Central location - unfortunately windows are only single-glazed and allow in a lot of the street noise. Room was ok, breakfast was ok, staff were nice.

Hotel M has a very convenient location going for it. Located right by the eastern gate, you have access to the shops in the old city and outside too. However, during my stay, I explored the old city and found several nice shops in the area. I got a deluxe room 316 which was of a decent size. The bed is comfortable and the air conditioning works well (an important factor considering the hot afternoons). There’s also a large variety of cable TV shows, but quite a number of them are dubbed in Thai and it’s not possible to select the original language. The shower was a little small but usable. One complaint I have is the smell of sewage which seems to be running through the ventilation shaft. But this is something that can be ignored. As I was working remotely, I found the Wifi speed of 30 Mbps down and 3Mbps up pretty good. While it wasn’t blazingly fast, I was still able to attend virtual meetings. Breakfast is on the second floor and served from 6.30am to 10am. It has a decent spread, where you can toast sliced bread, choose from watermelon or pineapple for fruits, a small salad section and some hot food. In the 3 days that I was staying here, there was relatively small variation in the hot food selection. It would alternate between white rice and fried rice, stir fried noodles with chicken and sour and sweet chicken. Nonetheless, the spread had something for everyone. I liked the porridge where I could pick my protein and add toppings. I’m quite surprised by the guests here as many of them are early risers. At 7am, the restaurant can be packed and finding a table can be hard. While the restaurant has several tables, the seats further in face the morning sun and can get hot real quick. On the other hand, there are only two tables next to the swimming pool which I consider prime seating, because you get this cool morning breeze coming in. For those who want to get their fitness in during a vacation, the gym is open from 8am to 7pm and is accessed with the keycard. It’s relatively small with a few benches, a set of dumbbells and a treadmill. For the hot days, there is a pool outside to dip in. Overall I had a comfortable stay here at Hotel M. The convenient location and the decent breakfast spread are two points why I might want to stay here again.

Unfortunately we did not enjoy our stay here. Sad to say the only positive things were the friendly cleaners and breakfast staff. We wanted to change our stay but couldn't as we had paid in full.

Hotel M is very centrally and conveniently located in Chiang Mai’s Old town right behind the iconic red old city wall and city gate. From our pervious holidaying experience in Chiang Mai, the city has virtually no public transportation available therefore, getting the right location for the hotel is the most important as you are likely to reach any destinations by walking and biking apart from renting a car or using share ride such as Grab. There is a money exchanger and burger king right next to the hotel and a nice café serving excellent coffee and bakeries across the street. There are plenty of other restaurants, bars, shops, spas and famous temples within walking distance from M Hotel making it a great starting point for everything! The M hotel provides the expected friendly services, clean and comfortable accommodation in a more traditional style and offers excellent value for budget conscious travellers. We also enjoyed the buffet style breakfast and found the food refresh and plentiful. The outdoor pool is a good way to refresh specially after a busy day out in the hot weather. If you have a rental car, there are few parking in front of the hotel and plenty other spaces at the nearby streets. We had the hotel pick up and drop off services in the hotel van which is very nice and hassle free for our arrival and departure. It takes only 20 minutes each way and if you are using taxi or Grab, it should be around USD 15. Travel Tip. If you are an foreigner renting a motorbike in Thailand, make sure you have your international driver’s licence. Overall, we have always had a great experience at Hotel M and will be staying again when we visit Chiang Mai again.

21 Dec 2023. Thanks buddy for staying in the same hotel and brought us to the train station next morning, Really appreciate your effort. This hotel is strategically located to the ancient castle gates, which is an attraction to many tourists, including us. We walked to a hawkers area, quite a distance to have our dinner. Had a fruit juice that cost half of the price in Bangkok, 20 Baht. Breakfast was decent and you can view the ancient gates. As the Christmas was close by, many decorations.

I have stayed at the hotel twice and the staff were very helpful and rooms were great. The hotel has a great position right near the Gate and transfer to the airport was perfect.

Super convenient location with Starbucks and a 24-hr Burger king right next to it, a 7-11 a mere 5 mins walk. Just a little further down are great places for food, local n western. John's place, a 3-storied building offering beers n food is a few steps away where one can opt for rooftop dining. The hotel has a small gym n swimming pool. The buffet breakfast was good offering mainly local dishes. Rooms are clean, everything works, service staff are efficient and helpful. Guests wishing to smoke are given a comfortable space in the backyard of the ground floor. This is my fourth time staying here. There are ample parking spaces in front, and if riding your big bikes, do park within the sheltered premises behind.

We stayed here for 4 nights on our very first visit to Thailand. Not disappointed. Landed AM on weekday and the free shuttle picked us up as promised and driver was super nice. The hotel is a short drive from the airport The check in was smooth and they allowed us in the room even though we were a few early than the official check in time. The room is OK. The bathroom is OK as well. The mattress a bit too hard for our comfort. TVs have limited English channels. After staying for more than 24 hours on planes and airport the room was haven for us. The breakfast has limited vegetarian choices and when told we both were vegans, the staff made special veganized Thai traditional dishes for us. The staff were so good to us throughout our stay and were mindful and courteous. The location is nice as the sits right on the edge of town centre. Many restaurants (many vegan) nearby as well. You can walk or take a 30 BHTs to many places. The hotel is clean and good place to stay and you should choose this hotel for its people

Well maintained, very helpful staff, and fantastic location with lots of attractions, restaurants, cafes, temples, pharmacies, 7 elevens and alot of other things in walking distance from the hotel. They provide free airport drop-offs, which is amazing! They also gave me a small gift for the Chinese New Year.

