The hotel was spacious and big and rooms were a good size and comfortable and clean with a great view of the mountains from the 12th floor where we were. The breakfast was good. The hotel has good size gym and swimming pool. Apparently also spa facilities but we did not get a massage here. There is undercover car parking but at night the lighting is very dim. It is surrounded by a abandoned shopping mall which makes the area surrounding the hotel have poor lighting if you are walking from the hotel to the Main Street, It is a very long walk to old city so use grab or taxi if you are here and want to go into the city. Sections of the hotel on the gym level when you walk out into the main hall way was very dark and poor lighting. The customer service in the breakfast area was great and very helpful. The customer service at the front counter was terrible and they would not honor our agoda booking stating that the room bed setup we ordered was not available and only option they gave us was to pay a extra 700 baht on the first night to get the room setup we offered. Their excuse was agoda does not confirm with them what is available before confirming bookings which I later learnt from another hotel owner is not true and hotels must honor their agoda bookings and the customer service officer at the counter was just making excuses for their stuff up. They said sorry sir other people booked before you and we cannot give you what you want but you can cancel which you can’t as you will use one night through agoda. Then I said I paid for it and want what I paid for and they said they could not provide it and that’s where the extra 700 baht came in for first night booking. They did not seem to care that they could not provide us what we paid for and only focused on charging us more to give us what we wanted. I only have this hotel 3 star because of the good size clear room and breakfast. But I would not stay here again because of the customer service and also because it would not suit my need as I like to be in working distance of where basically the night life is when I stay in hotels. But I will be putting a complaint into agoda about this hotel as advised by another hotel owner.

I recently stayed at this hotel and honestly I must say, it was a really disappointing experience. While the entrance appeared nice, the room itself left much to be desired. The blankets were dirty and broken, and even after requesting a change, we were given blankets in a similar dirty condition. The condition of the mattress was not much better. It seemed like it hadn't been changed since the hotel opened in the 90s. It was dirty, yellowish and uncomfortable making it very unpleasant to sleep on. To even create a worse experience and frustration, the fancy-looking elevator broke down during our stay, and we were lucky to avoid getting stuck inside. It's alarming that such important facility isn’t properly maintained. Furthermore, your advertised gym and restaurant were both closed. The gym was totally dark and seemed unmaintained It was also a disappointment to discover that the restaurant was only open for breakfast but not during lunch nor dinner. This lack of available amenities is unacceptable for a supposedly 4-star hotel. Given these issues, it comes as no surprise that we only lasted two days of our booked week-long stay before finding a different hotel with better conditions and cleaningness. Your hotel fell far short of our expectations, and it certainly did not live up to the standards one would expect from a 4-star establishment.

I would not recommend this hotel. I’m not sure how it’s rated 4 stars. From the moment I walked in I didn’t get good vibes. It’s far from the main road and not convenient if you do not have a motorbike. The hotel is not updated, it’s maintained the old traditional Thai style, which is fine as long as it is still clean and well taken care of which is not the feeling I got when I walked into my room. All the fixtures are old and the room just felt musty. They also don't have a safe in the room, they have one at the front desk you can use, but I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that. And it was frustrating that the wifi kept disconnecting and I had to keep logging in again. I work remotely and having good wifi is a big factor for me. I work US hours which means I’m working late at night into the early morning. After a long night of work, all I wanted to do was take a nice shower and go to bed. I wish that was the case, when I went to take a shower, it came out in a thin, forceful stream that pelted my body so hard it hurt. Tired and frustrated cause it’s 6:30 am at this point I go downstairs to the front desk to address the issue of the shower and the wifi. I requested if I could get a new room and the lady said she would send someone up to look at it first and if it couldn’t be fixed she would give me a new room. After going back up to my room, someone finally came after 15 minutes. He fiddled with the shower head for a little bit but didn’t fix anything. I tried to communicate with him, but he didn’t speak English well. He left with no resolution, I thought he might come back or I would hear from the front desk. Neither happened. Laying in bed more frustrated and extremely tired, I couldn’t even fall asleep cause the walls are thin and there was a family with a child next door and I could hear their conversation. By now it’s past 7 am and all I want to do is go to sleep. With no help from the hotel, I called Agoda, who I booked through to cancel and get a refund. I had booked 7 nights and there was no way I wanted to stay past the one night. Thankfully, Agoda has excellent customer service and they were able to talk to the hotel and get the remaining nights refunded for me.

