Our son needed to be hospitalized and it was determined that a residential program was necessary. The social worker met with us, as his parents, for :30 for the first week. She didn't have a comprehensive picture of what was going on. So much so that our son's therapist had to insert herself. The staff didn't reach out to his psychiatrist at all or his therapist until he had been in the hospital for 2 weeks. It was extremely troubling. Our insurance company contacted the hospital to receive approval from the facility and nobody contacted them and it forced it into an appeal. They had plenty of time to respond. The billing department was contacting me while the staff was not responding to the insurance company. UNACCEPTABLE.

The facility's approach to patient placement is a cause for concern, as patients with varying mental health conditions are not appropriately separated. It is disheartening to see critically ill individuals who require hospitalization and care being housed alongside others who are highly aggressive. It raises the question of whether the hospital's director is aware of this issue and its potential consequences. The hospital environment is not conducive to recovery, and the cold temperature only adds to the patients' discomfort. The patients are not treated with the care and compassion that they require, and the atmosphere seems more like one of mental torture than of healing. The therapies provided to patients only seem to exacerbate their issues and instill fear and trauma, which is detrimental to their recovery. Patients who require assistance and treatment should receive it promptly and with utmost care. Instead, they are often left to languish in their rooms or hallways, waiting for time to pass. The facility's freezing temperature does nothing to aid their recovery and only compounds their difficulties. In conclusion, this hospital does not meet the needs of patients who require help with their mental health. The facility's patient placement policies and the treatment provided to patients require a complete overhaul. It is not a place that should be open, as it does not offer the necessary treatment and care to help patients recover.

During my month and a half stay at the military unit of this behavioral hospital, I found that only a limited number of technicians made an effort to enhance the patients' experience. My personal opinion is that some of the employees should not work in a military unit setting. Specifically, I observed that Davion, Teressa, and McKenzie were immature in their approach to their job and interaction with the patients. Furthermore, the cafeteria staff was often impolite and impatient. Given the situation of patients in the military unit, I believe that they deserve greater kindness and respect. However, I found that the management targeted the military unit with hostile behavior and immaturity. They treated the patients as if they owned them, which was disrespectful. Overall, I think that this hospital should be considered a last resort for any civilian. I believe that the mistreatment of patients in the military unit and the lack of effort from the staff to improve their experience makes this hospital a less than ideal option.

very bad service. so unorganized. just to call my relative, they had me on hold for 30 minutes and all patients only get an hour to talk on the phone. one of the member staff, Daisy, lied about everything and how it would be in there. it was the total opposite. not to mention, my relative only went to get professional therapy and they tried to keep her more than a 5 day stay. they lied about being able to see her. the staff is rude and helpless. just not worth going here, i definitely recommend going somewhere else.

I spent 10 days watching them inject shots to people they did NOT want to take care of!!! They offer no mental health programs. You spend most of your time in lockdown in your room also because they do not want to spend time with you. I refused medication because one night the pill was one color the next it was different and they wanted me to take an additional pill, communication is poor. Don’t ask for a Bible you will never get one. You have to strip your own bed day of discharge and the billing department jumps on you before you get to walk out the door. Worst Mental Health Facility never send a loved one there

This place was definitely the worst hospital I've ever been in. I stayed here for about 9 days, and I suffered immensely the whole time until I was finally discharged. The food is so bad that it's almost not edible, the staff discourages you from signing a 5 day discharge notice so they can keep you at the place longer just so they can get more money outta you, groups were poorly run and very unhelpful, the place itself is run down and located in a bad part of town, and there were other patients there during my stay that were way more mentally unstable than me, making me feel uncomfortable and unsafe. Almost every night I would have a hard time sleeping because I would always hear other patients screaming. The psychiatrist also took me off my Trazodone without my consent, which I desperately needed due to my insomnia. More of my medications were changed, and I mentally went through hell. I was experiencing hallucinations and panic attacks constantly, and none of the staff seemed to care at all. I cried every night I stayed there, begging to leave. I honestly wish I can give this place zero stars. If you ever need to be psychiatrically hospitalized in the future, avoid this place at all costs unless you wanna suffer greatly.

