I only have one word for this restaurant. It’s AMAZING. The food tasted really Healthy fresh and tasty. The Korean Noodle bowl was on a spicy side. Drinks were decent. Food is pricey. The waiter got us a free dessert for my friend’s birthday. It was a nice gesture. Lastly, We had dogs with us and had called few restaurants which were pet friendly but none of them allowed the dogs and the patios were closed because of the Winter. But True Food Kitchen was so kind to seat us outside. Must try place.

Stopped by for a healthy meal while visiting Chicago. The restaurant was about 75% full, but there were plenty of seats at the bar. Lady working the bar (evening of May 17th) was extremely friendly, helpful, and engaging. She had outstanding customer service skills. She quickly came for the drink and appetizer order while offering some suggestions too. Started off with the Kale Aid and soup, both arrived within 5 minutes. For the meal, ordered the Ancient Grain Bowl. It was paced out perfectly after the appetizer and arrived in about 15 minutes. Wow, food was amazing. Even if you're not looking for healthy food, the food tasted great. The soup was rich, hearty, and flavorful. The bowl had so many complex tastes and different textures that went well together. Each bite give you a different taste. Ingredients sounded so simple, but the overall taste was unsuspecting. It will be hard not to order this again. Great food and service. Even if you're not looking for a healthy restaurant, I'd recommend coming here. I will definitely come back and try some of the other menu items.

Warm welcome on a rainy Monday evening. I was seated quickly by the staff who were all friendly, helpful and attentive. I ordered the Kale drink, Butternut Squash Soup and the Ancient Grain Bowl with Salmon. A little too much ice in the kale juice making it watery and hard to drink, but sip-able. The soup was noticeably overly-salty - Not just a taste/seasoning issue. However, Nolan was attentive and asked the kitchen provided a re-do. The 2nd take was less salty and more palatable. The spice balance and sage notes were nice. Overall, great mains and service was top notch. Service recovery attempted for the soup issue was much appreciated - Thank you to Nolan and the team.

I sat at the bar and Megan was really great! I got my food quickly and all the staff were super friendly. I had a great conversation with Casey who helped me with many questions I had about the food and I got educated answers. This is a place to go when you care about what you eat and put into your body. Just had a brilliant lunch again! Emily was fantastic she was talkative, and knowledgeable about the menu. Was very passionate about the Squash pie! It was fantastic! The O.G grass fed burger 🍔 is terrific and the cauliflower, with dill parsley and dates is a must as well.

We loved the fresh food here and all the choices for veg, vegan and gluten free dining out needs. Everything was very tasty. And the rose sangria was outstanding.

Used to to regularly but found the quality was decreasing and felt it wasn’t worth the cost to go here or even recommend it anymore. When their vegan burger first came out it was delicious and great but as time went on the quality in ingredients decreased such as switching buns and having a smaller burger/toppings on it. Our last time in our waiter was bumping into tables and asked us multiple times if he took our order already. Before that time we went in and the waiter asked if we wanted to try veggies with the hummus and I asked what veggies came with it and he said it varies but celery and carrots probably. We decided to give it a try and were given lettuce, chopped tomatoes and unpeeled carrots. Hummus and lettuce?? It seems like this was just an opportunity to up charge for the veggies that shouldn’t have been there. We didn’t even eat the carrots and couldn’t believe they were peeled. Outside of that sometimes the potatoes would come cold and other times warm and similar with the noodle dish. Sometimes it came cold and other times warm. We literally had no idea how they were supposed to come it was so inconsistent. Obviously some things were really good especially fall seasonal items but as the quality decreased along with service with prices being so high it wasn’t something I wanted to return back to.

Love the food here. Always fresh and tasty. Menu changes every once in a while which makes it worth coming back. Great vegan and vegetarian options. Kitchen is open so you can see how everything is being prepared freshly.

Ambience - Was nice with the looks of scratch kitchen Food - Was tastier with lot of vegetables with less oil, and great in taste, though quantities are very small, for the price we pay, comparison to other Chicago restaurants. Why 2*- The restaurant has lot of flies, which was much disturbing to eat, most of the time including us, several people were waving their hands to remove the flies. When I ask the crew, she went and asked the supervisor, but the response seems to be terrible. There is no consoling words, it was like due to summer this is what is. All the great good, ambience, good service, all gone away with the bad responses especially with the customer response. We are paying high for the food not to be ave the flies all the time and better coaching is needed to the supervisors / staff, on how to handle such situations.