The price and quality are okay. But the atmosphere in the department itself is depressing. I was here in April 2022, there's hardly anyone here, the ceilings are low and everything looks more like a bees' nest. The staff were polite and cleaned well, but again, the atmosphere was just not to my liking. The feeling when you don't want to go back to the hotel.

Apart from the check in process, this place was a beautiful hotel to spend some quiet time at. They are very strict about the check in time and I had to crash in the couch for around 5 hours before they could check me in at 2PM. The staff could be more polite but are helpful. Accepts card payments. The whole traditional aesthetic to this hotel is very appealing and the rooms are just beautifully maintained. It can get very quiet but it’s a peaceful quiet. I would suggest lighting up the outdoors a bit as it looks a bit dull during the night. The breakfast is also very luxurious and clean. Overall a very good experience.

I paid 26$ for 2 single bed on July 2022. The hotel was so quiet. It would be scary if you come with 2 or 3 people. They don’t even open the AC on the hall way and it’s so dark on some floors. The room is okay but the bathroom I would say 5/10. I won’t come back here anymore.

DO NOT STAY HERE Our trip here in Chiang Mai is ruined due to MOLD EXPOSURE. The hotel as soon as you step inside is very humid and that continues throughout the rooms. There’s no proper ventilation throughout the whole building and the hotel informed us that the a/c system is not working. Our room stayed at 28 °C which is unbearable and we were sweating throughout the night. We woke up sick (runny nose, headache, sneezing and coughing) but slowly we realized that we have all the symptoms for mold exposure. Even the towels smell like mildew. The hotel is extremely outdated and the bathroom is not clean at all. Other reviews have said there are ROACHES in their rooms. Although we did not notice any, I can believe that statement. The hotel breakfast was very bad. Barely any options and the only fresh food was the fruit. This hotel is truly a HEALTH HAZARD!!! I do not know how anyone can stay here If I could give 0 stars I would.

    1. Starting from the hotel entrance The landscape around the hotel has not been improved. The trees and grass are very messy. It's like it's been an abandoned hotel for a long time. 2. Counter service staff Not very willing to provide service Checking in is like going to beg for free hatch. The check-in and check-out system is not very reliable. 3. If you book through the Agoda app and say "free breakfast," you can be sure you won't receive breakfast. Must pay additional money separately. 4. The room is a Brahma, which makes it look like it has accumulated dirt for a long time. It is extremely dangerous to health. There's no need to ask for cleanliness. Found a dead cockroach in the room. 5. Restaurant The food can be said to be not delicious at all. There are few to choose from. Below the standards of general hotel restaurants. 6. Overall employees are not very willing to provide service. Not very welcoming It's like you went to beg for alms. 7. The internet system is very poor, low speed, easily disconnected, very often.

If you care about your health, do NOT stay here. We booked this place because it’s considered 4 stars and had good reviews. If this were in the USA, it would be considered 2 stars, if I was being generous. The rooms and hotel overall are extremely outdated, which wouldn’t be a problem if the facilities were kept up with. I wouldn’t call the rooms clean either. Everyone in my room got sick every time we entered our room because of mold. I’m talking coughing, sneezing, sore throat, and headache to name a few. Even the clean towels smell like mildew. Conveniently, every time we were away from the hotel for at least a few hours, we magically felt better. We asked the front desk to provide us with a dehumidifier and they didn’t understand what we were asking for. We also let them know when we set our thermostat to 18° C, we were profusely sweating throughout the night, indicating the A/C wasn’t working. They told us they were having problems with all of the a/c units and offered us a different room to stay in. We went to that room for an hour and it was the exact same conditions. So we had no choice but to suffer and we chose to sleep with masks on to limit our mold exposure. We booked another hotel for our remaining days in Chiang Mai because this is truly unacceptable.