Zero stars would be best reviewed for this dump. Any "patient" requires an advocate to speak for them because once you're in they won't treat you like a human. 4 minute phone limit times and 2 days a week visitation when they're keeping you for 2 weeks is not enough. Support should be welcomed in. All my husband asked for was an indiividual therapy session and they couldn't manage to set that up in his 15 day stay. And then they make his treatment plan and we talk and cound down the days to his discharge and make arrangements only to find out it will be the next day. Unprofessional, heartless, not a care given by the ones with a degree in there and social hours for the rest of the staff/wardens. When i call on his behalf i was hung up on and they refused to listen to my requests to speak to him. This place is so run down it's 98° outside and they have little portable air conditioners in a run down building everyone is sweating and it's just pointless to go there. Not a single soul carea at all. So don't trust them with your loved ones.

I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone. Lots of physical violence within the unit; I never felt safe. The nurses and technicians don't have a handle on anything that is supposed to go on, and there isn't any sort of intervention services other than holding people down against their will and injecting them with unknown medications. Terrible, terrible place to be. I honestly don't know how their doors are still open. UPDATE: They don't respond to the email they provided to address the concern. I wish I could give this place zero stars.

This is a for-profit hospital that runs like they don’t care about your mental health, because you’re just another check for them. Wish I could give this place 0 stars. If you or a loved one are going through a mental health crisis and need help, this place will make their crisis worst. They treat patients like prisoners. If the technicians feel like it, they’ll limit your phone time with loved ones to just 10 minutes a day. Technicians have the ability to provide fresh fruit to the inpatients on their floor, but some are too lazy to even do that. And you get two 15 minute outdoor breaks a day if you’re lucky. But some days, if the technicians don’t feel like taking inpatients outside, then you don’t get to go outside that day. And the “outdoor space” is a tiny concrete square the size of a tiny apartment living room that’s too small for people to run or walk or get any meaningful exercise in for the day. Physical health is a part of mental health, yet this place thinks it can just pump people full of drugs, keep them in the same 2-3 rooms a day, have doctors check in on them for 2 minutes a day and think that’ll solve all the issues they came in there with. I would call this place a joke but there’s nothing funny about the way they treat human beings in this place…it’s just sad

If I could give a hospital negative stars this would be the one! Didn’t give a patient medication at night OR in the morning. Caused him to have a seizure and get sent to the hospital. DONT SEND YOUR KIDS/ LOVED ONES HERE. most of the staff is in training anyway. This facility is not only a joke but an embarrassment.

I came from 3 hours away to receive treatment for PTSD. I received none. The Dr wouldn't listen to me. He changed my meds that didn't need to be changed. This hospital is very disorganized and very unprofessional. The Dr was seeing patients in front of other patients which is against hippa regulations. There was a patient that was chemically restrained whom didn't deserve it. The hospital has a lot of improvements to make.

As a member of the United States Navy, I experienced a challenging time during my boot-camp and subsequently required hospitalization. Unfortunately, during my stay at the hospital, I encountered several issues and lacked an avenue to voice my concerns. One of the foremost problems I observed was the mistreatment of sailors by a few of the hospital technicians. It is essential to acknowledge that boot-camp sailors do not view these technicians as their new Recruit Division Commanders (RDCs), and therefore, they should not receive the same treatment as such. Additionally, it is not the technician's fault if a sailor is required to remain in the hospital for an extended period. Still, I did not observe any significant efforts on their part to make the stay more comfortable. The rooms were excessively cold, and the food was not of the expected standard. Despite having access to phone calls, the allotted time of ten minutes was not sufficient for sailors to connect with their families effectively. While I do not discredit the hospital's staff for their efforts, I must highlight that the experience was far from ideal. In conclusion, my experience at this hospital was less than satisfactory. While it may not be entirely negative, it is not a place that I would consider decent by any means. The facility must review its treatment of sailors and make considerable efforts to improve the comfort and amenities available to them.

I work for Williams and Colbert and my client was sent there 2 weeks ago. My staff and I have had so many issues with communicating with staff at this facility. They’re very unprofessional and now they are avoiding setting up discharge plans for my client. The social worker and patient advocate have yet to reach out to me. I would like to make a formal complaint. If they treat other social service personnel like this, I can only imagine how they are treating the patients. Every time we call they Hang up on us or just put us on hold. I plan to let his court monitor know about this and I will be calling the inspector Generals office. This place should be closed down.

