This is a world class site. Even if you are not Buddhist, you will learn a lot. Especially if guided by the monk at the place, it will be your lifetime experience. . There were various activities to do if you bring groups of people both religious activities, environment-concern activities, and local activities.

This place is a hidden jem for a quiet walk in an absolute peaceful surroundings. There are a few garden areas where you can take a stroll and have a tranquil moment to yourself. The place is provided for not only meditation but also the organic farming centre. The head of the temple/centre is the revere W. Wachirametee: one of the most popular modern monks who leads and teaches Buddhism that fits modern age. There are a few more facilities for visitors such as coffee shop, souvenirs shop, car parking space, very clean toilets and Wi-Fi.

There is an all organic market with food and goods from the local farmers every Saturday and Sunday. A great place to come to meditate. Take a walk and enjoy some Northern food (so delicious)! Peaceful place for meditation too 😋

The Vipassana International Meditation Center, Rai Choen Tawan, was founded by V. Vajiramedhi, also known as Phra Maha Wuthichai, on January 29, 2552. Its purpose is to serve as the "center for spreading Buddhist teachings to the global community" (International Meditation Center). Located at 217 Ban Mai San Pa Hiang, Huai Sak, Mueang, Chiang Rai, on an expansive 170-acre site, it is bordered by rice fields to the north, Huai Sak reservoir to the south, and the community road to the west. In addition to being a hub for spreading Buddhist teachings, the Vipassana International Meditation Center, Rai Choen Tawan, is also the location of the Alternative Education Development Institute for Buddhist Economics at the University of Buddhist Economics. The name "Rai Choen Tawan" translates to "Inviting the Sun," symbolizing inviting enlightenment to guide life. The sun is analogous to wisdom, dispelling darkness. When wisdom manifests in the heart of an individual, ignorance dissipates. Thus, Rai Choen Tawan serves as a spiritual training ground to transcend the dark realms of life and attain a state of "enlightenment like the sun." As Phra Maha Wuthichai wrote in his poetry: "Inviting the sun, a rainbow spreads, radiance Inviting the art of science and poetry, the sky turns colorful Inviting the jewel of nature, a single drop of water Inviting the Buddha's teachings, a fragrant heart blossoms" Within the Vipassana International Meditation Center, Rai Choen Tawan, there are sections for visitors to explore, each designed to provoke thought and serve as a guide for life. These include the V. Vajiramedhi Art Gallery, the Genius Monk Steel Super Hero, and the Buddhist Metropolis. Visitors can stroll through each area, reveling in the beauty of nature and finding spiritual fulfillment.

Lovely peaceful grounds of several hundred Rai located in a valley basin with a lake. It encompasses several pavilions where people can walk around leisurely and also stay to practice meditation retreats.

Beautiful landscape gardening and very interesting architecture. This place is a meditation center for Buddhism . Location was not far from Chiang Rai city center and easy to find they have clear sign all the way. Don’t missed Art museum of famous artists of Chiang Rai province and nearby free admission when I visit, Nice and relax atmosphere here highly recommended .

Sites and attractions are what this peaceful center is warmly offering to its visitors. These include a Zen garden, koi pond, wisteria tunnel, cozy cafe, local wisdom, an art gallery, etc. Generally, it is not crowded on weekdays unless there are events. Beware of lovely huskies :)

Open your eyes with wisdom for the globalization at Cherntawan International Meditation Center ,Chiang Rai Cherntawan International Meditation Center is located in Na Ban Mai Sun Pa Ngae, Tambon Huai Sak, Amphur Mueang, Chiang Rai.It was founded by Phramedhivajirodom or by his pseudonym Venerable V.Vajiramedhi;sophist, writer, preacher ,social developer, a well-respected Thai Buddhist monk from Thailand on January 29,2009 with the goal of “ the place of propagation of Buddhism to our World Community”. Driving a car is a must at least 2-3 hours from city center to the meditation center. Appointment is required to meet Venerable V.Vajiramedhi since he and his assistant have to travel a lot for dissemination of Buddhism. The original area of Cherntawan International Meditation Center was a corn field, longan plantation, santol plantation. While a former owner had donated his plantation to Venerable V.Vajiramedhi to be a place to propagate of Buddhist morality. The Venerable V.Vajiramedhi would like to remember for a patronage of the owner; who was full of charitable faith , and keep the word “Rai(plantation)” in the name of Dhamma. While the word “Cherntawan” is a name that has been inspired when Venerable V.Vajiramedhi practiced a walking meditation in the midst of refreshing, cool nature and the rising sun over the mountain in the eastern. During in that beautiful moment it was , the word “Cherntawan” had occurred in a peaceful mind, full of an ecstasy and joyful. The term “Cherntawan” means wheel in Dhamma, which is like the sunrise to light in a heart. Inevitably getting rid of the darkness, as the Dhamma arose in the heart would remove the darkness of greed, anger and delusion. When importing the word "Rai(plantation)" and the word "Cherntawan" together, it means "the place of Dhamma practice to bring light to the heart”. Cherntawan International Center decoration is Thai Lana Contemporary style with the charm of wood tone as not like traditional Thai temple styles. Cherntawan International Center has a four significant feature as firstly “Support and Promote Education” by applying Buddhism principles ,secondly “Propagate in Buddhism” by applying Buddhist Morality , thirdly “ Unite in Social Development” by Applying Buddhism for leaders to solve social problems, and fourthly “Creating Values of Peace” by instructing meditation to both Thai and foreigners. With Venerable V.Vajiramedhi teaching of Applied Dhamma and practicing of the breathing mindfulness mediation, also learn to be present and enjoy the moment.

I was the only one there except for one staff member at the Coffee shop. Not sure if on weekdays there is supposed to be nobody there but I came to the place on a Tuesday by taxi and since the taxi left when it dropped me off I had some real difficulties getting back to Chiang Rai because this place is quite off the main road. The location itself looks nice however it seemed they are under construction and many things looked damaged, really not sure if I just came at the wrong day/time/season...