When you walk in, and go up the lift, the hotel looks really posh, however once you check into the rooms, you realise the hotel is pretty dated, and really pushing it for the price. We had to switch rooms because none of the plug sockets in the room, actually held a plug in, the plug would keep falling out. The second room was barely better, but I could just about keep them 3/4 in, if I wedged something underneath to hold it up, not sure how safe that is. Mattresses are pretty bad, springs that have come up all over, and really not a great sleep. Mattress toppers would have been a great improvement. Also you only get one key per room, which I think is insane. If you're sharing with a family member, what you want to go to different places, one wants to go to bed early (key has to stay in for electricity to stay on), or you just have different plans? I don't know how you can only provide one key for a twin room. Do the bigger rooms also have only one key? Also the hotel is mostly filled with coaches of tourists, so something to consider. Bathrooms are also pretty dated, and showers are probably made for people 5'6" and under. On the plus side, the rooms are BIG, and they have a large swimming pool, however no shade. Breakfast was very good. Would not stay again though.

This review is about the swimming pool and not about the hotel. The pool is on the rooftop so as long as the sun shines you are good. It's very big and cheap and the view is nice. For a 100 baht you can use it without staying at the hotel and they ll give you a clean towel. There are showers as well and a food service. Very good.

Clearly a hotel being kept under life support. It’s sad to see a hotel lie about the condition of their rooms by posting pictures that don’t reflect the current condition. Bathrooms look white and sparkling clean when in reality, they are completely worn out with mold and bacteria buildup everywhere. Don’t trust the posted pictures like we did, they had to be taken at least 10-15 years ago.

I used the pool for a day. Paid 100baht and got a towel. It was a bit run down and needs some TLC. There was not much shade in the daytime and there were no umbrellas. There was a sort of shaded veranda. There were loads of plastic chairs and maybe 5/6 sun beds. There’s no bar or food (there was a vending machine). There were clean toilets and showers. The pool was huge & clean & 1m80 depth perfect for diving.

Location is pretty good. Although Google maps always takes you an extra long way to get there, if you stay a few days you'll find the short cut. I'll try to be pragmatic on my review so I don't come across as a disgruntled guest just venting. Positives: - good location, I love this area of Chiang Mai and it's close enough to old town that it's easily walkable - the gym is better than most hotels I've been. It's an actual membership gym so you have to get a coupon every time you want to go (it's free). It's definitely worth the trade off as it's a full gym and not just a typical "hotel gym" - big pool. It's pretty hard to find a hotel in ChiangMai at this price range to have such a large sized pool. - I had a really good view of the pool (although I imagine I got lucky as everything else around the hotel looks abandoned) Negatives: - the service is non-existent. You may as well be staying in an airbnb. Few examples: 1. If you call house keeping for anything, they say okay will send someone and no one shows up (happened twice). 2. I asked for early check-in through communication a few days before booking and they said they will try their best to accommodate but can't be sure and to just ask at front desk. This is perfectly acceptable so when I arrived I asked if I could check-in early and the lady without looking at anything just said no (this was not a weekend or any national holiday and the hotel was mostly empty to the point of being abandoned). Furthermore, she told me check-in is strictly at 3pm with no exceptions (would have been nice to tell me that during our initial correspondence). Anyway, I came back at 3:30pm and my room wasn't ready so I had to wait 30 min in the lobby. Not fun. - the bathtub is separate from the shower but it's basically disgusting and not really useable - the showerhead in the shower is small and although the water pressure is strong, it shoots out like a gun through a narrow opening and is just not a comfortable experience - no hot water. This wasn't a big issue as I went during hot season and the room was so hot, I didn't mind showering with mildy warm water - AC cannot go cooler than 24 degrees, this maybe a problem for anyone who loves blasting the AC. The room stays mildly cooled at best - no safe in room - no power plugs near bed (hard to charge devices) - balcony has been converted into an "indoor terrace". This warms up the room significantly and Im sure most people would prefer to just have an actual balcony where windows can be opened for fresh air and it can be separated from the "bedroom" - cleaners leave the door open while cleaning (this makes sense as it's two of them and probably a safety feature so one person can never be alone in your room). However, this usually let's in mosquitos and out of my 6 days there at least 3 nights had multiple mosquitoes that bit me constantly. I called to ask for a repellent or spray and they brought me a road cockroach spray, also fun..