I attended to this hospital and it’s horrible , don’t recommend it at all. They make you strip all your clothes off and make you open your butt checks open . It was humiliating, they shower 1 time every 3 days and the food is horrendous. I would cry and they’d put me on time out for doing so

This place is terrible. I was here because I was experiencing paranoia and it made me afraid to be outside of my room, which made it difficult for me to eat. The people were not helpful or accommodating at all and literally let me go days without eating. One of the workers followed me in my room and made me give up my food because I was afraid to be out of the room to eat, hence the reason I went days without eating and they knew this. I had to sneak small amounts of food in my room at this point and this person who did this appeared to be on some power streak and even their coworker who witnessed this asked him why he was doing this to me. The therapist they assigned to me was very rude. I would call her name and she would completely ignore me and act like I wasn’t there but seemed to like to be the center of everything when running the groups. The people here absolutely do not care for the patients. There was one that seemed to but that was it.

STAY. AWAY. I have had two experiences with this hospital- pre covid and 2022. Here is the tldr. I was admitted voluntarily as an inpatient in 2018. Staff was "decent" but for the most part you were treated like an animal- and your therapy was public, Not private. I got through it, and moved on. Fast forward to July 2022, I lost my therapy team and my PCP suggested I try the outpatient program. I had bad luck in 2018 b/c they never accepted me into outpatient due to my ins, but there is new staff. I was fast-tracked into a brand new 4 days a week virtual IOP. It was by the far, the most worst "help" i have ever received. They didn't even let the therapist talk to us individually before they threw me and two other patients into a group, treated it like "School", the "overseeing" physician is like 90 years old and he called me asking why I wanted to talk to him (he called me btw at like 9pm on a weeknight.) They refused to help me make accomodations for my job so i coudl work at the same time. They basically said "we just offer resources but we ccan't help" that's a waste of time if you're a working adult. That's how you treat children. the only thing i can say, the therapist was super nice overall but it was her first gig in the US -- she had no idea how to run a group and she was not supported at all and she was really soft spoken. Soft spoken in therapy leadership is not a good thing. This place has some caring staff but overall- very dysfunctional. Update: I asked for my records to submit myself to my doctor. They misdiagnosed me twice and they have completely inaccurate family and personal histories in both intake interviews. It helped see how bad this place is when they can't be bothered to take proper notes.

This place had me really wondering about patient safety. Take the receptionist for example. This woman was pulling out the metal nose strip on face masks for patients who are upstairs. She had on no mask herself no gloves and was placing the masks on the dirty counter when she was done removing the metal. She probably couldn't wear gloves because she has 3" fake nails. But that's not safe for the patient's who will be wearing them with covid 19.

This was the worse place ever. DONT EVER GO HERE OR SEND A LOVED ONE HERE! they keep you there WAY TOO LONG. I was there a WEEK. A WEEK. I did not need to be in there that long! “To observe you” is the reason why I was there so long. I was ready to leave DAY THREE AND WAS TOLD I COULD NOT. they just wanted to milk my insurance it sounded like. I could go on and on about this place!!! I am never going back if I can help it!

Where do I even start? My stay was pretty miserable for the most part. A lot of the staff was extremely rude and unprofessional. There were a few good ones mixed in for sure, especially in the nurses, not so much in the techs. But there were still a few good techs, too. I was treated with disrespect in multiple situations, even when I first got there. They are not understanding or willing to actually sit and talk to you when you need it, in my experience there. Maybe it was just a stressful time because of understaffing, I don’t know. All I know is, I definitely do not recommend going there for help or sending a loved one there for help. I told them I didn’t feel any different and they didn’t listen and said Well you’re going to groups so you seem alright to us. I do feel like it helped a little, but not as much as I’d hoped for.

My son was hospitalized for 10 days, six months ago. I have been paying a monthly payment on this bill for those six months, yet I have not received a statement or an invoice from the hospital. I have been calling the billing office for two weeks and get no answer. I have left five voicemails and get no return call. I tried to pay the bill online, but this requires an account number. Since they haven’t sent me a statement or a bill with an account number listed, online payments are impossible. I have sent two messages through the website contact us link and also have received no response. The only positive thing that came out of my sons stay at this hospital was that he saw that other teens are going through similar struggles.

