Also known as 'Ming Muang Market,' 'Somphet market' stretches a long way back, under cover, from Moon Muang Road Lane 6, and offers a wide range of Thai vegetables, fruits and meats. Often used by many of Chiang Mai's cooking schools for selecting and buying produce for their classes.

Only 3 stars because this older market has been hit hard by the pandemic....needs a real cleanup. Good hair salon located inside. Prices need to be displayed to avoid Double pricing. IE; Thai/Foreigner. Be sure if your Farang(westerner), you barter a better price.

Somphet market offers a delightful experience for food lovers on a budget. With meals for as low as 35 to 50 baht, the market offers a variety of delicious options such as fish noodle soup, stir-fried kale on rice, and shrimp fried rice. What makes this place truly special is the freshness of the food. The vendors prepare everything right before your eyes, ensuring that each bite is as fresh and flavorful as possible. The servings are generous, making it an exceptional value for the money. The winding alleyways are filled with numerous food stalls, each offering something unique and tasty. From local favorites to unexpected culinary surprises, the options are vast and cater to all palates. It is a must-visit destination for those seeking a rich and authentic Thai culinary experience without breaking the bank. The combination of fresh, tasty food and the vibrant atmosphere of the market creates a dining experience that's hard to beat.

Great fruit market, lots of spices for sale. Try the food here if you're looking for a quick snack. A pork Pad Thai is 50baht, small on size and perfect for grazing.

Not so busy like other markets. All I can say is that it pays to visit and find what you want in here. We got Thai Chilli here @100ThB for 3 packs. They have variety of flowers too! Not a place to go when you want to buy coffee to bring home. There is a nice view on the other side, riverside, if you wanna see the sunrise 😊

Very convenient and enough, if you don't want to get out of the city center to go to a market. I always passed by it, anytime I was near! :)

A small market focused mainly on ingredients. You can find a nice selection of fresh fruit, vegetables, herbs and spices there. Not as touristy as some other markets in Chiang Mai.

Small market but several food stalls with seating. Pad Thai, omlettes over rice $30-$35 which is a great deal and the portion sizes are big. Also a great and very busy iced coffee/tea stand here. Great iced Thai coffee a must try.

Nice local market selling fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, seafood, cooked food, and all kinds of stuff. Very very reasonable prices. Please don't bargain, the prices are already very low. The cooked food stalls serve generous portions.

Bight some curry powder here! Nice little market with good fruit, spices, teas, and some souvenirs. I don’t think you have to go out of your way to come here, but if you are close by and want a snack or treat, def stop in!
