On the one hand it is a place you should visit, on the other hand it gives me a feeling of kind of visiting a zoo with human inhabitants. It produces a split feeling about this place. A beautiful scenery but I do not want to judge about the culture of the Karen people who originally came from Burma as refugees.

I wouldn’t go so far to say that this is a zoo. But it certainly is not an authentic village experience. This exists to show you their way of life and help them sell their goods to you. I can only hope they get to keep all the profit from these sales. I would not go again, but I also don’t think things are as bad as people are making them out to be.

According to our Thai guide, the "long neck Karen" are not really Karen, but Padaungh. Anyway, the women of this tribe are well known for wearing brass coils that are placed around the neck appearing to lengthen it. It is said that the practice has gained popularity in recent years because it draws tourists who bring revenue to the tribe ... I'm not sure how to feel about that, but it is said that this practice does not harm their health.

Entrance fee Baht 300. Contribution to the Union. The tribe people we're very friendly and was happy to pose for photographs, however the cashier collecting entrance fee was unhelpful and unfriendly. It's a must visit if you go to Changrai, cause it's such a unique ancient culture that is still in existence today. In China, women used to bound their feet but that's only seen in history. They make and sell handicraft there. We shared some snacks with their children and they were very appreciative. End of year is wet season so do remember to bring your umbrella.

Long neck and other cultures can be seen here, you can also buy souvenirs at great prices. Very friendly welcome with dance and music show. You can see rubber forrests, pinneaple plantation, animal farming, and locals are crafting some of the souvenirs, recently reopened. There is water, juices and snacks available but didn't see any food. Quick drive from the city well reachable with scooter. Is around a 40 minutes walk through the park but we somehow were there 3 hours.

Admission is not free 600 per person as of June 2022. Great to see other culture and a understanding of those cultures. Not many residents there atm due to migration to Myanmar.

Not original at all. It’s named to feel like it’s local. But when going in, everybody just wanna sell stuffs and it made me feel uncomfortable.

Authentic Hill tribe villages. There are 4 of them including the Long Neck Village. Entrance is 300 baht and you don't get a guide or a ticket, just a map but you can easily go around. Avoid middle of the day because it can get very hot.

An awful place to go too. Instead of experiencing their life, what visitor are put through is rows and rows of shop with everyone selling the exact same stuff (a food for thought for visitors, who exactly benefits from selling this mass produced items to every single long neck there? with the promise that they will earn a margin from its sales). With everyone clamouring you to purchase their items or watch their performance to earn some money. I sincerely hope that the entrance fee that is paid to the union is put to good use.

Theres no one in the village but merchants trying to sell souvenirs to tourists. I know covid hits hard but I could see nothing but chickens and ladies calling us off to buy traditional clothes.

We had to go. I could not bring myself to take photographs. The women are beautiful, but in reality they are in chains. The heavy coils put around the necks of young children (girls) are right out of the dark ages. Supposedly a method of protecting the women from being captured by other tribes and taken as slaves. I'd buy that if it was 1700. But it's not. This is 2018 and time to put the past to rest.

Not sure how i felt about a visit here. On the one hand these people are trapped and this is the way they make money to survive on the other it felt like a zoo with humans who self harm to earn money.. People appeared to live there and the people were lovely. I have two recomendations buy the items they sell so they get some money and travel independantly its better to see not part of a group even though it feels like your intruding as your interations with the people will be more human.