My mother was sent here and had a horrible experience. She had doctor Antonio, which is disliked by many of the patients due to her inhumanly behavior toward the patients she “cares” for. Her behavior is extremely unprofessional and authorizes people’s medical doses without their consent, which made one of the people who my mother knew at the hospital almost pass out and another who actually had a seizure due to his doses getting doubled without his consent. This hospital treats their patients horrible, if your loved one gets sent here please find another place and take in count all of these negative reviews because they all speak the truth. This place deserves to get shut down due to all the corrupt lies they tell you and your loved ones about how they will take good care of them, but they end up treating them like animals or some prisoners.

Where to start?? The inpatient unit was horrible. Therapy groups were useless, usually led by untrained mental health techs who half the time just put a patient in charge! One patient who was in a wheelchair couldn't take a shower for almost a week because they didn't have a shower chair for her (even though she was in a "handicapped accessible" room). Another patient started having seizures and rather than take her to the ER or even call a doctor, they just tucked her into bed. My roommate, who's spent some time in jail, told me this hospital has the exact same beds & bathroom fixtures as the Lake County Jail. If you complain, you just get threatened with having your discharge delayed.

Lots of room for improvement here. My daughter was an inpatient in 2018, and doesn't feel it did her any good at all. It's very disorganized and no one seems to have a grip on what's happening there. The new facility is definitely a step up, however, the ladies at the front desk need some customer service training- they don't even acknowledge people standing directly in front of them. Neither were on the phone- they were chatting amongst themselves, and when I asked for help, the blonde woman put up her finger and said "just a minute". I'm glad I don't have to go back again once my business was attended to. I run a Drs office myself, and we wouldn't have return patients if we behaved that way.

Wife has been placed here a couple of times. First time was a fairly good experience, but the second time they released her WAY too early. When I came to take her home she was yelling and screaming at one of the nurses. That wasn't a red flag for them? I understand that some patients are much more difficult than others and sometimes you just want to get rid of them, but knowing that it's a mental health issue and being a mental health hospital they should know better. Shame on them.

Great outpatient therapy, not as intensive but the worksheets are still good sources. Friendly staff. Caring techs on the floors. Not the best food but not the worst. Rooms could be a bit cleaner. If you need a short mental health vacation close to home this is the place. Since this is a short term place to stabilize you, visits with Drs are very brief. The lead Therapist was great most of my questions were answered by her.

DO NOT GO TO / SEND LOVED ONES HERE! from my own experience. self admitted myself to treat a mental illness i thought i may have. horrible intake process, took forever and was almost forgotten about. people who entered the process after me were processed before me and taken upstairs while i waited. Doctors see you for 2 minutes and judge you. Mine even had a nurse with him that laughed at me when i asked a serious question regarding my sleep issues, not to mention she constantly interrupted me. Lunch staff is constantly angry and serve smaller portions if they dislike you. Some of the techs were awesome, some seemed like they hated their jobs. Nurses were hit or miss as well. Only a few people seem passionate about helping the patients. Food was 1/10, slept in a room with another patient that snored too loud for me to sleep (and i have insomnia). Horrible 9 day experience, dont feel any better. BE CAREFUL!!!!

Please do not ever send or allow your loved one to this facility. They should be shut down. I am fighting to get my daughter out of there as we speak. They intimidated her into waving her 5 day by saying the Dr would not approve it and that it would go on a public record?! They are unnecessary prescribing her heavy meds. They are lieing and saying she's refusing to take her meds. They lied and said that my daughter said she was hearing voices she never said that. My daughter said they have to take cold showers because there's no hot water and she's getting bit by bugs they lied and said that's not true even though my daughter said the nurses took pictures of it and had her wash her bedding and her clothing. The communication with the staff is horrible. I am beside myself right now trying to figure out how to get her out of there she was supposed to get out today and they pressured her into waving her 5-day.

