Not really a spectacular waterfall, even by Thai standards, but more a place to visit for interesting pools below the falls, where you can relax and enjoy the views. Locals love to come here and picnic and play in the pools. Be careful if you climb the rocks near the waterfall - they are smooth and slippery! There is an interesting trail which starts from the waterfall area. Huay Kaew Waterfall is easily found on the edge of town, where the road up to Doi Suthep starts.

I started my trek from the Pha Ngoep trail. Considering the heat and humidity early in the morning, it was quiet difficult getting to this waterfall! Once I finally made it, I realized there was actually a route off the other end that led straight into the waterfall off the main road. Regardless, a beautiful site and well worth the hike.

Beautiful waterfall and nice area to have a picnic. Would be nice if you could swim in the water but signs say no swimming

This is a beautiful waterfall here in Chiang Mai. Disclaimer: Do not wear flip-flops or slides. The rocks are so slippery. The signs are correct. Watched an older gentleman wall in and had to pull him out. Just don't put yourself in danger or anyone else. The rocks and logs will break you into pieces. Don't be hard-headed. Take off your shoes and walk up to get your Instagram or Tik-Tok videos. Also, wear sunscreen. It's hot, and the shade is only in certain areas. They have places to buy all kinds of beverages and drinks and snacks. This is not the place to drink or you will get hur. iJS

Spectacular!! Free entry and parking. There is signage around the area leading to the waterfall. Easy enough access to the waterfall though not wheelchair or stroller accessible past a certain point. For a while we had the whole place to ourselves which was magical. Good flow of water today (august 10), I imagine it’s best to visit during rainy season with the most flow. You can climb up rocks to get closer to the waterfall but be very careful! The rocks are slippery, especially when wet. Quiet and few people around besides locals having picnics and a tourist every now and then. A must visit while in chiang mai considering how easy it is to get here! We were able to take a grab there and a grab back. No issues finding a grab from the main road outside the waterfall other than a short wait for them to get there.

Quick hike between Doi Inthanon National Park and the city. The waterfall is directly by the entrance, but semi-paved trails will take you to the top of the cliff for great city views. It seemed like all the locals were picnicking at various parts of the trails, and some cool snacks would have made the afternoon better.

This is a small waterfall with no entrance fee. There's a small stream and a few rocks so its perfect for little kids. We went on a weekday so there was no other tourist at all. Don't need to walk too much at all to get to spot. 30 minutes from town so we rented a car there before going to other attractions. there's a picnic mat that can be rented at the entrance but we missed the sign. There's a paid toilet to wash up and change. Parking is limited but still was available for us.

Short but sometimes steep hike up to the pond. Wear proper shoes. Picnic and relaxing. Take a tuk-tuk or a red taxi-bus to the entrance. Or walk past the university and Zoo. Free entrance. Hike up and down plus a break at the top is 1 hour total.

The waterfall was refreshing to jump in! Keep walking upstream for fresh water pools. Make sure to wear proper footwear as the path isn’t well defined. You might have to climb with your hands and feet in only some parts but it is well worth the effort! It is a very local location as we didn’t see other tourists. We spent a few hours in the morning as it was a relatively smaller waterfall -definitely not a big excursion from town. It perfectly complemented our half-day afternoon tour at the Kanta Elephant Sanctuary, which was definitely a highlight of the trip.

Waterfall easily assessible from carpark, within 1min walk. Waterfall easily assessible, able to go into water easily. Certain areas shallow and safe to enter.

This waterfall is very nice but what we found most enjoyable was that it’s a very family/children friendly place with many locals enjoying swimming, eating lunch, and children playing as well as the usual tourists. I would love to see it in a very rainy time but we would not have been able to walk around in the stream then.

A good place to walk with friends and family. You can see a beautiful view of whole city in the almost top of mountain. But prepared with some mosquito repellent spray or lotion. I had may bites on my legs and arms

The waterfall is nice and I originally would have rated 4 stars. But recently, bacteria e. coli was found in the river, getting people sick from bathing in, showing that the water is indeed polluted from human waste. This is a scenic place to take some great shots and without access fee. So it is overall very pleasant. There is a bit of littering here and there to be picked up but no garbage piling up. Good for very short hikes, with few narrow sections. It is forbidden to climb too much up the waterfall since the rocks are very slippery, so I would respect the warning signs.

I really Liked this waterfall. Not to far from Chiang Mai and nice cold water to cool down. Its a little bit croweded as locals and Tourist come Here, bc its Close to the City. Still there is enough space (Up and downwards the River) and If you Just wanna relax from the City Hustle, it is the right place to Go. No entry Fee for this waterfall

Instagram: sportlife.travels Don't expect anything too spectacular but if you appreciate nature in any size or form this is a nice and clean waterfall to visit. It was not too busy. Be careful climbing up as some pieces can be very slippery. There are also some food and drink stalls at the entrance which is really nice. The waterfall is free to visit.

If you are in Chiang Mai and looking for a place to chill this is it. Locals use to (and still do) come here as a place to relax by the water. Parking can be found very nearby and entry to the waterfall is free. As well as exploring around the lower tier of the waterfall you can also trek further up although this is demanding and safety should be a priority.

A very peaceful place to go alone or with your friends and family. There is no fees for entrance. The place is very serene and peaceful... Evenings are the best time to visit..

This is my second time coming to this waterfall and I absolutely loved it! There were quit a few people here enjoying the water and the scenery. There is a trail to follow that will take you around the area. I'd definitely wear secure shoes as the path is rocky and is kind of like a hiking trail. Some parts are slippery so be careful! There is parking right at the entrance and a ton of stalls if you get hungry or want to buy something.

Well, as long as it keeps being for free, it's worth a visit. It's very near to the main road and it's a pleasant place to spend a couple off minutes, have a breakfast or something. I brought apples with me and there wasn't no one but me and my wife. So, we spent like 30 minutes just resting, eating and listen to the waterfall. But that's it. There is nothing that I would say is a must here.

Beautiful multi-level falls. Lower levels are suited to people of all ages, easily accessible for young children, and shallow pools for paddling. Climbing further up the tracks gives options for the more adventurous to do some jumping and swimming. Some albeit limited parking at the entrance to,the falls with numerous food vendors around the edge of the car park. Be sure to get a drink before you go up the falls as no options for refreshment once you start the climb.

Looking for a picturesque picnic spot in Chiang Mai? Look no further than Huay Kaew Waterfall. Nestled in the Doi Suthep-Pui National Park, this stunning waterfall is a refreshing escape from the city heat. The lush forest surroundings and multiple tiers of cascading waterfalls create the perfect backdrop for a relaxing picnic with friends or family. But that's not all - you can also take a dip in the crystal-clear pools at the base of the falls. It's the perfect way to cool off on a hot day and enjoy the natural beauty of northern Thailand. So pack a picnic, bring your swimsuit, and prepare to be enchanted by the beauty of Huay Kaew Waterfall.

Nice hike through the jungle, the waterfall is cool but not that interesting. If you come then definitely do the hike that goes up and around the falls. It's an easy trail but if it rains then be careful because it's extremely slippery. Don't leave your garbage along the trail.

A friend who lives locally brought me here for a short hike and to enjoy the small waterfalls and pools of water. A lot of local Thais do the same and joined us throughout. It was a nice way to cool off. It's very hot, so bring a bottle of water. It was low season, so I am guessing this flows a lot more after the rains.
