Very large room, but poor maintenance. Much is outdated and falling apart. After being stuffy the first night I checked the AC filters and they appeared to have never been cleaned. Location is good though

Big rooms with a huge swimming pool . The toilet seem dirty but maybe because the rooms are build long time ago. There is a common huge area outside where you can sit down if you are bored inside your room, a massage room on the ground floor and have a reasonable price . Over all not bad for 500 bhat per night

A great value. For $20 and change a standard tidy room with pool, awesome location. Breakfast for less than 3 bucks. This place grows on you. On site massage is awesome, the Korean kid with his tiny bar is fun, and front desk staff are profesh. Owner Charlie and wife P Nit are a kick . Rooms are not perfect - if you want perfect, quit staying at $20 hotels and go to Le Meridian!

Good value. Great front desk service. Good location. The rooms are getting on and showing it. The bed and bedroom was clean however the bathroom hasn't had a proper clean for years with lots of mold all over.

Pros: good location and price. Within walking distance of a lot in old city. Relatively quiet. Comfortable beds. Cons: old hotel that has never been updated. A bit dirty, especially the air conditioning unit. In fact, it was not cooling at all, so I took the filters out and cleaned them. The unit was still very dirty, but at least it cooled.

I love this hotel. Stayed three times, will definitely return. Amazing and friendly staff, lovely pool, great little bar with good priced beer and free pool table. The hotel is a little tatty but I don't care about things like that, you get what you pay for and every time I stay I love it. Thank you Top North and see you again one day.

So good hotel at Chiang Mai . And near by the place where had celebrations of new year. Hotel so cheep and staff also so good caring. But need to request Please keep the room as per booking. Because 1st day I was booked for one double bed but hotel didn’t have two single bed room but after I talked with hotel staff then they agreed to give us another family room. I stayed there 2 night and hotel is so good.

Quaintly dated Viet Nam War era hotel located in the heart of The Old City. Excellent location and GREAT value. Nearly everything within walking distance or very short drive. Tha Prae Gate is only a 3 minute walk. Low-priced large rooms with air-con, comfy bed, fridge, flat-screen TV and big bathroom. Lovely swimming pool and fabulous, friendly staff whom speak good English. Fast free WiFi too. Top North is not luxurious, but is a very good choice for budget minded travelers who want to experience a throwback to a bit of Old Thailand.

The hotel is a bit old, still nice , great for a couple.. most of the guest are old couples actually, and with little kids too, the water on the tap has a bit metallic taste, i didnt drink it i just used it for brushing and washing The room is spacious, the hot shower is working

Please stay away from this hotel! There are many other hotels in Chiang Mai that charges similar price but in much better condition. First, the hotel room is extremely old. Pipes and wires were exposed. The toilet was disgusting with so much stain. There wasn't a hair dryer or any other amenities in the room. The horrible condition of the hotel is nothing compared to the owners of the hotel trying to scam us. When we first arrived, the owners tried to sell us one-day tour to Chiang Rai. They didn’t provide us with any detail of the tour other than stating they would visit the temples we want to visit. They also claimed that they organized the tour with only guests from the hotel. Since we planned to go to Chiang Rai, we paid for the trip. However, they only provided us with a simple hand-written paper as receipt. Later that, we decided not to go to the trip because I had a medical condition that prevented me from going. We asked for a refund, which they refused to provide. Only then we realized they “sold” us to a tour agency that we didn’t know about before. They didn’t provide us with any info of that agency and the itinerary wasn’t the one we were promised. We felt cheated and demanded for full refund. They refused. We had to go to the tourist police to report this scam. Only then did they agree to provide us with a 93% refund. Despite the horrible owners, the staff members of the hotel were nice and helpful.

Dirty, old, old all over the place towels are old It must have been white before but because the water there was not clean any more, a loud noise from outside rang out. It was the most terrifying experience of my life.

The place is very close to the main road, they have their own bikes which are super easy to rent and scam free. The tour guide at the reception was amazing and helped me book all my tours at a very reasonable price. The staff at reception is very fluent with English. The hotel is clean but the construction is old especially the washroom but it’s good for the price they offer.

I really like this hotel. Their pool is the main reason. They have a lovely pool, you just have to walk out of your room, and it’s right in front of you. A nice place to relax and take in the sun as the pool area gets the sun, all day long. The rooms are clean and comfortable, beds are big and comfortable. Shower is decent too. They serve a buffet breakfast and their restaurant serves food all day. Staff are very helpful, and there is a travel agent in the reception area. It’s in a very central location in Chiang Mai too.

OLD and rundown place. Far better places for the same amount. The pictures they use make look nice, but just wait until you see the room. Nit sure where these people were from or staying that gave it 5 stars.

Value for money if you want a big room and a pool in this location. But everything is old and broken.

No hot water in my room on third floor. Beware of hotel taxi service. Expensive and another person was added to my ride without notification. Tuktuk will cost less.

The noise from the Muay Thai place nearby makes this place almost unbearable. The location is good. The price is OK. Place is fairly rundown and hasn't aged well.

I would like to give this hotel a better review however my room was right next to the Muay Thai fighting which is the loudest thing I've ever experienced in my life The announcer is literally screaming into a super amplified speaker. There's no way you can sleep through this from 9:00 till 12:00 many nights a week it was terrible. The walls are paper thin anytime anybody anywhere sneezes or closes a door it jars you out of sleep. All the noise from the street comes flying in. There is always people yelling in the parking lot echoing through the place. I guess if you're a city person that won't bother you. Also connecting to the Wi-Fi was a nightmare. Every time you leave the hotel or wake up in the morning you have to re-log in. It does not reconnect. So three or four times a day you have to find the password and sign back in. Otherwise it's a nice hotel with a nice pool. The room was basic, clean, and fine for the price. Some of the less expensive rooms are really old and really dirty. For a little more you got a better room still very noisy. Management is nice. I had to move to a different hotel.

False online advertisement with booking websites as they list an outdoor swimming pool as a facility. The picture presented online is a far cry from reality (see attached) so this is the reason I give it a 1 star rating. The room was large and the location was great. The room, however, had dead bugs in the bathroom beside the glasses, the batteries in the air-con remote were dead and the water comes out with a yellow tinge (I think it’s from rusty pipes so at least I get my copper intake). You can also rent a kettle or a hair dryer at reception for approx. 400thb - 500thb. There are better hotels, at a cheaper price, that are cleaner, and that resemble their online pictures more.

The only thing I have to say about this property is that Agoda committed FRAUD by booking me in to the wrong dates here. I entered the dates 1 Jan - 31 Jan., 2023 And they have charged me for 4 January on And the webpage to change the booking does not work. And the cancellation procedure is turned OFF. So you cannot cancel the booking they they made illegally by their mistake. If I go to the hotel to get this mess straight they will say they cannot do anything about online booking. And Agoda cannot do anything about mistakes made when the Agoda program arbitrarily changed dates You need to keep this in mind when dealing with these people

It’s an old and dirty hotel. Stayed here for 3 nights coz the location/price were good. However, will definitely not come back again even for such a cheap price!