I was a patient there approx 3 months ago. No complaints. My dr. At home changed my meds and they are not working. I need to be admitted again as i feel terrible. We called first to see if it was possible to be admltted as we were driving 90 miles one way. We were told that we needed to make an. Appt. As nobody was there to do the intake. I thought this hospital was open 24/7. I will be going tomorrow and i will be sure they know about this. This is ridiculous.

I was here for 18 days and if I'm being honest it sucked. Did it help? kind of. There were certain things that made me feel less of myself. Like the body check, i was really uncomfortable. Certain staff was nice, and certain techs. I'm not really sure how i feel about this place. Would I recomend it. I'm not entirley sure. Its up to you...

So this place is a real piece of work. I for some considerable time. To get an appointment which I was seeing via zoom. Then was told my prescriptions would be sent over to the Walgreens. Which never happened. The funny thing is these people were really fast to charge my insurance company. But really slow about helping anybody. I finally got ahold of somebody at their office. And I was just basically told. To wait untill tomorrow for any kind of answer. And I may be mistaken, but you would think that's psych meds are kind of an important thing to take.on time.

The techs, nurses, security, and cafeteria staff all do the best with the limited resources they have and I believe they are the backbone of this hospital. The psychiatrists, doctors, and social workers drop the ball all the time. And do not expect to meet with a psychologist one on one because their are none on staff. Having said that this place helped me more than my previous stay at the Evanston hospital.

I was in the military unit for about a month and a half, and there are only a handful of techs that actually do their job to make your stay there better. My personal opinion a lot of employees should not work a military unit at all. Davion, Terressa, and McKenzie to name a few. These techs were immature with how they handled their jobs and speaking to the patients. The cafeteria staff is also very rude and impatient as well. I feel for as long as military unit has to remain at the hospital they should be given the least amount of respect and kindness due to our situation. The management is also very hostile towards them targeting the units with threats and immaturity as well. They act like they own you and its disrespectful. I feel this hospital should be a last resort for any civilian due to how they treat patients, the groups do not help and are often recycled and the “freedoms” you have are worse than a prison.

This hospital has helped me with my situation.I voluntarily checked myself in and found ways to cope with my situation. A few technicians were very caring and understood what all of us are going through. The drs that they give you are ok but do not refuse your medications which may make you stay in longer. I stayed for 7- 10 days weekends do not count. If you were to check in on a wednesday that day does not count. Food wasn't great..group sessions were great especially music therapy with Gwen. Overall this hospital has helped me.

Over all I was very pleased with the care I had here. Being 3 hours away from home was challenging but the fact that they provide transportation home was a God-send. Because I had been self injuring and also seizing with no warning I was placed on 1 on 1 status. I was told that meant a staff member had to be within arms reach of me at all times. 2 of the staff were excellent at staying nearby but still giving me the opportunity to stay involved with the other patients and treating me with respect. Because of short staffing one time I had to stay at the staff table and wasn’t allowed to lay down during rest time. The only really bad experience I had was a 1 on 1 that I didn’t even know she was one. Since no one was paying attention to me individually I assumed they had lifted the 1 on 1. When I had a seizure the other patients actually helped me to the floor and called a nurse. When the seizure was over the nurse asked who my one on one was and a woman sitting all the way across the room who never even got up while I was having a grandmal answered that she was. That was pretty upsetting. I had 3 drs, a psychiatrist, a neurologist, and a medical dr. All 3 were excellent. I was discharged to early but I really did let them know I wasn’t feeling ready so that wasn’t their fault. All in all I would come here again if I needed help.

I have had an amazing 8 day stay here. Mike, one of the the techs is awesome always helping out not just the side he’s assigned to but both sides. Mohammad is wonderful, he’s wonderful always vey helpful with all my questions comments and concerns. Ricky is also wonderful and helpful in giving advice and keeping a positive mindset. Actually cares about the patients here. Juan, he is another wonderful tech going above and beyond to help all of us. I have to say my therapist Deena is amazing and hands down if she did any out patient programs I would HIGHLY recommend her as your therapist. Lakes Behavioral Hospital is always going above and beyond to help there patients working doubles and and still continuing to smile =) thank you all for an amazing experience and helping me in my time of need!!!

