Easily one of the best restaurants in Chicago! My late father took me to this spot in the early 1990s. It’s a family tradition and favorite of ours. This place makes you feel like you have transported to Greece. All the food is sensational. The staff is funny, helpful and knowledgeable. Highly recommend to anyone look for Greek food in Chicago, West Loop or Greek Town.

Easily the best Greek food I’ve had in my life. Spinach Cheese pie, hummus, baklava, literally every entree. THE LEMON SOUP. Everything is great. Best of all, every time you come in, even if it’s your first time coming, they will treat you like an extension of their family. If you haven’t gone here, and you think you have a favorite Greek restaurant, you’re wrong.

I'm no expert on Greek food, but there's a reason this place has been around for so long. This place serves delicious food. We started with the saganaki which the kids loved watching being flambeed. My wife had the octopus and said it was some of the best she's had. I had the combination which was great. The moussaka was so good. The rest of the dishes were equally as good. Highly recommend.

Greek Islands had a very nice ambiance upon arrival. The owner was adamant you wear a mask while walking through which is fine. He couldve said it w/o the attitude. We ordered three appetizers.. Calamari, the chicken and steak kabobs were very dry, no flavor and set on very oily plate which tasted like pure oil. The calamari was good, but the sauce had lacked flavor. I first tried ordering the lamb chops, there was none available. Then I tried ordering the New York strip steak, there was also none. Supposedly the waiter said shipping of these items was behind. So I just opted for the fish with vegetables and I was deeply disappointed AGAIN! The vegetables were mushy, flavorless and oily. Almost every meal was set in oil.. Gross! I thought maybe my fish would be good, but lacked any flavored so I added a slice after slice of lemon to add flavor. Ok, so then we tried dessert. We all ordered something different so we could share. I ordered the baklava, vanilla ice cream and some other desert that was drier than mine Karolina somethinglike that. The baklava was super dry and I HAD A HAIR IN MINES! UGH! I Showed the waiter he said it was filaments. I said no that is a hair cause it had a freaking root. It was a beard hair ( I hope). He brought another but I wasn't in the mood anymore. I forgot we had the flaming saganaki the show was nice but never have I ever ate rubber but now I know the texture, lol. I'm sorry to say but our expensive experience was horrible. Never will go there again and I wouldn't recommend it.

Phenomenal Dining Experience! I absolutely love this restaurant, the staff is very pleasant and accommodating. The food is delicious and the Saganaki Cheese is an experience of its own. Do yourself a favor and go enjoy a wonderful dining experience at the Greek Islands.

Greek Island's has been a longtime favorite for my family. The service is great the guys are always attentive and offer great old school service. The dishes are huge in servings you will definitely take some home. Prices I must say are not bad considering so many other places are so expensive

Excellent as always! The server was on top of his game, so many delicious options on the menu. I recommend trying several delicious appetizers and you can’t go wrong. Portions of entrees and appetizers are very generous. This place is classic for a reason- great service, excellent fresh seafood and traditional, quality Greek flavors. I can’t wait to go again to try more dishes.

It was a great experience. I felt like I visited Greece. This is really local food and not something that you can fond very easily abroad. We took Saganaki, grilled octopus, horta, lamb with briami, rice pudding, baklava and many others. The briami reminded me the dishes that my mum and dad cook at home, which we call it “guvec”. The octopus was great, the horta was also light and refreshing. The lamb was also great. I highly recommend dipping the bread inside the juice. I always like to eat milky desserts after dinner, and it is very difficult to find a place which does that. I loved rice pudding a lot. In Turkish, we call it as “sutlac”. It was not too sweet and the cinnamon on top was amazing. I have tried it elsewhere, but it was always too sweet that it was impossible to finish it. The baklava was great too. It was not too sweet as well, you can really taste the wallnuts and spices they put inside. Overall, as a Turkish person, being able to find such good quality greek food is amazing and so valuable considering that we have a very similar cuisine. People living in Chicago are very lucky to have Greek Islands.

The restaurant is huge. Can definitely accommodate big parties . When we first came in the manager who sat us was great. Our waitress not so much. I only got one refill on my pop. For that refill I had to flag her down to get it. I did find a black hair in my salad. My gyro appetizer was great. My husband got the lamb chops. He said they were way over done. Good thing they had iced tea and Splenda. The decor was really cool. But the food in my opinion was okay. The Saganaki was great. Cooked table side.

Great place for family gatherings. Staffs are friendly and food was awesome. Little bit pricey though. Recommend this place specifically for valet parking. Remember to take cash for valet driver tips(parking is free). They may get rude if no tips were given.

