Turned up at 7ish and the place was deserted (reception says its open till 8) when I finally got through to someone they seemed pretty annoyed that I had booked and like I had really inconvenienced them. The guy finally showed up and tried to put us in a big dorm instead of a 4 bed because he couldn't be bothered to open up reception to get the other key out. All in all, rude staff and located in a dodgy little back alley. Would not recommend staying here

I really could not recommend this place LESS. Do not stay here!!! As a group, we’ve been backpacking for many years through numerous hostels and are not picky people but this was by far THE WORST hostel we’ve ever stayed at. The general lack of hygiene in the hostel is concerning as everything is extremely old and dirty, the toilets and showers are just sheds with a door on them and I basically had to argue with the staff to give us a key so that we could lock our private room. Even though the staff come in everyday with their own key to turn the AC off with the remote that they keep and won’t let us turn it on when we’re there in the daytime in 30+ degree heat! The hostel is just a series of rooms with doors behind a gate on the street so it’s really unsafe and anyone could walk in at any time. There is no ventilation in the dark rooms and the AC when it’s on doesn’t even help. The beds themselves were filthy and the most uncomfortable beds we’ve ever slept on- I woke up with back aches everyday and I sat on the floor instead of the bed because of how hard and worn down it was. I complained tot he staff about this that I have back problems as it is, she simply handed me a blanket and said to put it on the bed. Horrible experience and not worth it, it wasn’t even that cheap.

Do NOT stay here. Yes it’s cheap but it’s not even worth the £4, it’s dirty and unsafe. We arrived at the hostel at 19:30, no members of staff were there and the hostel looked shut despite the sign saying reception was open until 20:00. We messaged the number on reception and were told someone would come to check us in. Someone did come and checked us in but appeared pretty annoyed that we’d booked a room. He put us in the 6 bed dorm, I told him we had booked a 4 bed and he said it was the same and didn’t matter, I explained that it did matter as I had paid for and had chosen 4 bed for a reason, he continued to say it didn’t matter and if I wanted a 4 bed he would have to open the 4 bed room. I explained again that I had chosen a 4 bed for a reason and he reluctantly showed us to the 4 bed dorm which was empty, so he was just trying to put us in the worse room so he didn’t have to use the 4 bed room. If you don’t want anyone staying in your 4 bed dorm maybe take it off Hostelworld? If you are considering booking this hostel please don’t as the staff really don’t seem to like it when they get customers and you will be greatly inconveniencing them. While checking in the member of staff was unbelievably rude and actually told us to hurry up as he wanted to go to the night market (again- this was within the reception opening hours). He was in such a rush he did not even show us where the toilet/shower was and didn’t tell us the WiFi password etc. The rooms don’t lock and nor do the “lockers” in the rooms. The rooms do lock from the inside so if another person in your dorm decides to lock it and falls asleep you won’t be able to get in, the staff are barely there and when they are they’re unhelpful and rude so they won’t be helping you get back in. There are the flimsiest lockers next to the showers so everyone can see exactly what you put in there and could easily just pick up a row of 4 lockers and take the whole thing away, I looked in a few of them and they all had dirty underwear in them. I ended up carrying my laptop around with me as it felt safer wandering the streets of Chiang Mai with it than it did to leave it in this horrible place. No curtains around beds, plug sockets hanging off the wall next to the bed. Showers and toilets are dirty and disgusting. I have no idea how this place has any positive reviews but they’re only screwing over future travellers - do NOT stay here. When I reviewed on another website the owner said “shut up your mouth” and called us “bad customers” and a “poor couple”. Showing exactly how bad the customer service is. Good luck in the tourist industry with people skills like this. *edit- if you want to know what the people who run this hostel are really like just read their replies to their bad reviews, the owner is now harassing me by editing his response to my review weeks after I posted it*

Its located in the middle of Chiang Mai, a nice place to stay if you enjoy interacting with different people. Few things should be taken care off, like a proper washroom facility with soaps and shampoos and also I would like to suggest you to provide a washed bedspread and sanitized blanket instead of providing a used one. Other than that, the staffs are wonderful and the location is great.

Such a great place to stay if you are ever in Chiang Mai. The staff are all super friendly and helpful when it comes to recommendations for things to do in and around the city aswell as organising buses to Pai and Chiang Rai. The common area is very chill and they offer free activities throughout the week as well as free water refills which is extremely useful.

Met lots of great people here. Danny is the friendliest host and so helpful. The facilities are basic but all that you need as a traveller. You can’t lock the doors on your dorm but it’s not an issue as there are people around all the time. The location was great also!! Thank you for our stay

Best guesthouse in Chiang mai! Danny, Bishi and Noony are very welcoming and friendly. They organize many activities for day and night. This is a very social guesthouse, as there are always people in the chilling area. There are dorms or private rooms, the bathroom is shared. Location is great as well.

Best place in Chiang Mai. Great atmosphere everyday, every single time. Danny and his staff are friendly and willing to help you with everything you need. I've been there for Loy Kratong/Yi Peng festival and was really amazing. The guys taught us how to make our own lantern from banana trees. Also the location is perfect, nearby the main temples in Old Town and the best pub area (Zoe's). Cody guesthouse is definitely my place in Chiang Mai.

Stayed here for the first time last weekend and wish i had found it sooner. Danny, the owner was amazingly helpful with everything from tours to transport and can book everything for you. The staff make you feel welcome and you will be home straight away. Great location, comfortable beds and good price. What more could you want?

I would not recommend this place to anybody. It's cheap, but i would recommend to pay a little more and stay somewhere else. We stayed for two nights. The toilets aren't clean and most doors you can not look properly. We booked a room with aircon, but the owner kept the remote and didn't want to switch on the aircon, even if it was working. A girl, which was staying in our room asked him for switching it on, so he did switch it on for 30 minutes and then he switched it off again. As it had over 30 degrees, these 30 minutes weren't helping a lot. Also you can't lock the doors to the rooms, so actually anybody can come inside.

If you're a backpacker getting to Chiang Mai don't look anymore, this is your place! Rooms are fine, many showers and toilets to avoid congestion, great common area to chill or have dinner... But the best is the mood and the staff. These guys are great! Helpful and friendly, and you'll probably end up having some fun time with them. I wish my stay wasn't so short but I know I'll be back if I ever come back to Chiang Mai.

👍👍 The best thing about the hostel is the owner and her family. I stay here because I catch a late flight to Chiang Mai, the owner is accommodating with my late check in.
