Good vibes. Small intimate venue that makes it a great spot to hear live music, even during a pandemic NYE. 😉 Best cosmos are made by the bartender Jonathan.

Great music, beyond what you usually find in Chicago clubs. Not that the music you find in Chicago jazz and blues clubs is anything but great. It's just that Jazz Showcase often goes beyond the usual offerings. A word for that cute waitress who was working there the night I went. She was the only waitress on the floor, meaning she had to work twice or thrice as hard. Either get her an assistant, or double her pay! She was fantastic in serving her customers despite obviously being overworked.

Great music. The worst seats to sit in! They are the most uncomfortable seats in all Chicago’s music venues. The person next to you should be a close friend as they will be practically sitting in your seat. Come on you been around forever break down and get some new seats and space them out a little.

We didn't get to experience this place in the end. I called to find out what their cover charge was and found out it was a free night. We were visiting from out of town and this place was within walking distance of our hotel. The hours online were listed as being open until 2am. We got there around 8:30pm, music was said to start at 7:30pm. The doors were locked. We walked all the way around the building, thinking we had just tried the wrong door. No other door was open, so I called, and they told me they were closed already. I was really bummed...this place looks dope! The lighting inside looked really nice.

This is the 3rd time this year we've seen shows at the club. We've enjoyed all three featured artists. In a discussion afterwards my other two guests remarked that this artist, Isaac Collier, was almost too discordant for their taste, although at the end of the set they were getting into the freeplay between drummer and sax. The drummer was especially skilled at multiple rhythms and was quite the showman. We enjoyed overall, the exploratory rhythm and lead lines of this young, new band and will continue to patronize JS supporting up and coming talents like Mr Collier. Ty.

Was my first time visiting tonight. Came to see Amiee Gwen Pat Metheny and what a show they put on! They had two shows and I ended up staying for both. I’m glad I did because they had a whole different set list of songs for us to enjoy. Overall great warm atmosphere that’s dedicated to jazz music, the past and future alike. Will be returning soon!

A historical place for jazz musicians that has been there since 1947, we were privileged to attend the show with our family as part of the jazz ensemble event hosted by our middle school in which our younger son is a Bari Saxophonist. There's a lot going on here and there is a wait between shows and the gentleman at the entrance makes sure you are not in the wrong show. The seating area is big and spread out with front seats marked as reserved but we did not see anyone else come in to take those seats. There's ample room for standing if you are recording a show without the usual head bobbing. The stage itself is a bit cramped and overly small for our little band of musicians. There was a lot of arranging and rearranging before everyone could settle in for the show. There's no food service for the patrons but alcohol and other beverages are available. The sodas are pretty affordable and do not cost as much as other bars and restaurants.

Had never seen live jazz before. Shared a table with a couple of great enthusiasts. They were kind enough to fill us in on the artist and their history. Solid vibe good drinks.

The best martini I’ve had in my life. Every martini tries to live up to the one I had at Jazz Showcase and doesn’t come close. Was it the cocktail, or the music, or the ambiance? Impossible to say, but the legend lives on. Come here if you love jazz, or even if you don’t.

My sister, Ardin and I visited on 26 October 2021 and we had a great time!! It was a small crowd and everyone was enjoying the music. The band, as led by Bob Lark, was fantastic and engaging!! Between the performance, Mr. Lark actually came and personally greeted everyone which made it an all the more intimate setting. The young lady who waited on us was outstanding!!! We highly recommend this Chicago jazz venue.

Best jazz in Chicago. The venue carries a historic charm and the ticket buyers are respectful and appreciative of the art. Upon arrival, we picked our seats for General Admission. Next time we’ll try to reserve one of the couches. The location is in the south loop just off the red line. COVID review: Mask mandate is being followed and vaccination proof is required. I felt safe attending the show.

Went tonight for the first time. Fun venue, good music. Funny & engaging staff. Decent drink menu, no food (which was ok for us) very limited beer menu though. All macros, nothing local. Definitely worth the visit!

Nice and cozy place to hang out. I like how the sound is loud enough to immerse you but you can still maintain a conversation. Our server was extremely courteous and professional, very quick with orders and always checking up on us. The cocktails were quite tasty as well!!

