Loved the place! Very welcoming, great, fresh ambiance for breakfast and lunch. Good portions and prices. Excellent desserts and overall fantastic flavors. Service is very quick and a great variety in the menu. Good location close to the magnificent mile area.

I always enjoy coming here for a dessert or a quick meal. The tables are tight and when it’s full of diners it gets crowded. The patio is a bit more roomy. The desserts are always beautiful and a really nice treat.

I have to say I was expecting perfection from this restaurant having read their Google reviews. However, as much as I appreciated a very polite and helpful staff, the food just did not rise to my expectations. I ordered Quiche Lorraine, which would be amazing if it wasn't for the very fatty big pieces of bacon (if you're a bacon lover, then you're in luck; however, I am not a fan of bacon that's not made to be crispy). The menu says that they use smoked ham,but the quiche was not made with that. The petite salad on the side did not have any veggies that I've seen on the photos from other guides (no radishes, fennel, or grape tomatoes- excuse me: I got one half of a grape tomato;) ). The salad is more like garnish, having barely any dressing. The kids loved their chocolate croissants ( yes, they're really good, but they would have been better slightly warmed up),and their fancy PG triple chocolate drinks. The latte and the lavender cappuccino were just okay. The lavender cappuccino had all of the lavender flavor/syrop at the bottom of the cup, and I wished it had tasted as well as it looked. The breakfast hash my husband ordered was decent. All in all, it is a very nice breakfast restaurant, but it would have been better if the flavor and the food were paid more attention to. I am sure that these can be improved, especially after seeing how dedicated and hard-working staff at Pierrot Gourmet is. Finally, I have to say that the patio offers some lively and pleasant seating that we really enjoyed.

The ambiance is pleasant. The place is spacious, allowing for private conversations. Interesting art displayed. Good menu selections. The food is fresh and flavorful. Their specialty is southern dishes. The prices are fair for the quality, quantity, and presentation. There is on the street parking. When weather permits, there is outdoor seating. I enjoyed my meal. I plan to visit again in the near future. Handicapped accessible entrance.

Far from a hole in the wall, this neighborhood hangout has plenty to offer. Restaurant dining with truly delicious menu options. Bar area that's neat and tidy; with mixologists that know how to tickle your fancy. There's even an outdoor/patio area for the cigar connoisseur. All or nothing, Norman's has it all.

Quaint little place that my sister brought me to one day when we were out shopping. It's definitely a great place for French food, great desserts too. Everything is priced fairly balanced and the flavor is what'd I expect from a small place like this. The place feels pretty "homey" but not too much. I'd probably say it's more like going to your parents' house after you've moved out and they've done some home improvements, all while bringing out the "fine China" when you're visiting.

Very high quality and well prepared dishes at a reasonable price. The service was excellent and the food was ready fast. They even offered us jam in little jars which made the experience even more enjoyable.

I have never eaten food so delicious in my entire life. The hot chocolate is a spiritual excursion in one sip. The food was perfectly seasoned, fresh and top quality. The entire staff was so very friendly and attentive and the service was so fast I almost wasn't ready for it. Definitely looking to go back for more.

What a fantastic little bistro. Located right next to the Peninsula Hotel, this is a go to place for breakfast or brunch. Incredible service starting with Rebecca, Lyn, and Ben. They remembered coffee order from previous day and took great care of us. Highly recommend!

This place was great! General Notes: A couple quick notes of clarification: 1) Some of the photos of the establishment on Google Maps look like they are pre-renovation. The photos with the green and white color palette represent the current status of the place, 2) the place feels more like a café than a breakfast establishment, which may matter to some people, and 3) they stop service of breakfast around 11:00am. Food: I ordered the Quiche Lorraine. Loved it - full of flavor and the texture was just right. Crust was flakey and golden brown. Came with a light salad that paired well with the richness of the main dish. Coffee: Brewed correctly, not burned. Wish I had asked what brand of coffee bean they used. Liked the coffee mug. Requested cream and they provided a large creamer! Bonus points. I like a judicious pour of cream in my coffee and with the smaller creamers other restaurants use I usually run out quickly. Mood: The place is without a doubt curated very carefully. There is a consistent theme. The furniture, cutlery, dishware, and location outfitting is very professional and tasteful. Pierrot offers a different aesthetic relative to your typical Chicago breakfast location. I personally was not the biggest fan of the minty/shamrock green color and how brightly lit the space was, but this is my personal preference. Service: Explained the menu well. A member of our party has Celiac disease (i.e., gluten free) and the waitress worked through this without a problem. Drink refills and check both came quick. No service problems, thank you!

