Wonderful cooking class! Many classes you do not lead now to make the curry paste, so when you go home you are still unable to make the Thai dishes! This one you learn how to make the curry paste! Very fun, professional, and delicious! Thank you!

Never imagined such a pleasant experience. The tour through the market was amazing & coupled with a lot of fun and insights. The cooking course was a good mix out of the actual cooking and break times to eat/drink and ask talk a little

The pandemic has limited travel for many of us but you can still take a trip to Thailand virtually with this wonderful Thai cooking class on Zoom! this was so enjoyable to do with a group of friends. We were given a list of ingredients to prep ahead of time. The class was perfectly paced and included pictures and information on the local culture. And the food was AMAZING!!! Thank you so much Jaru. Highly recommend to all

My wife and I really enjoyed learning how to make authentic Thai food! The class was easy to follow. We also enjoyed learning a little about the culture and food markets in Thailand. We highly recommend this cooking class!

Our last day in ching rai, had a great day with sweet akha girls and enjoyable cooking class. We went to a local market for some tasting of local food, then we shop for the ingredients we are gonna use later. Back to the house, we were welcomed with fruits and house made drinks. Only the first salad is from akha, I like it a lot. We get to make our own curry paste, Tom yum gong soup, Pad Thai and mango sticky rice dessert. All very delicious, we exchange to taste other classmates dish, is funny how we follow the one direction and all came out different. Love it how they make it so easy, clean and fun to learn Thai cooking. Their house decoration is nice too, look around and ask about tables, chairs or accessories. The best part of talking to local people or classmates from other countries, is you get to know many stories.

We had so much fun learning how to make Thai food and Akha food. The food was delicious and it was so easy to learn even for an inexperienced cook like me. I’m ready to show off for friends back home. Highly recommend this class.

We had such a fantastic day with Jaru and her team on our cooking course! We started with a really cool tour of the local market where we got to try lots of different snack foods as well as buying all the food we were going to use on the day. We then took a short ride to the gorgeous house where we would be cooking, and were greeted with refreshments. The course itself was fantastic. We made our own curry paste, and 5 amazing dishes including a traditional Akha tribe starter dip and four courses that yoou choose at the start of the day. Jaru was a fantastic host and tour guide, and was very knowledgeable after studying cookery for five years. We were really happy to be able to support her business and we hope Ahka Kitchen is a success in years to come!

We had a great experience with Jaru, an inspiring young lady of the Akha tribe. We have been to quite a few cooking lessons in Thailand and elsewhere and we loved them all. But Jaru has brought her class to a perfection. Every detail in this event was taken care with so much creativity and talent. The food was rich and tasty but this is similar to all other classes. The difference was in the small details; the beautiful plate arrangement for every dish we cooked, the lovely design and arrangement of the facility, the exceptional generosity in the free of charge beverages (which usually are charged separately), the complimentary Akha cofee we had in the market and so forth. This class was truely orchastreted to perfection. And the most stunning thing is that this perfect set up was put by a 25 years old young lady that only ten years ago has left her home with the Akha tribe to start a 5 years studying in a cooking school. Starting penniless she has built herself with talent and determination. She gained her excellent English by spending hours in the library and talking to herself. Though only 25 years old, her story could be an inspiration to many youngers of of poor origins to what could be achived by by talent and motivation. We are confident that this young talented girl will make a great success and we would love to take her class again if we are ever back to Chiang Rai.

Chef JARUWAN was a great teacher, explaining things before during and after. The Akha dish, Sapi Tong was delicious 😋 Pad Thai was great too. I think I will try the green curry next time.

Other than comfy shoes and a camera, there’s no need to worry about a thing for this class. Whatever menu you choose, you will get flavors that are deep, balanced, uniquely Thai, and craveable. We started the day with a trip to the market where Jaru personalized the experience for us. She probably does this for each group she takes. We got to learn about unique foods and taste along the way. Back in Jaruwan’s kitchen we arrived to find beautifully presented fruit and tea waiting for us. Then the team moved us through prep and cook stations to dining with such ease, it seemed magical. Every time we entered the next room there was a new stunning presentation. Jaru and her talented team make the whole experience fun, easy, and beautiful at every turn. This was an experience that I will continue to enjoy at home when I make these dishes. Highly recommend.

I’ve taken cooking classes before, but this one is a cut above the rest. There was so much finesse in the details, and the 3 Akha girls that work there are absolutely ADORABLE. The Akha dish that you learn to make is so unique and yummy! I thought it was really special because you really aren’t going to learn to make it anywhere else in Thailand. There was SO much food, I was literally stuffed! Jaru bought us Thai coffees this morning during the market tour and then there was a fridge stocked with free drinks, a really appreciated bonus. Our group chose to make Pad See Eww, Tom Yum Goong, Green Curry, and a pumpkin/coconut milk dessert and everything was so delicious! I couldn’t believe how Authentic everything I made tasted.

Jaru is a happy and joyful young lady. She was on time, and brought 6 of us to the market tour. She is professional to answer questions in fluent English, and we learnt a lot of small tips from the market. We cooked 5 courses and we all enjoyed each of them, the group mates we met on that day are so friendly and we shared our cooking and travel experience. This was not a class actually but just like a friend gathering. Jaru is patient to introduce each step for cooking, and she realised my hubby doesn’t eat chicken, she initially suggested him to change to shrimp instead. Places is neat and cozy, her friends helped us to prepared the ingredients and all the utensils. Thank you Jaru for this wonderful experience in Chiang Rai If we have chance to visit Chiang Rai again, we definitely will visit you! See you! :)