This was one of the best meals I had in the last times!!! Everything was great and I was surprised about the high quality of the food! Octopus was tender and well cooked… Swordfish was tasteful and well balanced… Lamb was delicious and was melting in my mouth! I would love to go back there to try all the other dishes! The place is also very big but workers are all nice and very polite. I would like to mention Panos: he was unbelievable and we loved chatting with him and being helped by him! He was very nice and careful. Finally, price was honest for the quantity and quality of the food! I really recommend this place! Amazing food… special place… great people!

According to my son ... "One of my top five dining experiences!" We ordered Family Style and it was amazing. Nicos was our server and made our meal seem like we were eating in our home ... it was simply fantastic!

Very authentic Greek restaurant with the vibe to match. The staff was very attentive and recommended good dishes. Started off the with Saganaki cheese was so delicious and they lit it on fire right at the table. Egg plant was amazing and I don’t even like egg plant. The gyros were also top tier with the best tasting pitas. Highly recommend if you looking for a authentic fire Greek restaurant.

I was sketched because it was close to the hotel I was in. Once I realized our food was taking a while to get out knew it was going to be good. Please try if you're around the area. I got photos again! Lol normally I forget that part. The Gyro was fire too and had that as an appetizer.

Went here for lunch a couple of days before Christmas with a small group from work. Although it was rather busy, service was fast and friendly. Everyone had entrees priced under $25 and loved their food. The menu made it hard to choose though! Finally, I decided on the 'Create A Combo' with roast leg of lamb and spinach cheese pie. Mostly everyone ended up with leftovers to go. Those of us who had drinks, also enjoyed our selections from the martini menu. I look forward to returning to this bright cozy spot, when it's warmer and outdoor seating is available.

Greek islands is my favorite forever! Love coming here and always have an authentic experience! Great food, great service and very pleasant atmosphere! The dolmades are my favorite appetizer and no one in the city does it quite right! (Also they are harder to find these days I’ve noticed). Make sure you call ahead to see what the wait is like and know if you go later in the evening you risk them running out of favorites / popular items so go early!

Gyro could have tasted way way better if it wasn't cold and very thickly sliced. I really really liked the domato salad. Calamari was delicious too! It wasn't breaded and it was grilled which was super nice. However, they made us wait quite a while for the entrees. And they didn't ask if we want the salads next to the entrees. I would have preferred my salad come with the gyro plate. One dry food could be better when combined with the juicy domato salad. Also, when I walked in, I asked for a table for five but I didn't show me a seat and said that I should wait my whole party to arrive. I'm not sure what's their intension by doing that. What's wrong arriving there 5 min earlier than the rest of the party. I found it weird and non-hospitable.

Delicious food, excellent service! The menu had a variety of choices but has been scaled down from the old menu (pre-Covid times). We came for a weekday lunch and did not have to wait to be seated. We ordered appetizers to share as well as main dishes. They give healthy portions, we took containers home. Everything was fresh and tasty. We were so full but couldn't pass up dessert! Our server Peter was fun and super attentive, the water glasses never down passed 1/2.

Delayed review, but I came here last year on a girls night and we couldn’t have asked for a better dining experience! We had just finished up at the Color Factory, which is conveniently located near this restaurant, making it an ideal choice. We opted for valet parking, although street parking is available if you prefer it. Seating was prompt, and we enjoyed pre-dinner drinks at the bar while waiting. ✨ The ambiance was lovely & welcoming 🍽️ Food was delicious (plus, it was perfect since one of my friends has celiac disease — no grains, no pains!) - Also, you MUST order the saganaki. It’s delicious!! 🙂 Staff was friendly and attentive. Whether it's a girls' night out or a family dinner, I highly recommend this place!

As soon as you walk in you are greeted like family it feels welcoming. They have a delicious menu. My favorite appetizer is the pan fried calamari and I love the gyro plate or the grilled octopus. This place is never a miss and always a hit.

My wife and I went here because we couldn’t get away from Greek food after our recent Greece travels. We came on a Wednesday evening and it was packed. Greek Islands has a very homey vibe that brings many locals and visitors to the restaurant. We ordered a ton of food. The gyro was my favorite.

Superb restaurant!! The ambiance of the restaurant sets the scene for the culinary experience you are about to enjoy. The service is spectacular and friendly. Had the Lamb special and the Moussaka and both were delicious. Had a nice house red wine with the meal per the waiter's suggestion and it was excellent. The food was served quickly and was full of flavor. Had the baklava for dessert. Everything was excellent and I am excited to come back in the future. One of the best restaurants I've been to in awhile and highly recommended!!