Best pâtisserie in town! The staff are also super friendly - especially a Tunisian waiter who was so kind to offer us a complementary macaron on the house. I love taking these to people when invited to dinner- everyone ends up loving them!

I was in Chicago for a girls trip. I’m an early bird so I was up and wanted to find a place to have breakfast, read the paper and relax. This was the place. I sat outside at a bistro table. Even though it was cool out, their outdoor heaters worked well. The service was fantastic and attentive. I was asked as soon as I was seated if I would like a paper or a magazine. I read the paper, ate a fantastic frittata and was given a coffee to go to sip as I wandered around Michigan Avenue window shopping while waiting for my girlfriends to awaken. Perfect.

We came in late afternoon. Found flatbreads, french onion soup and a fantastic salad, all to share. I had the hot chocolate and daughters ordered wine. The server was fantastic. Atmosphere was friendly and comfortable. Did not want to leave! The bakery looked great but we were too full from the meal. Will definitely make plans to return!

I ate at Pierre Gourmet a couple of months ago, and was excited to try their desserts after a friend recommended the restaurant. However, after receiving the worst service I’ve ever had, I can only assume the staff presumed we were foreign tourists and treated us badly, as my sister and I are Korean. Further, the staff clearly doesn't consider non-Americans to be customers worthy of good service. We were thus subjected to intentionally horrible, reprehensible service; let me explain why their service constitutes racism. With specific regard to the bad service, the waiter ignored us for at least the first 10 minutes, walking right past us again and again, despite the restaurant being far from busy. The waiter then had a very aloof and condescending attitude while taking our order. The food arrived within a reasonable amount of time, but was brought without utensils, so because I’d ordered soup, I couldn't eat. Another server, not our waiter, said he'd bring a spoon, but instead approached other diners, made small talk, and basically forgot about us. The waiter didn't come over to our table for a long time, but after I finally got his attention and told him about not having a spoon, he brought one over, but more or less dropped it onto the table. Finally, it's customary for a waiter to check on his or her patrons from time to time, but while this waiter would ask other patrons how their meals were or if they needed anything, when asking us how everything was, he would walk by as quickly as possible without even waiting for a response. Again, this treatment was intentional, as we saw him providing other patrons with far better service, asking detailed questions, making conversation, bringing requested items, etc. Honestly, any of these actions individually would be excusable as a result of the normal busy operation of a restaurant, but taken as a whole, it's obvious we were being singled out to purposefully receive exceptionally poor service. Again, it is our opinion that this terrible service came as a direct result of our being Asian, meaning Pierrot Gourmet supports and engages in racist practices. If you disagree with racism and prejudice, I would suggest avoiding this restaurant at all costs. _______________________________

I really loved their "Creme brulee latte" as well as other dessert menus and kid's menu, etc... and highly recommended this place to several friends of mine and one of them went to visit a few days ago with her visitor from Asia. They visited and had terrible experience with the server(white man) who constantly ignored them while being very kind to other none colored guests. This man didn't provide a spoon for their soup and brought it only after taking care of all other guests and almost throw it onto their table. My friend couldn't believe the situation and lost all her appetite.. What a shame.. I really feel sorry about recommending this place to my friend who is still upset with her experience.

French salad with added salmon is one of the best salads I've ever eaten at a restaurant. Exceptionally good. The lettuce was fresh and tender, the herbs just chopped, the dressing flavorful but not overpowering. The salmon was perfectly prepared, with crispy skin. This place is pricey, of course, given it's location, but you can spend the same or a but less for much poorer quality in this much-touristed area. Will definitely return.

