Be sure to reserve your 'spot' several months in advance if your going in the summertime. The outside loop campsites are more picturesque and quiet, but may have more natural raccoons to greet you. Interior sites in the loops are closer to the showerhouse and restrooms and closer together. There is a big camp sink outside the shower facilities to do any big dishes or hand wash a few things if needed. Just a few minutes walk is a gas station that sells ice, icecream, slushies pop etc, and camp necessities are at a premium. There is a walking trail off one of the loops and a longer walk to the Lake View beach area in Beverly Shores which has picnic tables looking over Lake MI. You may need to pay an entrance fee if workers are there, but not always. If you forget stuff, Doller General is a few minutes away. If you need to get back to 'civilization,' Michigan City is nearby for daytripping: Lighthouse Outlet Mall, Michigan City Zoo, lots of fast food, grocery stores etc. We come here for staycations and love the campground!

Clean campground with fairly spread out campsites. Close to the State Park and the National Park. Dunewood Campground is near train tracks and you will hear frequent loud train horns. Moderate highway noise.

Very clean and spacious but if you are looking for a quiet nights sleep you won’t get it. The trains and being next to a major highway made a lot of noise. Bathroom was clean with showers and a kitchen sink.

We loved our one night stay during the memorial day weekend! We would have loved to stay more but it's hard to get a reservation just one month in advance for any national park. Advice will be to book well in advance, preferably as soon as reservations open 6-7 months before your travel date. The restroom was clean, the showers were good. The campground allows pet dogs. Campground is close to the Lake View Beach πŸ–οΈ

We really like the campground. Each campsite is very nice and roomy and the bathrooms/showers are very nice. The only thing is the mosquito problem. They were terrible last year, but this year...they were even worse!! We bought all the deet, wore long sleeves and pants and my son and husband literally had hundreds of bites all over their bodies and faces. I think we'll stay in a hotel next year.

This is one of the government campgrounds. I am in 15M which is a handicap spot. It is very close to the showers and restrooms with a paved path to it . The showers have nice hot water. There's even a handicap shower and the normal handicap tolet. I didn't notice many bugs. This campground is in Dunes national park in Wisconsin close to Chicago. RESERVE a spot online it's basically the only way. 25.00 for a campsite and 12.50 for a ACCESS card.

Camp hosts are super friendly and accommodating. A fair amount of ticks so make sure to check yourself. Showers are AMAZING. Small outdoor sinks hot water wasn't working but it's not that big of a deal. PS. You don't have to pay for these showers.

very nice camp sites; very wooded. sites spaced far apart. very nice clean shower/bath house. I was here mid october and practically had the place to my self. the lake shore is a mile away by car. lots of trails for exploring and bike riding. Pretty close with easy access to I-80 (but not so close you hear any highway noise)

Great camping spots! The bathrooms were clean and they had many places to fill water jugs (which as I write that must be super important to me πŸ˜‚πŸ˜‚). The last time we were there it was a state park, so check in was different but we figured it out.

We had a couple of great nights here, would highly recommend Dunewood for easy and comfortable camping. Bathrooms, water, and trash available. Plenty of hiking trails and dunes and very dog friendly. The only down side is that it’s usually booked full despite empty sites. it would be nice if they had a β€œcheck in” system so that campsites would become available online again if people don’t check in online by 4 or 5 pm the day of their reservation.

Nice campground. Quiet on a Sunday-Tuesday trip. Cleanest, most modern bathrooms I've seen at a campsite. Will definetly be back. Mather 21 spot was a good location, but all spots I saw in Mather were good looking.

We loved the hot showers when it got cold at night. Even saw a couple women warming up under the hand dryers. Very welcoming campsite host and fund group of campers. We got the site right by the restroom and it wasn’t much of a foot traffic issue. Wish all campsites were this amazing!

Only wish I would have stayed longer! The whole campground is clean and well kept, including the bathrooms! Couldn’t get warm water in the showers, but that is my only complaint. Very close to a cool train station that runs straight into Chicago. I was able to easily walk/bike to the beach from the campsite. You can easily get to anywhere in the parks from here.

Beautiful spacious campsite. Hosts were present and friendly. Perfect location for a weekend getaway close to Lake Michigan. Loved our campsite!

No Electric but sites are treed and well spaced close have nice area we’re you could set up tent and picnic table. Need transportation to see any sites go to dunes etc. The park is broken up quite a bit. It is about a mile walk to the beach which has a back drop of a power plant and state park beach is much nicer

Nicely spaced out, close parking and bathroom for tent sites, woke up to a beautiful forest! Definitely check out the Great Marsh and the Dunes.

Beautiful and feels remote. Even the camper spots feel more like camping in the woods with a bathroom nearby.

😐 Very nice owners, quiet and clean place with a good amount of mature trees for shade. The bathrooms were clean but the floors held water, not the owners fault, and one hand dryer didn't work. The pool was not open for use and the playground was a few swings and a seesaw. They did have a basketball c...

πŸ‘ Can't beat the location. Wish the sites had water and sewer and it would be a perfect campground. But we were grateful for at least the 50amp power so we could run both ACs since it was hot and humid. We used the dump station on the way out. Paid $35 per night for 2 nights here. Check-in is pretty...