I could easily tell this is a local favorite. Many large groups of families sat around us, and they all seemed to be celebrating some special event. We were seated promptly (although it was before 5pm). The service was friendly and relatively prompt. I also liked the overall decor and feel of the restaurant. We especially enjoyed their special tomato sauce with the rice. The chicken was fantastic. However, the meatballs were a little dry (so I plan to order something besides that next time). It was my first time there and don’t know anyone who works at the restaurant. However, someone who I imagine to be the manager or owner briefly stopped by our table and thanked us for eating there. It was a great touch to a warm and welcoming environment.

Our server was very nice! I wish I got his name. He has short hair and always smiles. Good was all good! Suckling pig, fish, octopus and the desserts!

I admire how much Greeks take pride in their culture and you can definitely see that in this restaurant. As soon as I walked in staff was warm and extremely welcoming and I was seated right away. The interior is super cute, a nice change from your standard modern restaurants. I ordered a specialty lamb orzo dish-10/10! It came out right away and the lamb melted in my mouth. I will definitely be back with friends and family!

5 ⭐️- Fantastic as always One of out favorite places in Chicago. we normally just order hot and cold appetizers to share. Everything was really good. The calamari and grilled octopus were fresh and tender. The star of their greek salad were the feta cheese and olives. One can’t skip on the saganaki and sampler dip. We tried the mashed potatoes with garlic and olive for the first time. it was wonderful but definitely not a top choice if you are on a first date. The garlic taste will definitely last.

I absolutely loved the greek islands. The ambiance felt very greek, the smells, the kitchen in sight all of it made the experience full of life. The only downside is I felt very rushed and I know it wasn’t our waiters fault, just a very popular place. We had ordered roughly 5-6 dishes and each were fantastic.. you cant go wrong with the dish you order.

If you are looking for an amazing, delicious experience this is the place! We were treated like family, everything was so good, the service was outstanding! 20 of us celebrated me being done with chemotherapy and we could not have asked for a better experience!! So thankful for Greek Islands!!

2nd time going for takeout and each time I go, I'm never disappointed! Had the Pork chop dinner with rice and a Greek styled potato. The chops are cooked to perfection, tender and very, flavorful. I'm gonna try something else but I just love pork chops too much ;-)

Pack my begs and send me to Greece, this was a top notch greek experience with flavor! Meals are all reasonably priced, wait staff is attentive, and food is prepared fast. Id suggest giving some appetizers a try as well, the cold sampler was a must if you enjoy hummus and dips.

I’ve been coming to this restaurant probably since I was still in my Mom’s womb. Food was great but I had a whole lamb chop left on my plate. I told him I wanted it wrapped and he threw it away then said I was the one who told him to do that. I just think it’s common sense that someone who hasn’t eaten a lamb chop wants to take it home. It’s not a cheap cut of meat.

This place is really good. Their Homemade Gyros, Dolmades, Taramosalata are really good. Ordered BBQ Lamb (their special) today, and it’s probably the best lamb I’ve ever had in recent years. Overall a restaurant that’ll give you surprises. I like it.

I couldn't recommend this place enough. Fresh, clean, authentic. Service & flavor were absolutely on point! We went on a Sunday evening & I'm pretty sure we were one of only a handful of tables speaking native English. We ordered Martinis that arrived almost immediately, and an array of apps. We did the Saganaki 🔥, gyro plate, a grape leaf and some others with names I can't recall. All were abundantly delicious & savory. So we did about 5 apps & several rounds of drinks, & our bill was $75- out the door for $100, because our wonderful server & support team earned it! Oh & the kids meals offered great variety & pricing. You could do pork, beef, or chicken kabobs and rice... Greek lasagna, spaghetti, spaghetti & meatballs, and several other great choices.

I wish I could swear on a review because this was so ****’ing good. My mother grew up in Chicago and said I HAVE to come here (I’m writing this in the present tense because I’m literally eating), while on my work trip. The ambiance, people, and (most importantly) the food are ridiculously good. The Taramosolata and Kokkinosto are unreal. Seriously. I’m-real. Order both, you know you want to... I was full after my appetizers but I powered through. As should you. I’m going to lay in my hotel room and probably come back for dinner. Holy guacamole, this place is amazing!

A nice greek restaurant in the greek town. Every dish was delicious, especially the flaming cheese and the eggplant/potato dip. The staff was attentive and willing to provide some recommendations. Would suggest to make a reservation in advance given the high popularity of this place.