The customer service here is superb. We got there and realized that I didn't have my mask. The owner stopped us and had someone give me a mask. We had the Henny Sidecar and a watermelon margarita. The drinks were amazing and full of spirits. Now on to the food, the seafood gumbo was EVERYTHING! The Chipotle pasta was amazing too. Even the sweet potato fries were amazing, the best I've ever eaten. Thank you so much and we will definitely be back.

Excellent! My wife and I went for date night. Live music, you can tell the locals knew each other so it made for an authentic experience. More importantly, we knew what the deal was when the chicken gumbo appetizer hit harder than Mike Tyson in his prime. All of it was some d*** good food. Highly recommend.

Owner can be rude and food and drink over priced. Went during pandemic and some of items were terrible. The peach cobbler was from the can and tasted like can and overpriced for portion. Greens were frozen or can greens and had corn in it and tasted like corn and can. Wings were about the only thing palatable and worth eating. Also pink champange over priced for during a pandemic. Some of the staff can use better training, you may be sitting there for a while...

I live in the suburbs in an area where there are a lot of good restaurants but I chose to come to Norman's first, once the pandemic "stay home" ban was lifted. I'm glad I did. We made reservations to prevent a long wait to get seated, and were seated shortly after our scheduled arrival time. The food was DELICIOUS!!! The service was excellent! I've missed this place. Thanks for coming back strong NORMAN'S. I'll be back soon.

Displeased with the food when we went in after service on September 4th when you opened up at 2. I ordered jerk chicken with red beans and rice. Both were not good at all. The chicken tasted like just baked chicken no jerk sauce and the beans were not seasoned and to soft. We usually love your spot but this time it was a fail.😒😢

A great French cafe next to Peninsula Hotel off Michigan Avenue. Fantastic french pastries, coffee, food, and desserts. Loved for a morning wake up before hitting the day. The pastries are out of this world fluffy and light, a must have.

I would give the pastry items 4 out of 5 - but all in all I give them 3. Here are the points you should know about this place: 1. Food quality is also good, but not great 2. Prices are not reasonable - usually very expensive items 3. Fancy place and good service 4. There are not enough seats inside of the place. This may cause problems in rainy or cold days and long waiting time if you want to sit inside.

Excellent service by sharp, well dressed, attentive people who care that you enjoy your time there. Interesting and fantastic menu choices to satisfy your desire. Absolutely loved this place, we ordered the chicken salad which was amazing but way too many salad leaves, they could have put half the amount which actually would have been better, we also got the tuna tartine with crisps which was good and a side of macaroni which was great with a bit of hot sauce.

We have loved coming here for years—our go-to place for brunch. Honestly, we dearly miss the old pastry chef. The new pastries are overly sweet and buttery, and miss the unique and delicate flavors they once were. The rose macaroon has slightly improved since the re-opening but is missing the lychee fruit, is overly sweet, and still misses the mark. The fruit tart crust taste like a sugar cookie, not like a French almond pastry tart and is covered with a whipped butter? The new interior is lovely, as is the staff! It still has a great ambiance, as well!

Great Experience! This place is busy but you would never know it by the excellent service. The crew works well together and constantly has eyes on every table to make sure nothing is lacking. The cappuccino was perfect, as was the Egg Flambiet. It hit the spot.

I had the most wonderful experience here! The ambiance was great- everything from the internal temperature, the music, the lighting to the displays! The staff was very attentive- I was eating alone and reading and the staff approached as and when I’d take a break. I asked for a warmed croissant, which wasn’t warm, however the tea I ordered was perfectly steeped and at the perfect drinking temperature. This may seem like a small detail but as a tea drinker this literally brought me so much joy! I proceeded to order the lobster roll with a salad for lunch. I am dairy free for the most part - croissants are the only thing I pop a lactaid for, and Chef Jerrick was kind enough to make the adjustments for my lobster roll. I had the pleasure of speaking to the Chef for a while and his vision of the Patisserie was completely in line with everything I saw and experienced. This will definitely be a regular lunch spot for me! Highly recommend it! The pastries looked delicious but I didn’t want to push the envelope on trying more dairy than I could endure.