It's an older hotel but it is nice and comfortable. Great AC, good food at breakfast, and very kind staff. The showers are a little wonky but the water pressure is a 10/10, which is great if you were out and about all day. Ask for a room facing inward if you can - much more quiet.

Stayed here for 3 nights in January in a Superior Twin Room. The hotel has a great location, but be warned that if you are on the side of the property facing the Tha Pae Gate it is very noisy due to the roadways on that side. The breakfast buffet was good. The pool is tiny, and has very few loungers around it. Don't go here expecting a great pool experience. The rooms were clean but the room we had on the first night had a strong sewer gas smell coming from the bathroom, and there was no hot water for the morning shower. When we complained, the front desk moved moved us to a different room the second night, and it was better. However, on the third night, again there was no hot water. For these reasons I am docking the hotel 2 stars in my rating.

Excellent hotel in Chiang Mai. The location is perfect, it’s very new and the decoration feels super fresh and chic. It’s kept very clean, reception are nice and the breakfast was really good (and with an amazing view over the swimming pool).

The hotel is good, only it near Tha Phae Gate. Room very old, no toothbrush, always autobike without muffler, and Kara OK nearby at night. If you want to find hotel in the old town, try to get one deep in the small valley.

+: Excellent location Nice breakfast Nice staff Nice pool -: Wifi connexion is very bad in the room Standard room is better than Deluxe room which is close to the street and therefore noisy

OK: location (in front of Phae gate, major tourust attractions are within walking distance ); price (in November 2023, 25 eur/day for a double room including breakfast), pool and gym (both basic though) NOT OK: extremely noisy if your room is facing the Phae Gate and not the pool (cars and motorbikes running 24/7, impossible to sleep), noisy air con within the room; water running from other rooms clearly audible

Affordable stay. Complementary airport shuttle. Spacious rooms with free water and snacks. Staff speak good English. Perfect location in the heart of Chiangmai. It's literally right next to the Sunday Walking Market! Tons of restaurants and shops nearby. I loved the touch of the elephant towels in the room. Breakfast selection is okay with various Western and Thai dishes. Rooftop pool was dope! We were the only ones using it for 2 hours. Sooo relaxing and much needed on a hot 36 degree day.

Our room needed attention as you walked on parka floor from shower the floor would lift up so you had to reset it, no bar, no room service, no restaurant, on power cuts there was no emergency lights in corridors or stairwells, staff were great cant say anything negative about them

Comfortable, clean hotel in a prime location in Chiang Mai right at Tha Phae Gate (old town Chiang Mai). I booked primarily because of their gym which is nothing fancy but there are a few dumbbells, a treadmill, stationary bicycle, and a powerful AC. Did not use the pool but it looked clean.

Best location... All pick up points for tours are near by... Very helpful staff.... Very clean and neat rooms with all amenities The rooms facing road is bit noisy. But they helped to change our room on our request very quickly. They have complimentary airport pick up/drop. Don't miss that too... Breakfast with limited options. But hygiene and tasty. They allowed to take away breakfast as it was late for our tours. I recommend to stay in this hotel which is cost effective.

Great location! Room was a bit dated and dark. Need lights in bathroom, and a place to put luggage. A luggage rack would be good. Staff was wonderful and breakfast was good.

Made a booking via Agoda on 31st Dec. Requested for a room facing the gate and they gave it to me!! Superb experience with hotel M acceding to my request for a unforgettable new year countdown in Chiang Mai. Will be back definitely!

GREAT location! Smack in the middle of The Old City and directly across from the Tha Phae Gate. Near Loi Kroh Road and many restaurants and bars are within easy walking distance. Location is everything and the reason Hotel M gets 4 Stars instead of 3. Had to change rooms initially, as the first room was dirty and dingy with no view. However, the staff is excellent...friendly and accommodating...and we were moved to a much nicer and brighter room with a view for our 10 night stay. Has a swimming pool and a very nice free breakfast buffet. Free WiFi too.

The staff is extremely helpful and courteous. Also centrally located and allowed me to walk around the city and explore. Would definitely recommend, especially if it's your first trip to Thailand/Chiang Mai.

Stayed there for 3 nights. The hotel service staff were friendly and helpful. The bed was too stiff for my preference and while the hotel serves breakfast, it's okay to forgo and head down to the eatery right beside it for a scenic breakfast view

For some context, I speak Thai and English. This made communication easier, although all the staff speak a fair amount of English. For the price, this is a great hotel. The location is also amazing. There’s a night market near by for souvenirs and keepsakes, there’s a 7/11 nearby, and a Burger King right beside the hotel if you miss the Americas. The staff were all awesome, the complimentary breakfast had enough to start our day well. Overall, we enjoyed our experience here.
