This historical pillar was build year 1263 by King Meng Rai when he founded Chiang Rai. Thank to him that we are here in Chiang Rai today. See photo for better explanations. Is at the North of city. One can slow walk here from city center within 30 minute. Good to relax and photographic. Local see this as a sacred place and offer their respect to King Meng Rai. Next to it is old temple Wat Phrathat Doi Chom Thong. The hight of the pillar id the same body hight of King Meng Rai.

Navel of Chiang Rai Located at Phra That Doi Thong. It is the city pillar of Chiang Rai. If from the Phra That Walk up the hill and you will reach the navel of Chiang Rai city. Anyone who wants a stable life, a stable job, wishes for good fortune, don't forget to come and pay homage to the navel of Chiang Rai city here.

The place has historic importance, but it has nothing to see that is unique or different from other places. No view either.

Visit 4th April 2019 - Unusual City Pillar Shrine as its open and just a flattened dome. Very close to Wat Phrathat Doi Chom Thong.

There is nothing wrong with it. Its a nice walk to the top of a hill. There are lots of big pillars that will make sense to someone but not me. We walked back via a small village which was fun

This is really important history landmark. You can spend 5 minutes here to claim that you had set foot in the birth place of Chiang Rai. The Stupa here is older than the city. It is more than 1,000 years old while the city was established here around 750 years ago. The city pillar was built just 30 years ago but location is accurate.

Nothing special. On the top of the hill in the city but walk there takes you trough some rough neibourhood. Wanted to go to the big park bellow it but it is military golf course bot open for public.