Yet another facility that only cares about the almighty dollar, and not about human beings, or our safety. I had an appointment for 8am. Got there at 730 to fill out paper work. Wasn't brought back until 845. Sat in a secure waiting area and watched them procedurally take patients who showed up in an ambulance be taken ahead of me for ASSESSMENT. Why? Because they were already generating revenue for this facility while someone who needs help in a capacity before harming themselves is ignored, then, allowed to leave. This experience shows me that there is no safe place to get help UNTIL a person harms themselves or someone else. Unless we are worth money to these garbage collectors, we are worthless.

The staff there doesn’t know anything. Very disorganized Tried to call, you’re supposed to have a code, You asked for the code, they’re like I don’t know it If they can’t do their job, they should not be working there

I can only speak for the Adolescent unit and they treated my daughter with respect, and provided the help she needed. As a parent you would always be concerned about and inpatient behavioral facility for your Children but I can honestly say we felt comfortable at all times and they made sure they stayed in constant communication with us. If you are in the unfortunately need for teenager issues help this place is recommended.

Mohammad was most helpful to me. He was kind and quiet with a gentle manner. Juan was helpful too. Maureen deserves a raise. Natalie does a fine job. Peter is an excellent RN with a good sense of humor. Overall, my hospital stay here was recuperative and the last week or so here has been helpful in calming my nerves. I suffered with an eating disorder and I was able to, at this hospital, distinguish between nausea and “ad nauseam”. I was finally able to be heard thanks to Mohammad and Abraham the cab driver. Thank you all for your efforts.

I WAS IN DISTRESS AND CONFUSED UNTILL I MET THE PATIENT ADVOCATE MOHAMMAD HE WOULD NOT BACK DOWN ON WHAT WAS BEST FOR ME HE SHOWED ME THAT HE WAS VERY CONCERNED AND HE CARED FOR ME, HE WAS ALWAYS AVAILABLE FOR ME EVERY TIME I NEEDED HIM . PEOPLE LIKE HIM IS WHAT THIS PLACE FOR TIMES SUCH AS THESE. DON’T EVER LET HIM GO OR SOMEONE WILL NOT BENEFIT FROM GETTING THE HELP THEY NEED. MHT VON’CELLE IS A BIG TEDDY BEAR, HE LOOKS HARD AND STRONG BUT HE HAS A HEART OF GOLD, HE IS SOO KIND AND HE LISTENS TO YOU , ALL HE ASKS IN RETURN IS THAT YOU HEAR HIM OUT. HOUSEKEEPER MAURELLE WEARS HIS BADGE SOO PROUD AND TAKES HIS TIME NOT TO LEAVE ANY WORK LEFT BEHIND, HIS DEMEANOR, HIS CLOTHES ,HIS HAIR IS VERY VERY NEAT. RN SHANNON IS ONE OF A KIND, THERE ARE NOT MANY NURSES LIKE HER ANYMORE, SHE ALWAYS HAS A SMILE AND IS VERY UNDERSTANDING, SHE WAS EXCELLENT. MHT RICKY S IS HARD TO COME BY, HIS WISDOM AND KNOWLEDGE CHANGED MY LIKE FOR THE BETTER, HE IS THE SUPERMAN. MHT JUAN LOOKS LIKE GEORGE LOPEZ AND HE HAS A HEART OF GOLD AS WELL, HE IS FUNNY AND ALWAYS GOES OUT OF HIS WAY TO HELP ANYONE WITHOUT COMPLAINT. MHT ALMA IS A WOMAN OF VIRTUE, SHE HAS BEEN AROUND THE WOURLD AND SHE HAS TALKED ME OUT OF HARMING MYSELF AND A REASON TO LIVE. I HAVE KNOW HER FOR OVER 15 YEARS THIS STAFF IS AMAZING, THEY WILL CHANGE LIVES FOR THE BETTER. I WOULD RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL TO THOSE IN NEED OF HELP FOR BEHAVIORAL MEDICINE AND CHEMICAL DEPENDENCY.

This has got to be the most uncommunicative and disorganized facility I have ever encountered. I provided a healthcare POA more than once and gave the patient code and they still insist on saying “ I don’t know” I left messages several times for the physician and/or the social worker to contact me with no return call. I am very concerned about family member being here. I am very disappointed. If I am unheard I can not imagine what my family member must be going through, to be heard.🤬

I was employed at LBH for a short time but overall this was a great place to work. The hospital has only been in business a short time so of course there are somethings that needs attention but that is no different than any other business just starting out. There are some people employed there that genuinely care about the patients and that is what matters the most.

