane pieniądze w Chiang Mai. Na wycieczce o 10.00 byliśmy jedynymi turystami, czuliśmy się wyjątkowo.

If you need time off from the city, you can go on the Mae Ping River Cruise. Online booking was quite convenient, and the staff can speak English very well. The whole river tour didn't last longer than 2 hrs. We ended up at a cozy farmer's café at the riverside and had delicious ice cream. Yumm.

Turned up without a ticket this morning and we got straight on. It’s a very interesting cruise down the river, free ice cream and drink stop before they return. The driver/guide was really fantastic and pointed out the interesting trees and fruit there. I recommend it highly and don’t understand why some people leave poor reviews. You know what you’re getting before you buy the ticket.

Very unsatisfying and bring trip! Purely wasted 2 hours staying on the boat. 🤦🏻‍♀️There is no guide or tour at all. Just drive the boat there, and go to a restaurant, then go back. Buying ticket from Klook will be more expensive! The food was the worst I got in my Chiang Mai trip. 🥲

  • 1/5 2 months ago on Google • 55 reviews New
The ride is good at first, but a bit too long. The service is really good. The engine is loud so best seats in the front. There is not too much going on in this ride, a lot of trouble if you have pickup, especially with klook. The details are in a pdf.

Did a Mae Ping River Cruise Tour with Pelago. The driver arrived early and we were picked up in a 9-seater van. The tour guide was informative. The boat ride took 45 minutes and we had our lunch at Farmer’s House. You can choose Pad Thai or Khao Soi. There are chicken, beef or shrimp options. A bottle of water is also included. An iced drink of lemongrass/lychee and ginger is also in the meal. I requested with warm lemongrass and they were alright with that. The meal ended off with two scoops of ice-cream. You can have the option of travelling back with him to the city or taking your own transport to somewhere else’s after that.

One of the best things to do in Chiang Mai! I feel like this river cruise was a very unique experience compared to other things we did in Chiang Mai, and while the overall operation is a little run down, you get to see a very different side of the city. We did the 4pm cruise and had the whole boat to ourselves. Our driver was heaps of fun and tried his best to point out places of interest along the way. The stop at the Farmer's House is definitely a tourist trap, and honestly quite a sad place in light of COVID and then the floods, but it was still nice to disembark the boat and have a drink before heading back down the river. Don't miss this while in Chiang Mai!

Date of visit : 3 Nov 2022 Time : 10 am The cruise company picked us up at the hotel as part of the package tour. There were only 4 of us for the 10 am tour. The ferry boat leaves every hour. It’s a 45 minute ride upstream to the farmer’s house, a 30 minute rest and tour of the farmer’s house and another 45 mins return. Our package included the lunch but as the allotted time of 30 mins is too short for us to eat comfortably, we requested for takeaway. The food is ok. First time trying Northern Thai famous curry noodles Khao Soy. Some complained about mosquitoes at the farmer’s house but I think the boatman cum guide / cruise company did provide the repellent. In fact if you read enough of the reviews here of restaurants or other attractions, you would bring the insect repellent everywhere you go, especially sitting outdoors or walking in the nature.

  • 1/5 GM K. 1 year ago on Google
Extremely underwhelming river cruise at $20 a per pax.. its just a boat ferrying you to a "tiny farm" which was destroyed hapf by the flood recently. You can only see some plant species.. a rabbit.. and they serve ice cream, but you have to endure swarms of mosquitoes.. if the package was $5 it would have been ok.. bring repellent

Chiang Mai Ping River is one of the city’s landmark. So during staying in Chiang Mai, a cruise along this river shouldn’t to be missed. A leisurely two-hour cruise aboard a cozy boat that travels through the tranquil river provides you with different and exciting perspectives that you wouldn’t find roaming the streets. High recommended to experience. 🫰🏻❤️✨

Nice little tour up and down the Mae Ping river and going to the farmer's house. The guide pointed out various sights along the way and then once we got to the destination, showed us around and got us to smell various herbs. The ice cream included in the tour was delicious. Plus, if you book through their website you get a 15% discount on tickets.

Not sure what to expect, but glad we went on it. We did a well informed cruise up the river, in the daylight. Stopping at their shore based restaurant for the most magnificent Pad Thai or Khao Soi with ice cream desert. There was also a guided tour of their museum giving the history of the area. Then back down the river in the dark. I was thinking of eating on the boat, but was glad we did it this way.

It was a rather slow (disappointing) boat ride on the Mae Ping River .. enroute to Warorot Mkt ... Not much to show & tell .. except for some locals fishing by the river .. quite forgettable .. The Ping River, along w the Nan River, is one of the two main tributaries of the Chao Phraya River .. it's sadly neglected .. so much cld hv been done ...

A nice little cruise up the river, into the countryside. Learn about local life on the river. You stop for a break at the farmers house for drinks and fruit. It doesn’t cost much so well worth spending the few hours on the river.

Don't hesitate to go there several times, but only if you can make time Why ? Because it is what we did and we had the chance to see several interesting events during Yi Peng and Loi Kratong. Like a Wedding, or a gathering of boy scouts or Loi Kratong floating candles launching... And we didn't see any tourists at all. So it was, if dare I say, authentic ? You know, we tourists (!) are always looking for the authenticity of what we see, dreading the crowds or the hustle of sellers forcing into our hands unneeded souvenirs. Well, all this didn't happen near the river, which in itself was remarkable as we were in Chiang Mai for 5 days, last November, for Yi Peng and Loy Krathong (Lantern Festival), which are the top touristic events of the year. However, if you are in Chiang Mai for 1 or 2 days only, then there many more amazing things to see and experience (like visiting the Temples for instance). So if you have enough time, this river is a nice enough place to see, with may be a short cruise on it. As always (or almost) I will attach plenty of pictures...to give you a glimpse of what we enjoyed to see there.

I think for the late tour there should be a little more lighting when you get the tour through the farmers house. Still recommend worth the price

We booked last minute and got picked up right away. All the hosts were incredible, from the pick up driver to everyone at the farm tour. The boat driver pointed out spots along the cruise and interesting things about the farm. We added a food option to our stop and I was so impressed with the presentation. It was also delicious!