I visited a Wednesday around 6pm. The restaurant was almost empty, thus got rapidly assigned to the bar and was able to quickly order and receive my food. The poke bowl was delicious. Lots of staff, lots of space. The portion was okay but I wasn't super hungry. I can see that it might be problematic in other circumstances.

We were fortunate enough to get a dinner reservation for a party of 12 on a Friday evening. Once we arrived, there was a minimal wait while they prepared our table. The restaurant has a cute California vibe to it. We were seated at a large table in the back corner. Once seated our server promptly came over to greet us and answer any questions. The excellence service continued throughout the duration of our stay. Our server offered food and drink recommendations as needed. We started by ordering a variety of appetizers for the table. Unfortunately, I did not get pictures. But everything was very good. The two drinks I wanted were unfortunately unavailable. So I got the Sparkling Peach Tea and added tequila. It was just ok. For my entree I ordered the Korean Noodle Bowl. It was flavorful. The protein size was very generous. I ended up taking most of it to go and finished it off the next day for lunch. A few people at the table ordered desserts and we all sampled. Overall it was a solid experience and I would definitely consider visiting again to try some of the other dishes.

Enjoyed a lovely work-lunch this afternoon. My co-worker and I shared the charred cauliflower (amazing!) and then I had the earth bowl with grilled chicken - for a beverage I had the raspberry lemon tea - everything was lovely, fresh and delicately presented. I highly recommend. I would definitely go back!

I am a vegan and love delicious food, especially burgers. I came here for the double vegan burger. I liked the building inside and the service. Great waiter! But unfortunately I was completely disappointed with the burger! Two cutlets are stuck together and they were terribly salty, there are almost no vegetables inside and only the moth from the cutlets is felt! This is the worst vegan burger I've ever had, I ordered a burger and tea and paid $28 plus tip. I'm sorry I spent so much money on a completely tasteless oversalted dish! If you like vegan burgers, then I do not recommend this place for you. Regards, @catwalkblonde Instagram. One of the best local experts in the world and winner of Google Connect Live 2019.

Great gluten free dairy free options! Went there twice in a row!! Had the gluten free dairy free pizza, SO GOOD! Also the soups are great! Hummus was a bit off, way too much garlic but it was okay overall. Had it with gluten free “pita” which I believe was the same crust of the pizza. Overall great experience. Loved the service I would recommend! #LKTG

3rd different True Food I've been to and they never dissapoint!!! Such great, clean food options that explode with flavor! I am a huge fan of the Ancient grains bowl and my wife states that you can't go wrong with any of the pizza options!!! Always recommend this place!

Soo happy with everything here. Food and service were both 5 star experiences. My waitress Karma was lovely, knowledgeable, and made an extra effort to make sure my allergies were accommodated. I had the gluten free vegan pizza and mango tart. Would easily come back for either.

Mediocre and overpriced. I tried a couple of things off the menu and found that my food lacked flavor (they seemed to just add fat instead of seasoning), was overcooked, or texture was just very wrong (pizza crust, I’m thinking of you). Service was great and very friendly, but for the price of a nice restaurant left hungry and not satisfied with the experience. I do appreciate that vegan options are clearly labeled.

AMAZING! I was missing so much a real and tasty food!! This picture is the Teriyaki Bowl with additional Salmon. It’s well served, fresh, balanced and beautiful! I love the place, it’s clean, large, organized and modern! I also ordered a Sparkling Peach Tea, which is also delicious! 👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼

My family and I have eaten at True Food Kitchen restaurants in Houston and Chicago since 2015. Compared to just about every other restaurant, the ingredients are excellent. I appreciate the simple touches like the candle on the table and the quality of the paper napkin. I do not like cloth napkins for they usually are not very absorbent. I most recently ate twice in one week at this location. The organic, grass-fed-only hamburger was fair. Flavor and the amount of toppings was lacking. The gluten-free bun definitely needs to be improved. I have had much better quality gluten-free buns at other restaurants. I am not a big fan of coffee but I must say the Tuscany flavored organic coffee blend was very, very good.

I have had the privilege of dining here many times for any and occasions, from a casual lunch to date night, and have never once been disappointed. The service is consistently outstanding; everyone from hosts to wait staff to bartenders are friendly as can be. The space itself is meticulously clean and has a lovely ambiance! The food (the main event) is reliably delicious, especially the seasonal items which are sublime. Ancient Grains bowl with chicken is always fantastic, however their pizzas and wraps are also wonderful! You really can’t go wrong, and I cannot recommend this place enough!