What an amazing experience for an outstanding price! It's a shame to not see more people there because the beauty of this hotel is in the history and details. The pool is beyond gorgeous, and the lobby is astounding and inviting. My 3 year old loved the staff, and we all felt welcomed. It would be a dream to have seen it in its heyday. I look forward to coming back in the future.

Definitely seen better days, built in early 90s so it’s quite old. Could do with some maintenance but everything worked, staff was helpful and polite. Breakfast was good. I would of loved to se the hotel in its prime, it was massive and grand for the age.

We stayed in a double bed room for 3 nights. The hotel is a bit outdated, from the 70s maybe? The beds are comfy and well made, the shower had plenty of pressure, but a bit low for my 1.80m. The front desk is very welcoming and helped us out with our luggage storage and more. We had 3 power outages during our stay, and not all the outlets provide enough power to charge your phone, a bit of a bummer to start the day with an empty phone. The location is great, 10-20 minute walk to most populair sites. Big pool, okay views and a nice lobby to chill in.

Nice location with large pool. Pool chairs has a lot of cracks and should be cleaned. Called for room service but they have none. Sign said dinner buffé every evening but they had it once in 10 days. I heard they have just reopened again after covid and things might be better. Very old hotel with potential. Try not to get lost in dark closed areas.

Well priced, likely subsidized by the consistent power outages at night. Make sure you plan ahead; bring a flashlight and a good scary story for the 9pm and onwards power outages. No you won’t have wifi access for your phone while waiting for the power to come back on, that’s silly. Suspiciously convenient for a vampire to find victims, but I won’t be sticking around long enough to get closure on that thought.

I didn’t stay in the hotel, I came here for the swimming pool. 100 Baht and you get a towel. The pool is huge and you’re most probably the only one in there. When I stood long at one spot I noticed some little animals living in the pool, however the pool seemed rather clean. The surrounding were not as clean, for example when walking to the changing room. Not as pleasant.

Great location, the streets Infront are full of great cafes and restaurants, nice to walk around in the evening. The room was huge, which was lovely! Very comfy bed and great air con. Room was turned over beautifully every day. Was nice to have a bath which I don't think many places would offer. The place definitely seemed old fashioned, like an old grand hotel transported to present day, but I really enjoyed this, and nothing seemed old or worn out so it was really charming and cute! Pool was great and free for people staying. Only down sides: no bidet for some reason, still unsure if you could flush toilet paper. And it was 100bhat for the fitness center.

I was saddened on how the Hotel have aged. Please book here as it is totally astonishing. You will be welcomed with a very beautiful facade of the hotel. Though the Hotel rooms and toilets have really aged and seems not properly maintained through out the years. They really need to have some fixing or renovation. It gives a very luxurious feeling of being in the Thai countryside and it is wonderful. A lot have closed down due to the pandemic but they are trying to hold up.