Great guys! Great place! We visited on the first day of 2023 without reservation. So cloudy, but they found best place to us finally. We enjoyed nice music and atmosphere at one of oldest Jazz Clubs. Thanks a lot for providing great seat to us!

The music is nostalgic and soothing. The atmosphere was mature and comforting. I can't wait till next time. If you have had a long, busy, and tiring week, please come out to release all your tension. Leave it in the atmosphere because music inspires and uplift 🎶

A cozy and historic venue with outstanding staff and amazing artwork on the walls. Sound in the venue is pretty good for being a small place, and the local band we saw was great.

I went there last week. The music was good and I paid $30 for entree. Just one thing I’m disappointed because they charged me more than what I put on the bill. I had ordered a drink and my bill included tip was $18 but it shows in my credit card right now is $21.25 It’s only a few dollar different but pls just don’t do that.. I don’t think I would come back..

WOW! I saw Pharez Whitted here 01/28/2022 and it was phenomenal. My first time here in Chicago and from where I’m from back West we have nothing like this. Everything made you feel like you’re at home. The way everyone interacted with the music and the musicians was amazing, something I will never forget. This will always be a must when I’m in Chicago! Thank you for a great time!

I had a good experience here. The place was cozy and the music was really good. Limited cocktails on the menu but they did have a full bar so the bartender can make anything you want.

(Translated by Google) Good Jazz and cozy atmosphere. Comfortable seats to enjoy good music with a variety of beers, this time it was local beer, very good, recommended. The only thing is that it closes early, at least on Thursday. (Original) Buen Jazz y ambiente acogedor. Cómodos asientos para disfrutar de buena música con variedad de cervezas, en esta oportunidad fue cerveza local, muy buena, recomendado. Lo único es que cierra temprano, al menos los días jueves.

Always enjoyed coming to the jazz showcase especially on a Christmas Eve or day show. Super intimate and quaint. The show never fails. It's tight quarters but that's the joy of it. A nice little gem! Nice strong drinks

Visiting Chicago my friend and I wanted to step outside of our norm and get a new experience. We went to the club and were instantly pleased with the pictures and decor. The ambiance was nice. The band was amazing, the Base player was very impressive. The owner was extremely nice, we enjoyed our night and left with a smile.

We were here for Omar Sosa jazz concert. It was amazing show, and my favorite jazz concert ever. The wine was good and priced reasonable. They dont serve food, but they allow you to bring your own food during the show. Highly recommend.

Went to hear G. Thomas Allen Quartet last night, they were phenomenal! Nice atmosphere for live jazz in Chicago. Parking was in the back of the venue so we didn't have to worry about that if you drive in from the suburbs.

Really authentic place. All employees were very friendly and clearly loved jazz and their job. The crowd is superb. The show itself was really great. Very talented group of musicians. We payed for the 8:30PM show and we’re pleasantly surprised that we had the option to stay and watch the 10PM show at no additional charge. I recommend buying tickets beforehand as the place does get full and you may not get good seats or a seat at all as a walk in.

Maybe I just lucked out, but I went to an Omar Sosa event and wow... just wow, fabulous performance. The venue itself has this nice historic and classy feel to it. You have servers that ask you if you would like to drink. Comfortable seating.

We saw The Pat Martino Trio. This place is much more open and has many love seats and big couches. Green Mill, in comparison, is packed too tight for big names. This is a great jazz venue. The only choice for dinner nearby is Bar Louie, or Pizza by the slice. Service and cocktails are perfect. You can dress up, or be a slob. Anything goes. I'm not saying it's fancy. I mean some of those couches could leave spring imprints on your butt. Lord only knows how many drinks have been spilled on them. It's too dark to see any dirt. Just a small votive on each table for lighting. It's a jazz club. It's exactly how it's supposed to be.

This was the second of 2 live music venues I visited the same night. It's true what other reviews say and that there really are no bad seats, that said we still went for the cup seats and were seated steps away from the stage with a perfect view of the entire quartet. Drinks were a bit on the pricier side compared to other places but the atmosphere and acoustics in the place were awesome.
