A fantastic museum that tells the story of opium. But the most amazing thing was that I had the whole museum to myself, because of Covid 19. I only saw two other visitors in the few hours I was there. There is also a small souvenir shop where you can buy refreshments, and yes... souvenirs, but no... you can't buy opium in the museum shop :)

A very interesting museum which goes over the history of opium over the years. It wasn’t very busy when we came, which admittedly is a bit sad because it’s clear a lot of work went into this place. I would definitely recommend coming to see this place.

Although being a rather older kind of museum I think it is worth visiting in order to better understand the story around OPIUM

Entry fee reduced to 120 Baht for foreigners. Amazing collection and history about Opium. The halls are designed to be (semi-)interactive and the explanation is very detailed and thorough. China and Thai government collaborated on creating some visual knowledge. Overall very interesting place to visit.

Although we are not museum-people, we decided to try this one for its topic - and it was really great! Could spend long hours there. It's modern, it's interesting and staff was great too. Price 200 THB / person. Definitely can recommend.

A very sober, thorough presentation of the history of opium - multimedia walkthrough takes about 2 hours. Fantastic experience. A must visit if you’re in the region.

A bit old museum but still great and impressive. Lots of reading material, a bit too much for me You can enter until 15:30 but stay in until 16:30. We had a hour and a half because of the closing times and it felt a little bit rushed- make sure to have more time then that.

We traveled to Thailand many times, but we didn’t know much about the Hall of Opium until some local people introduced us to this place. Incredible story about Opium war, opening our eyes about Chinese and British. We enjoyed the exhibition very much and recommend to everyone should come see it.

Like many other reviews state, this place is really pretty amazing. The history of how it came to be and the activism of the queen at the time is a beautiful story too. We usually rush through museums or skip them all together but we spent almost 2 hours there which for us is a lot. Was very weird with no one there in COVID times. Had the whole theater to ourselves. We also stayed the adjoining lodge which despite its varying reviews, we adored! And we got a discount because we stayed.

An interesting museum about the history of opium and the drug trade. It is enlightening about how opium shaped the European trade with asia, principally China with the opium wars. The golden triangle's importance is more recent, the last 70 years per the museum.

I'm so happy to see my grandfather's photo here again 😸 it could be hardly found on the internet after the king's change. Nobody acknowledging workman in Thailand anymore.

One of the best museums I've seen in Thailand. The exhibition is very well-displayed and explained. Very detailed information on all aspects of opium.

Excellent museum, telling the story of worldwide trade from the early ages, through to opium addition today. Worth the 200 baht admission.

Wonderful museum, one of the best museums I visited. Very impressive to see what an impact opium can have on a country. I didn’t knew anything of the impact it had on Asia. I found the museum very interactive as it wasn’t just painting with text. The video’s made everything very understandable and it kept you interested. If you’re in the area i would definitely recommend going to this museum.

A very well designed and well informed museum on the history of opium. I wish I had more time to visit as one could spend up to a few hours wandering this place without feeling bored. Beside that, the scenery outside is just amazing. Definitely recommend.

This place is a total fraud. They call themselves "Hall of Opium", but they had no opium there for us to smoke so we completely missed the experience. Avoid!

Interesting museum, if a little quirky. Enter through an undulating tunnel with atmospheric music and Dante-style sculptures on the wall. After a short video you enter three floors of interesting displays, describing the history of Opium (and even how to prepare it !) To Exit - find the elevator at the back of the building (past the toilets) and go up to Floor 3.....we had no idea and got lost...

Really interesting place, well worth the visit, in my opinion. Easy to follow the history and reasons for opium production and its dark side with terrible consequences for so nany people.

👍👍 This is spectacular. Besides the breath-taking view across the Mekong to Laos, the experience of being on a glass shelf jutting out from the mountain is sensational. But it’s also funny to witness the fear many people feel when they can see the floor of the forest 500 feet below them. This is defin...
