My favorite museum here. Many different types of houses and you can walk around in them. Each one has a background and architecture overview in both Thai and English. Don't miss this! 20 baht fee.

Loved this outdoor museum for traditional houses of the Lan Na. Bring time, something to drink and pick up the brochure at the ticket office since not everything on aide has translation. It is also a great space to just come and relax or read a book.

The landscape and architectures themselves were very interesting and have a lot of potential. The compound actually reminds me of the Live Museum in Oslo, which is one of my most favorite cultural museums worldwide. The exhibition parts are however confusing and are not as attractive as they could have been. The explanation embedded in gold plaque standing in the front of each house tells the story of how the museum was being donated by whom, but the real information about the house was printed on a card and seem hidden. The information provided is also very brief and do not explain the lives of the locals visitors could really learn about. Overall, it's a nice place to visit. You just need to use of lot of imagination to help you learn. So, if you want to learn about local lives, study before you come and you'd be able to put the jigsaws together.

Smalluseum by the university of fine arts that includes 8 traditional houses of differing size. It costs 20 baht to enter and I was the only one there on a Sunday when everywhere is busy. Your could visit all homes inside when I visited but there is much inside and you might get bored of taking off your shoes all the time

It's a good experience to see the lanna traditional houses. But because of my allergies, i can't enter to many houses because it's dusty and have a strong smell. One thing i like was the clocks with their activities, so cute. Ticket is 100 baht

Clean, well maintained grounds that are expansive and house a great collection of Lanna architecture and cool trees that are labelled. You take off your shoes to enter the houses so I would recommend wearing sandals that just slip on. There is a brief description about each home mentioning the style, age, cultural trivia for some, and also who donated it. Renovations and custodians are also noted. The museum was empty when I went, making it that much more enjoyable. Perfect brunch-hour or late afternoon activity with the sun peeping in through the wooden slats and tree- trunk-navels

It's a small enclosure of early Lanna living structures and a Victorian house that some rich European lived in. You can go into them. Has info in English. Entry fee was 50 baht. Staff was nice and spoke fluent English.

So fun and absolutely worth 100 baht. Numerous buildings from a colonial mansion to a bamboo shack. Multimedia exhibits in the colonial House were, sadly, not available the day I was there. The last building housed a wonderful exhibit on forestry and construction techniques. You must remove your shoes before entering each of the buildings, so just take them off and , but don't forget the slippers if you need to use the restroom! That's what they're there for.

What a peacful little gem in the center of Chiang Mai. For those who would like to learn about traditional Lanna lifestyle and local culture of the past this is a perfect place to spend an hour or two. Many huge trees are providing lots of shade and make this place a nice option even on a hot day. It's beautiful to see how old wooden buildings are being preserved and kept as a memory for future generations. Recommended.

Thai (Lanna) Houses mostly built at the beginning of the last century. Interesting, relaxed walk of around 30 till 60 minutes. We were the only customers at this time today. Reasonable entrance fee.

100 baht entry fee to look at houses only about 100 years old... inconvenient location, lack of good descriptions, etc. make this place a no recommend. We walked here (along a dangerous highway, no real sidewalk) with airplanes taking off continuously over our heads and nothing else in the immediate vicinity. I felt deceived by Google Maps reviews. Hard skip.

A quiet place on a Sunday afternoon. Lovely to see old houses, in traditional design placed together in such a tranquil place. A good place for contemplation too. Paid 50 baht for entrance and came with a pamphlet guide.

What a wonderful museum! The Lanna traditional house museum is a treasure trove of Lanna culture and wisdom. The museum has collected and restored several ancient houses that represent the different aspects of Lanna life, such as religion, education, agriculture, and trade. The houses are authentic and impressive, with intricate carvings and ornaments. The museum also offers activities and workshops for visitors to experience the Lanna way of living, such as weaving, cooking, and music. The museum is a perfect destination for anyone who wants to immerse themselves in the Lanna spirit. The overall for 100THB is totally worth it.

100 baht entrance fee & grounds under the care of Chiang Mai University. Good if you are interested in traditional Lanna architecture. Quiet grounds with nicely done examples of gardens near the numerous houses which were originally located elsewhere & relocated here. The original colonial style home on the property has museum type displays. Another house has interesting displays and video demonstrations of traditional tools and carpentry techniques used to build the traditional houses.

Beautiful space, well maintained garden. And really a good walk through different housing styles and uses. It could go deeper into history and detail. But the houses, the wood and natural materials are really well curated.

Absolutely loved this place! Calm and tranquil setting, featuring houses from different Lanna periods, mostly over 100 years old. You get to go inside, see the craftsmanship and feel how the houses were used in their time. Well set out, friendly staff, beautiful grounds and only 100 baht each.

Price has been changed to 50 baht, but still worth a visit. Can't believe this place is not advertised anywhere. I live nearby and noticed it when walking past

A Lanna Architecture Wonderland! This hidden gem of historic structures at Chiang Mai University is a great way to spend a couple hours exploring the artistry & craftsmanship of early 20th century Northern Thai architecture. It's a beautiful campus of restored buildings that helps you gain an appreciation for how people lived about a century ago. Just off Canal Road - and easily walkable from the Nimman area - the 50 Baht ($1.60 US) admission fee brings you into a place few people know about or visit.

One of the most amazing live museuems you should visit. If you'd like to learn the lifestyles of Lanna people in the old days, this place should be in your list. The ticket fee is unbelievably cheap.