True Food always serves delicious, healthful meals, in a comfortable and relaxing atmosphere. (Unlike most other restaurants in big cities, there's not a noisy din, and there's no need to yell across the table so your dining companions can hear you above the blasting music.) The service is attentive and impeccable from start to finish. This afternoon, our waiter, Gerard, not only delivered our meals promptly, but he was also charming and engaging. I eat there on a weekly basis. I can't praise this restaurant high enough.

We are visiting from out of state and decided to have an early dinner & made it for happy hour. They have a variety of dishes ranging from bowls to pizza to entrees. I am gluten free and I had multiple options. Sam was a wonderful waiter and was very thorough with asking what allergies we had and provided great service. I definitely will be back when we visit Chicago. Make sure to ask for Sam when you come and leave him a good tip!

First time tried True Food Kitchen and now I am a fan! The space is absolutely beautiful with super friendly staff. Located in downtown Chicago this place is a must try for for healthy, fresh, and delicious food. I love that it has plenty of vegan, vegetarian, and gluten free options. True Food Kitchen is my new favorite restaurant as it uses wholesome, intentionally and sustainably sourced ingredients. Everything we tried was so flavorful and tasted fresh. The portions sizes were good and easily shareable. My favorites were the edamame dumpling , kimchi fried rice bowl, and bone broth chicken ramen. A special shout to our server for helping us make great choices since it was our first time there. I highly recommend checking this place out. I will definitely be back again soon .

Do you know that ‘world is great’ feeling you get after you’ve eaten something tasty yet healthy? This place was that for me😍 I’m 100% positive I’m going to keep going back to this place! Great vegetarian and vegan options!

First time there! We needed a reservation for a very large group which they were able to accommodate and were attentive to food and drink timings. It was fairly busy even apart from us but chill enough we could still hear each other easily. A really nice selection of non-alcoholic drinks/mocktails which as a non-drinker (and as someone who brought kids), I appreciated, as well as interesting featured cocktails. They have a kids menu with solid options though our oldest ordered the personal pizza off the regular menu and was perfectly happy. Many of their menu selections appeared to have both healthfulness and sustainability in mind. I would absolutely go back.

Went for dinner and ordered their burger medium rare with no bun and the kale salad. The burger came with the bun, see pic. The meat was cooked medium rare and had good flavor but lacked salt. The kale salad was good but very vinegary. We had a side of roasted Brussels sprouts. They were extremely undercooked. Pretty much raw. Our server apologized for a lot of things but without caring that much. Trendy restaurants need to deliver on what they advertise, otherwise they have no trend. Wine is expensive for the quality served. Will not go back. Food quality and service at most restaurants has gone down now for months. No one knows how to cook anymore. This is the second restaurant I’ve been in a row serving raw and tasteless vegetables.

We had a fairly large party, 6 adults plus a baby 🍼.  Their staff handles us perfectly.  Most of us had their delicious salads.  Really nice restaurant layout as you can observe the chefs create the unique delicacies.  I had the Chopped  Salad with grilled chicken.

Phenomenal food and extremely healthy!! This place has become a new staple for me. Never disappoints. Our server was so kind and then the manager came by and gave us free seasonal pie. Amazing quality food, organic seasonal ingredients. Highly recommend!!

Had a delicious gluten free pizza. Highly recommend for those that have gluten sensitivity. They have craft food and drinks that everyone seems to love. The atmosphere is modern and even though the restaurant was fairly busy was at a good crowd noise volume. I also had the flourless chocolate cake that I will definitely be returning for in the future.

This restaurant is AMAZING! The location and space is amazing. Outdoor seating and even indoor seating with sliding doors so it feels more like outdoors (and safer for Covid) is terrific. I'm not a vegetation. I'm not vegan. I generally think gluten-free stuff is terrible. Although the restaurant, itself, is not vegan or vegetarian, they have many dishes that are and are gluten-free. And EVERY dish and cocktail is amazing. Fresh ingredients, great flavor combinations, including the cocktails. It was so great, we went back again tonight. Still incredible. They clearly test every recipe until it's perfect. It's now or go to place in the river north section. The seafood dishes are also great. Staff is excellent. Reasonable prices and portions.