A once glamorous hotel which is still holding up! I booked a junior suite there after feeling confined at another property. This suite did not disappoint with regard to room size and furnishings. The room had a great west facing view with a wide array of windows. The bathroom was ample, with a shower and a large separate bathtub. The foyer to the suite featured a very large space for luggage and a closet larger than most homes. A sofa and a wing chair are featured at one end of the room with a small coffee table and a large desk table. The other end of the room has a square table accompanied by 3 nice cushioned chairs. An ample refrigerator and a counter with a kettle sit against the wall. A comfortable king size bed, too. It's easy to see that this hotel was the epitome of elegance in it's day and if my room is any example, it's holding up well. A dozen storeys of rooms around the perimeter with the center open from skylighted roof to the ground floor. The breakfast buffet was good, too. I only stayed one night before going to the airport to fly out so I didn't get to explore the neighborhood. I think it's worth booking just to give it a look. Oh, also three glass elevators the allow a view of the huge open atrium.

Needs Improvement The hotel experience was less than satisfactory despite its scenic balcony view. The hotel's age is apparent, particularly in the outdated furniture and bed linens. An update of these facilities is necessary for improvement.

We have backpacked as a family through Asia on a budget and this hotel met our needs for a budget price. Although old, the rooms are very spacious and the interconnected option was great. We stayed on 11 floor and rooms were made up nicely each day, internet and aircon worked fine in our rooms. The large pool was great for the kids to play. We returned again and had another good experience here. All up we have spent 12 nights. Breakfast has waffles, cereal, fruit and yoghurt, soup and stir fried options with salad. If you go not expecting new, 5 star hotel you will be impressed. Budget friendly and better than some rooms we paid double the price for elsewhere. A few nights the lights came on passed midnight I think the generator must have kicked in but it was a small inconvenience.

The hotel is extremely old. A lot of maintenance is urgently and mandatory needed. 4 Stars hotel is a big lie and not worth even 2 Stars!!!!! Door seem to be broken in. Sink is leaking. Roof is falling down in the room. Area around is shut down and creepy. Parking lot is not enough, then you have to park in dark parking area. No lighting in the front area. Guests have to walk in the dark.

Large conveniently located a short tuktuk ride from the old city and a short drive from the airport. Rooms are large with extensive woodwork. In its heyday this was a stunning hotel, unfortunately the past few years have taken a toll. Still with the location, room size and reasonable price it's a good choice.

The hotel boasts an expansive size and features a stunning lobby that immediately captures attention. The interior exudes a classy and vintage charm, creating a nostalgic atmosphere with its retro vibes. The carpeted floors and wooden decor throughout add to the old-world charm. Even the rooms transport you back in time, furnished with vintage elements like an old box television, classic furniture, and a retro phone. The cleanliness and tidiness of the place, along with ample space for relaxation and conversation, were commendable. However, a downside was the absence of a water hose in the toilet. The bathroom offered both a bathtub and a shower area. Moving on to breakfast, it was a delightful experience with a diverse array of options. The pool, though impressive, opens at 9 am. The staff, while generally satisfactory, faced a language barrier for some. One notable service offered was a late check-out option until 4 pm for an additional 300 Bhatt per room. The hotel's location, a convenient 5 to 7-minute walk from the main road, makes it ideal for couples or families. Overall, I wouldn't hesitate to return, considering the positive aspects and the unique retro charm that sets this hotel apart.

Pros: -Great selection of buffet breakfast -The concierge couldn't do enough for you -The pool is decent - can also visit for 100 baht if you're not staying in the hotel - beds were comfy - the glass lifts overlooking the centre of the hotel were a great spectacle. -the bar in the middle of the hotel had a great selection of drinks and cocktails, if it is closed you can grab a drink where they are serving dinner (same restaurant area they serve breakfast) till 10pm -ordered room service once - was quick, tasty and cheap. A few things to note... -air con was a bit noisy but worked well - the lighting control panel in the room was very old school. Handy for working all the lights from where you slept. However a light by the room door came on by itself at 5.30am every morning, I am sure there would have been a way to fix this as it was definitely on a timer just wasn't savvy enough. -the balcony in the room - needs a lick of varnish or paint? Careful if you're hanging stuff on there to dry as it transferred to clothing a bit. Nothing a bit of vanish stain remover couldn't fix though! All being said was charmed by the place. Felt well looked after. Great location for wandering into the centre or the concierge will help sort you out a taxi for a decent price. Would recommend for the breakfast and pool alone.