The staff here is very amazing. Dina K. Was my therapist while I Was getting treatment. At a very crucial time of my life she made feel like was worth something, important. She was very professional at what she did. Yet you can can feel the humbleness in the way she operated. Has such a beautiful character. The few M.H.T.’s I interacted with took good care of me. Juan Martinez, Karl B. Jorge Bustamante are tremendous at what they do. They looked out for all of my needs, were attentive, and respectful. The activity therapist Kaitlyn was awesome to. She always knew how to brighten the mood of the whole room. And the patient advocate Muhammad was very great also. He always and I mean always heard what I had to say. Always kept it 100 with me. Never did I once need to ask for something over and over. The atmosphere at lakes behavioral hospital is great. I honestly from the bottom of my heart can say that if someone is really looking for help that this is the place!!! The staff here are very professional and they try their hardest to attend all your needs!!!

I had a good experience while being at this facility. The staff was great and I was able to come for them for just about all my needs and they were able to help as much as they could. Overall I had a good time and got the help I needed.

I surprisingly had a really beneficial experience here two years ago. At least on the dual diagnosis floor/program, Payton was the MT I had and I thought he did a great job. I was there for 2 weeks and genuinely felt sad when discharged. I believe the good people I happened to get put with was just luck though, as the rest of the staff were not so great. There was definitely an issue with communication and a general lack of organization as a whole. As far as I saw though, most of the medical personnel and staff treated patients with patience and respect.

The only reason I gave a one star review is because I needed to write a review otherwise it would be ZERO ! Residents are not provided with close or blankets and if they want to take showers they only have cold water. They do not provide family members with any information nor do they let the residents call their loved ones if they need too. This facility is worse than government owned .... Elgin is paradise compare with lake. If you care about your family member never ever send them here or let the hospital transfer them. I will be filing complaints and escalating as much as possible.

I wanna end my life! I have more minutes left in me before I walk to my car and take all my prescription pills at once

My wife got admitted into the hospital while on a trip in US due to severe sleep disorder and her mental confusion state. She got the best help and support until I could get an ESTA to fly there and pick her home. When this sort of incident happened at home, it is already very hard for the patient and his/her family let alone happening abroad. However, thanks to all the staff's invaluable encouragement, advices and supports when we are mostly in need, it is much easier for us to go through. I am extremely grateful to Dr. Mohammad Akram who is so kind and supportive, he even offered me lift to hotel, supermarket and pharmacy. Without his advice and support, I could not imagine how hard it would be. Thank you very much and God bless you all, we hope to return and tour Chicago & Waukegan again one day and to say thank you. With warmest regards!

I absolutely loved the staff here, my nurses Natalie and Kyle were wonderful and my night nurse has really inspired me. I have learned a lot of coping skills through the groups provided to us. I would recommend this facility to anyone that needs professional help. Thank you everyone and thank you Trina :)

WORSE MENTAL HOSPITAL EVER! I mean they treat you horribly… and when trying to explain what you feel they cut you off and are just judgmental all around… overly rude, not understanding, and I’m not sure how else to put it it but this hospital needs to be watched.. cuz having people or family that go in there and call me crying telling me how badly they are getting treated… yeah no.

This place is a joke. Do not expect your loved one to get any adequate treatment while in this facilities care. My wife is currently under their "care" right now and she is worse off than when we admitted her. She has been there one week, in that time none of her family or I have spoken to a doctor, got to talk to her councilor one time and I have been ignored for the last 3 days for her to return my calls. My wife says she hasn't had any counseling in pushing 4 days. Now she is due o be released and she is no different than when she went in. In fact she may be worse. My wife is deep in a manic episode and not thinking rationally. Yet they are giving her the stamp of approval. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE. All you're going to get is frustration and a huge medical bill. The state needs to investigate this facility for medical fraud because I have never seen a place drop the ball this bad in my entire life.