Their pizzas are so tasty! The creamy tomato basil soup was phenomenal. I don’t recommend getting any of the sparkling drinks, I got the prickly pear one and it was so bubbly that it exploded on me 😢😢

  • 4/5 E P (. 2 years ago on Google
The meal was incredibly fresh and there's an eye for presentation values as everything was plated very well. I will say that the portion sizes aren't really that great for what you pay for but the flavor combinations are really on point and the drinks just made sense. It's a good time.

  • 3/5 Emmanuel L. 7 months ago on Google
I dined here with a group of friends. The food was okay. I got their ravioli. It wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t memorable. They changed the waitstaff during our meal which led to confusion during payment. It felt disorganized, which was surprising given our reservation. While I might come for a quick bite, I wouldn't choose it for a sit-down dinner.

We were impressed by the health-conscious and nutritious menu. True Food Kitchen’s menu consists of a vegetable rich and anti-inflammatory diet. The menu is mostly gluten-free friendly, with options for vegetarians and vegans. Also grass fed meats and sustainable fish are served. Everything is made to order, which makes them particularly adept at accommodating allergies. Lastly, the dishes are very tasty.

An interesting food style. We tried Veggie burger and Chicken Panini. Our chicken panini at first was a little bit burned out, but we asked for exchange and they willingly changed it for us. Very polite host and servers. Loved the energy and vibe there.

Great atmosphere, service and food. Love they have few creative vegan dishes available. I had the roast brussel sprouts and butternut squash risotto. The potion size was just right, and both are delicious, definitely something I would want to eat again. A little side note, the girl delivered the brussel sprouts forgot to mention the plates is hot and I literally went and grab the plate with my fingers, not a great start of the night.

Great option especially if you have food allergies or sensitivities - so nice to have a veggie burger made out of something other than beans! This one was much more juicy, great job- recommend the apps & fresh juices

  • 4/5 Harry 1 year ago on Google
Came here for a casual business lunch. I like the atmosphere of this place: casual but not too noisy. The interior is very bright, green and clean. The menu offers wide variety of options. You can go from very healthy vegan option to very hearty dish. Since it was a business lunch, we didn’t have any alcohol. I ordered a poke bowl which was very delicious. The quantity is not super large but I’m ok with that. If you came in hungry, perhaps consider an appetizer. The service was tentative but there were some mistakes: 1) vegan dish one of my colleagues ordered somehow had chicken bits in it; 2) waitress took the wrong order for another colleague (we were a group of 10 so maybe that is why).

  • 5/5 Yvon N. 1 year ago on Google
What a great dining experience! Loved all the veggies and farm to table concept. Waiters are super friendly and gave good recommendations.

  • 5/5 Guy A. 2 years ago on Google
It was outstanding If you are looking for a healthy place to eat this is it every bite I had was an explosion of flavors. Highly recommend the Brussels sprouts and the Poke bowl. Right note they are doing a fall theme with their drinks I had the complete it was very good

  • 4/5 Juan M. 2 years ago on Google
The food was good, but the service was a shred. Our order was taken by one waitress, the drinks were delivered by a second waitress, and our food was delivered by a 3rd team. Obviously they didn't communicate at all with each other, so everything, including appetizers & entrees & both rounds of wine, came out all at once. BAD. Restaurant. Go to your room! Again, the food was good, so if that's all that matters to you then fantastic. But otherwise, don't expect a fine dining experience from this pricey volume-based business.

Enjoyed wonderful freshly prepared food! We had cod, Margarita Pizza, Korean glass noodle bowl and Kale Cob salad. Everything was delicious and you feel good, not heavy, after eating it.

First time here and it was wonderful! Say at the bar since it was just me, and the bartenders were very pleasant. The rose sangria is amazing and the chicken and mozzarella panini was fantastic as well. Definitely recommend!

We visited this taco place in Chicago during the St Patrick’s day weekend and it was crowded. Visiting here with my kid felt a bit odd as there were only bar stools and no provision for high chairs. The concept of fusion tacos is pretty impressive. For vegetarians the Nashville Hot tofu , falafel Tacos are amazing and we also loved the chicken tikka and picnic chicken tacos.

everyone is really nice. love the atmosphere. the food wasn’t particularly impressive but service was great. there’s a bourbon cocktail on their menu that is so good i considered going back just to sit at the bar and have a few of them.
