This place is a tourist trap!! On our last day in Chiang Mai we asked a tuk tuk to take us around. He brought us here under the guise of a museum. There is a very small workshop present yes, but as soon as you come in they figuire out what language you speak will send a person to communicate with you in that language so there’s no reason for you to not buy things. The sales people are leeches, will not leave you alone, if you manage to somehow escape another one will follow you. They will not let you leave until you have bought something. TT driver was in on it as after we came out he asked why we had not bought some of the excessively overpriced jewellery and also he knew what exactly we had bought. Best thing you can do for yourself is not walk in.

I agree with many who called this a tourist trap, which really is! I was approached by a red truck driver saying he would take me around to see some of the local sights, but instead, he drove me straight here and to all of the other places (umbrella, leather, silk factories). As soon as you get there, they communicate in Thai, bring a sales person and take you directly to start pushing for sales. All the employees look like slaves, like they are fake-working on the workshop. The prices are exorbitant! Absolutely ridiculous for Thailand! Then they use the sales pitch that whatever they are charging "they can guarantee that it is a lot cheaper than our home country", like what?? If we are here visiting, why not be fair and honest and charge the price for locals, but now.. it has to be a way to trap tourists! Don't waste your time! And, if any Tuk Tuk or red truck driver offers to take you somewhere, RUN! It's a total SCAM!

This store has a wide variety of jewellery that caters to all tastes. Being overseas tourists, the VAT is able to be claimed back, and I've spoken to friends who have had various levels of success making the claim due to dodgy paperwork. These people completed all the paperwork and even provided written directions on where to go at the airport and exactly what was needed to claim. Having now crossed the border, it worked seamlessly. I would not hesitate to recommend this store.

This is definitely a tourist trap. Don't get me wrong, if your prepared for it, its not an overtly bad experience, just know that going in. You will be greeted at the door by between 5 to 10 women dressed in Geisha like attire and they will escort you inside and pair you with a guide that matches your spoken language. Once paired, you will tour the workshop where they cut and mount raw rocks into jewelry and then you will be escorted into the sales showroom. Very nice stuff, but like I said, high end, so do your research before hand for what your looking for and the associated baht<>(your own home currency) conversion.

We have experienced a bad behaviour from one of your floor manager in the gems shop.We already bought one pair of gem and after sometime we found a beautiful pearl and asked for the rate. That time one of your floor manager talks like suppressing kerala culture and we felt like insult. I don't think that guy is not from thai,Looks like a north indian.Thai people are very humble and polite.

Huge jewellery store, amazing to go just to see the available range on offer. It's like a massive warehouse! Prices seem to be fairly reasonable and I'm sure there's something for almost everyone's budget if you're after jewellery of some kind, whether it's a ring, necklace, pendant or there's also leather goods there, such as handbags and belts, made from crocodile skin.

It was nice to see how all the gems are picked and hand crafted into the handmade settings. When we got to the showroom, Chantal and Chin were so helpful in helping us pick our ruby ring. It is so beautiful and will be perfect for my mother in law. They were so friendly and patient and made us feel comfortable choosing the right ring for us. The quality of items are wonderful too.

Very fascinating to walk through the production room. It was very interesting to see the workers create their products in store. They have a very large show room, and there are price ranges for every budget. As low as a small Jade elephant for $6 American/ 300 Bat. The employees are knowledgeable but as typical salesman, they can be very attentive to your every move, trying to sell you every piece of jewelry they see your eyes light up at. It is kind of expected, but if you are there to only browse, just let them know and I'm sure they will step away. It is definelty an interesting pit stop if you like to admire different styles of jewelry. But back to the production room- that was most intriguing to me! .. I would post pictures but cameras are not allowed :(

Major freaking tourist trap. I was actually scared and wanted to get out of there as fast as possible. My tuk tuk driver brought me here against my will. As I was walking in I was greeted my a woman who forced us into a movie theater and told us to watch a 5 minute movie. 30 seconds in I felt very uncomfortable and walked out. It was a long maze to get out of the building. As I was walking out of the building I saw my tuk tuk driver was receiving money from the same woman who forced us into the movie theater room. I asked him to take us back to our hotel. Instead he took us to a rug store across the street which was even more scary. Avoid this area. Avoid any tuk tuk driver who offers to drive you around the city for $100 THB.

Good place to buy gems if you know how. Not real high pressure to buy. Nice people work there.

Large factory of gems, but it is a bit too tourist oriented: there is a small movie theater, then you pass the actual factory (even not sure if it's still used) and you are immediately guided to the shop.

Very beautiful gemstone sets with a wide variety of choices. The staff will walk you through the process of how the jewelries are made them into the showrooms of the actual completed items where you can buy. A great bargain!

Not the best experience. We had a number of jewelry pieces we were looking to purchase such as diamond earrings, emerald earrings, and peridot earrings. We were visiting from the US and decided to check out Gems Gallery as we’ve heard Thailand has wonderful, affordable gems. Our hotel recommended Gems Gallery and provided transportation. The warehouse was huge so it felt promising that we would find what we were looking for. Gems Gallery only had one .3 carat diamond studs for us to look at when I asked about half carat studs. Apparently they do not carry a lot of diamond products. They also did not have any emerald cut emerald earrings. Additionally, the rates were incredibly overpriced. Similar products were easily half priced in the states. It felt like they were overcharging unaware tourists. Not to mention, the gems themselves were quite small. If you want a dainty pair of earrings, a ring, or necklace they have those. But their selection of large stones was indeed lacking. We left empty handed and will not be recommending this place to any others.