Very unique style and atmosphere and big Room these are the only advantages. Service is quite poor , rooms are not well maintained. My toilet was constantly leaking and water all over the floor , never fixed . The phone didn’t work so I couldn’t order room service , I had to keep reminding them to clean the room , old TV that is useless. Internet is ok. If the service was better I would definitely recommend staying for a long term.

our team hotel every time we are in Chiangmai. very standard, nothing surprise, staff are friendly, rooms are relatively big (compared to others in the same tier), just a bit dated. 15 minutes walk to Nimman area, or another direction into the old town, very convenient ! absolutely good value for money. during the covid-19 off season, this huge property is literally empty. the lobby floor used to have live music and people around, but now dead quiet, light is off. it is very sad. hope we see a better picture next time we are here !

The hotel is old and doesn't seem to have been updated since it first opened. So you can say that the hotel has a lot of the "original charm". The rooms old and needs to be updated but is huge which was nice. The hotels breakfast is mediocre (doesn't look like anything in the pictures) and the wifi is not the most reliable (better than no wifi). I had to keep signing in which was annoying. The staff was friendly but does not give a complimentary late check out (charges 600 baht) and they have a shuttle service to the airport for 100 baht. But pick up is free.

The hotel was modest for the price but the hotel turned off the air-conditioning every night around 2am for the entire during of my 4 night stay. This made the experience stifling and unpleasant as it was a very hot month. The hotel is old and has seen better days but the room quality and large pool are excellent. The staff are very friendly and helpful. Just that aircon turning off for everyone in the hotel at night made my stay most unpleasant.

Came to use the pool because o read it was one of the best in Chiang Mai. Maybe in the 1970s! Now it’s just a run down, beat up, tired place with no view except of the back of the mall on one side and a car park on the other. Really not worth the bother.

Really spacious like a 5 star hotel suite room! Everything seems really old but clean! The only issue is the mattress which was worse than a hostel bed! ( I felt the springs on my back) Also the guard rails are too low! for safety issues! Children playing or running can be fatal if~

A truly unique buliding that has a charming 90s quality to it. Great value for money considering the views (particularly the rooms facing Doi Suthep), the 50 meter pool and gym which has a great range of equipment. Staff are polite and super helpful both at the breakfast area and bar.

Very nice stay. A huge hotel old-style, with moquette, and apparently capable of hosting hundreds of people. Just a bit of nostalgic feeling because there was few people, many pianos but no musicians playing. But has swimming pool, gym, elevators, air-conditioning. The breakfast buffet is excelent, plenty of rice and thai style food, with soft thai songs as background.

There is a beautiful, calm environment. You can meet friendly staff in this hotel .Easy to access their shopping mall. There are 3 banks in their shopping mall. You can exchange money from these banks. There is a attractive pool. You can taste different types of tasty foods. There is a very beautiful outdoor garden. It is a very attractive place for kids.

This is a great hotel. Sure, it's a bit older, but the rooms are big, the service is great and the pool is amazing. We ended up staying a lot longer than we expected. The valid for the money is amazing.

The hotel is old. It has an old-fashioned style, infusing Chiang Mai culture in its design. The place is dimly-lit, which makes it have a "haunted house" feel. The breakfast buffet has limited choices; on some days, there is no meat at all. The hotel staff could be friendlier. The rooms are big though. The mountain view of the rooms redeems this place.

Old but clean hotel. Spacious room. I arrived alone at 5 am in the morning, after waiting for 6 hours, they let me in to my room, although check in time is at 3 pm. But they gave me twin bed room. I had to wait for another 2 hours to get what I have booked. Breakfast so so. Worth the price though.