  • 1/5 James B. 6 months ago on Google
The staff here are some of the most caring, but everything about the place is fundamentally flawed and if it werent for the people you meet whilst there the only thing that'd be a real take away is that you should try staying alive as much possible so you dont end up going back, and that the toothpaste there is absurdly good. The food provided, the room you stay in, the schedule thats structured, it all is so prison-like. Youre constantly forced to re-remember your traumas in order to talk about them in group therapy, which is the only form of therapy provided. Whilst most of the doctors and psychiatrists staffed there are generally very caring, Dr. Antonio is verbally manipulative and aggressive. She made quick and callous remarks based off my demeanor and what I tried to be honest with her about only ended up being used against me. I went in due to me improperly taking care of my depression, which was known as that was on my medical record, and the doctor tried to perscribe me medication that treats schizophrenia and aggressive behavior due to autism. Severe lack of professionalism and maturity from her in a job that requires serious empathy and interpersonal communication.

I can’t even go over all the things wrong with this “hospital”. The only reason you feel happy at the end is because you’re getting out but you’re still sad that you’re leaving people behind in a place that doesn’t treat anyone right. This is the worst place for mental health. Come here if you want to get worse. There’s not even a on call MD. And good luck trying to see one. This place and everyone that works there should be ashamed. I don’t know how you sleep at night.

They should clarify and put people according to their condition... how is it possible that they put them all together, there are people who unfortunately are hospitalized there and are very critical mentally and very aggressive, I wonder if the director of that hospital would realize that... how is a person who needs help going to get well in that environment, in those conditions? The place is super super cold, they are not treated well. the people who are there... supposedly it is for mental help, but on that place looks as if it were a place of mental torture... with these supposed therapies the poor patients who are not so bad mentally... they are going to be traumatized and with fear that is not help... that is aggravating the problem, I think if they going there for help ,, they should get the help.. not just leave them in that freezing room or out the room just waiting for the time to pass .. what is the point of having a very cold temperature how is gonna help the patients like that.. totally a place that shoul not be open.. that suppose treatment is not what the peoples need to get well..

i was here before being discharged from the navy, just wanted to say thanks to the techs on the military floor for being so kind and caring to us. a majority of us were folks who had a mental health episode in bootcamp and yall were the first ones to show us real kindness <3

i am a teenager now 17 and i was put in this hospital about a year ago. To give a completely honest review and opinion on this place, for the most part i’d like to say that i liked it, but to be fair no one likes being away from home and those you love for a while so it wasn’t like i loved being there. The techs were nice, all of them, they all cared, the food had no flavor but what do you expect. After a while the beds were comfy, im glad i didn’t have a bad experience at a hospital. They all made me laugh and in all feel better, i did not feel alone. Obviously for private reasons i cannot say the names of the techs but T, you were the best

FIND ANOTHER PLACE. A friend was at this facility for 2 weeks and while an appointment was setup, the patient still had to wait 6 hours to be seen. You treatment is public you were roomed with other patients. In the end this facility l list the patient's personal effects, a cellphone. I'm not saying the staff member stole it but they probably did. This place has the atmosphere of an animal shelter.

I really liked this hospital inpatient because there were certain groups that relates to how I was feeling at that moment. I also made some friends here by just coloring coloring sheets from a coloring book . I also Impressed some patients from my knowledge of old classic tv shoes and movies. I also got to play some great games with the group that were really fun. For example Jenga but there was a cache to it. If we got 33 blocks from Jenga we would donuts the next day. That didn’t happen but we had fun playing Jenga. There are two staff members I would like to thank. first there is Angelique I would like to thank because she went out of her way to buy us pizza for lunch and she didn’t have to do that. Lastly I would like to thank Mohammad because if it wasn’t for him I wouldn’t hav to leave this inpatient facility till Friday and I would of miss my god nephews birthday tomorrow. So thank you to all the staff here and i’m looking forward to outpatient therapy.

I came in feeling depressed until the staff approached me. They made me laugh and feel better and catliyn the one who does the groups is very kind and gives good advice. The nurses are great at always checking on me and asking how I feel. The nurse techs are funny and very good people. Trina,Ricky S, Juan, and Mohammed are terrific staff employees. I thank LBH for the great amount of time they spent with me.
